I am surprised people want this Blckaxe to live.

Well, he did kill class enemies. I mean, right thinking people also kill Beastmen spawn when they get their hands on it, no matter its age. Are the children of the so called nobility not destined to grow up into oppressive, entitled monsters just as bad as the children of chaos, but more insidious?

He killed the children of the people who have been enslaving, raping, and murdering our children for generations. Eye for an eye justice is fairly typical for this time period. Plus, they were children who would have grown up to be just as bad as their parents. I'm surprised I'm the only one pardoning him, especially after we went with the bloody uprising start.

Their blood is the blood of tyrants and monsters. To allow them to grow up and oppress the people once more would be the greater crime. Are you a traitor to the Republic?

One thing I've learned is that you should never lower yourself to the level of your enemies. That being said, would we consider ourselves above the man we have just defeated by killing his children? Did we not start a revolution to create a more peaceful and morally adept government? Plus, "it was normal for that time period" always feels like a cop out reason. Damn straight I'm going to criticize racism in the world in the past. Damn straight I'm going to denounce the history of sexism against women. If it's screwed up now, it was screwed up back then.

[X] He is to be pardoned. What's done is done, and the children are from the class-enemy anyway, the people understands this.

Your morals are shallow as all hell then.

Personally, I find it more annoying when people try to implement modern ethics into past settings or argue that people in past settings are bad because they don't conform to modern ethics. I don't mind being a progressive, but I'd like to be a progressive that feels like he emerged from the setting naturally, not a time-traveller from our future.

And I am fine with them, thank you.

Perhaps you are right, but said modern ethics can become the ethics of this city-state if we take a stand for it. This revolution can change an entire society's way of thinking. We could advantage of this quickly.

remember guys, speaking the justification of your choices in-character would earn you points.;)

just italicize your post if your IC.

The Revolution began because of the outrage at the death of an innocent. Will it keep life with the glad acceptance of more innocent blood being spilled? I say NO!

We cannot simply let the survivors of our oppressors to waltz back on in and strip their old estates of everything of value.

The children would have hardly posed a threat, they could have been educated in the spirit of the Revolution. Instead thy were murdered out of hand showing us to be little better than bloodthirsty rabble if we allow this to stand without sanction.

In due time these so-called innocents would have acted against the people, to seek vengeance for their murderous kin who showed us none of the mercy now being called for. Blackaxe has done nothing that any true comrade of the revolution should not have done in his place.

Seriously, Dwarves have grudges. They're otherwise great but they have grudges and I don't want to ever get in the way of one. Besides pardoning him ties into the more obvious decision of refusing the remaining pirates' kin passage. They might be taking useful wealth with them if they left, hopefully it'll be worth our while in loot to execute them for that alone, let alone in the name of removing any threat that capable pirates could pose one day once given a chance to rebuild.

Evil deeds can have good consequences. We acknowledge that yes, this has solved a potential future problem for the Council and the people, no future competitors, youth of the Pirate Lords come back to seek revenge. Yet...we MUST aim for higher causes, for noble principles that all mankind can share in. And, principal among those is, MURDERING CHILDREN = TERRIBLE.

Yes, exile will be rough on our dark warrior, but he will live, unlike those he slew.

All men and women are created equal by the Gods. Slavery spits in the face of all that is holy, virtuous, and just in this world. If we are to forge a better world, better that the seeds we sow now are not corrupted by, greed, hypocricy, and hubris from the beginning.

Smash those chains, brothers and sisters! The beginnings of our new society and nation will be the rougher for it, but the blood, sweat, and tears spilt now and in the coming months will ensure the birth of our Free Peoples will be all the smoother!

The Pirate Lords' power is broken. Showing mercy to those who have had power and capability stripped from them, our lords' families now turned into the very refugees we once were, it is fair and balancing on the cosmic scales. As well, mercy and compassion for the weak and downtrodden has to begin somewhere, and they ARE leaving.

Turn 1: Rumors and News
"No great idea in its beginning can ever be within the law. How can it be within the law? The law is stationary. The law is fixed. The law is a chariot wheel which binds us all regardless of conditions or place or time. "

Rumors and News (year 2532)

(Building a Foreign Office and/or a Propaganda Network would increase the reliability of said Rumors and News)

The Kingdom of Kislev (unreliable rumor)
- After a long and eventful reign, Tzarina Katarin is abdicating the throne in favor of her son, Prince Vasily the Ursunkin. The prince is rumored to be a renowned officer, poet, and reformist. He is proving to be a headache to the entrenched nobility in the Boyar. His only known supporters at court are, surprisingly, the Priests of Dazh, while the Priesthood of Ursun are divided in supporting him and the Priests of Tor opposing him.

The Empire of Sigmar (unreliable rumor)
- Emperor Karl Franz has ruled the mighty Empire for 3 decades and continue to remain strong at the age of fifty. His son and heir though, Prince Luitpold remains sickly to this day after defeating a Chaos Champion. Karl Franz is rumored to be spending political capital to ensure that Luitpold is elected still. His daughter, Princess Sophia, is currently travelling the countryside in a goodwill tour that will end in Kislev to pay respects to the new tsar.

The Kingdom of Brettonia (plausible rumor)
-
After the 10th peasant uprising in so many years. the Duke of Montfort has decided to tighten the laws even discarding some that favors the peasantry. The ringleaders of said revolts came from the barony of the Ramberts who, until recently, boasts the intelligence and literacy of their people. The location of the Ramberts are currently unknown.

The City-States of Tilea (reliable news)
-
After a decade of unceasing combat, the Battle of Miragliano has turned in favor of the Tileans. The mass-production of the bird-shaped gas masks, arbalests, light cannons, and flamethrowers. Plus the creation of elite units like the Raptors and the logistics, strategy, and tactics to use them properly in urban warfare has pushed the rat-men back with a few stubborn strongholds left in the middle of the city, the most infamous of which is known as Ratov's Hovel. The Miragliano High Command however, is confident that said strong-point would fall soon during the planned Winter Offensive.

edit: the rest of the world will react to what happened to Sartosa next turn....
