Mastery of Small Manners
While that does look like it would be a rather useful charm, I have to ask, how exactly does this work? Part of the charm seems to be written as if the duration was indefinite or permanent (the bit about small favors and hospitality), when it actually only lasts until the Solar's next action. It also bypasses multiple rolls in a different ability, which I find slightly odd. Back on the timing thing, this appears to require that it be reactivated every time we would say something new, and even though it is only one mote, that could burn through our pools rather fast depending on the conversation.

It's important to remember here that Social Combat is rather different from actual Combat. Most notably that while in both Actions are measured in Ticks, Social Combat uses Long Ticks which are one minute long vs the one second of actual combat. Given even the fastest actions are like 3 Long Ticks long actions can take quite a while.

That said I've seen it suggested that Social Combat Long Ticks were meant to be only 10 seconds long but I can't find any in book sources for that.

I know that, but social combat is for a very specific set of interactions, it isn't meant to be used for ordinary conversations. From the 2E Core:
In any case, these rules are not what one uses to convince others where to go for dinner. Rather, they are how one turns someone into an instant convert to his cause or wins the argument over the strategy his nation needs to follow in an upcoming war. Social combat can be used for small matters—intimidating the warden at a bridge may be minor but an essential use of a persuasive character's silver tongue. However, social combat should never be used for trivial situations or casual debate. If it is used in an argument over clothing, that argument should figure prominently in some larger matter or depict a character who is an unrelenting social bully.

If I'm reading it right that would be an alright but not great improvement. A Solar can perform strenuous exercise, such as running, for (Stamina + Resistance + Specialty) hours before starting to tire and continue for another (Stamina + Resistance) hours before they collapse (unconscious) from exhaustion. So right now Tenten can run for four hours without tiring and eight before she drops.

With an Excellency you can increase a this by up to half (Stamina + Resistance). That would bring Tenten up to six hours before she starts to tire and twelve before she faints.
Solar Excellencies give up to (Attribute + Ability) extra dice (increasing dice pools like this or for Feats of Strength directly), so that would be 8 hours of running using an excellency.

From the Charms and Pools box:
For unrolled activites such as DV, Mental DV, or feats of strength, Charms increase a character's static rating by adding to (the relevent Attribute + Ability). This bonus increases the (Attribute + Ability) pool, not the final result of any calculations, so if the (Attribute + Ability) is divided in half, the bonus rating will be applied before the division, not afterward. The result is that player will normally have to add two "dice" to increase a static value by one - although the First Excellency provides a discount of sorts for this, increasing static values by one per success rolled.

Regardless, no combination of Charms, including the First Excellency, can increase a static rating by more than half the (Attribute + Ability), and Charms that remove penalties do not count as increasing the character's static rating.
Bolding added by me for emphasis. So even for static values that aren't halved, like feats of strength, the limit is half the (Attribute + Ability).

There's an assumption in the stunt that Uzuki gave us the name of who we are meeting. If not, I have a little bit I can put in for introductions.

I'm not quite up on Exalted mechanics, but let's try:

You can feel the akwardness grasping at your lungs, stealing words from your throat. How do you tell a woman how her boyfriend(or even lover?) died. She doesn't know what you took from her. She did not want you to know she was ANBU and the proctor was hers and your stupid jutsu stole the knowledge and you can't hide and lie to her to pretend you don't know. Stupid jutsu. She deserves closure but you really do not want to go back that that terrifying chair, and they ordered you not to talk about it and now you're panicking!

It's safe, right? She said this place is safe? She's ANBU, you can tell her, right? It would be cruel not to and oh dear kami she's looking at me, speak woman!

"I'm sorry!" bursts out of you as you bow from the waist. She looks nonplussed by your fumbling, but is gracious enough to wave it away. The acompaning smile is just as weak as the first one. Your eyes dart from the bags under her eyes to that smile and something within uncleches.

This isn't about you. And you will not fail the memory of shinoby who gave his life to protect the village. To protect you. A deep breath leaves you as wrestle down all the discomfort and hunger and just focus on what matters right now. You straighten up, composing yourself and focus on meeting her eyes and putting it into worthy words.

"I'm sorry for your loss Uzuki-san. I can not imagine what you are feeling right now. I do not know how Hayate lived. But he died standing between the Leaf and it's enemies. I've been ordered not to talk about the circumstances." you admit with a grimace,"but your "friend" told me this place is safe and there are other reasons why you might be cleared and know about them allready."

Carefully, best not to startle ANBU, you reach up and scratch your arm, on the exact spot where her tatoo is. "If I can tell you Uzuki-san, I will. But I know only the end of the story, and that just doesn't feel right. If I tell you how he died Uzuki-san, could you tell me how he lived? I want to rememeber him as more then what I saw at the end."

-[X] An ANBU told me her 'Friend' wanted to speak to me. *cough*

[X] The whole truth, and nothing but - You didn't see much, and if he had last words you didn't hear them. Not likely to provide much closure, but you're also not going to be telling a lie.

We even got a bonus +1XP to Stamina; that leaves 7XP to Stamina 4(5XP if we spend training actions with Gai).

I assume stamina is a very useful attribute? I don't really know enough about the system in general, but I like the idea of having good attributes, so uh, sounds like a plan?
(Dex is already maxed and two of her mental stats are already at four, I don't know whether it's actually *worth* it or not, but getting as many attributes to five as poss...sounds good?)

I can see why ANBU is disgruntled at Gai in general, and with him getting a genin team in particular.
The more so when they are turning out to be such an exceptional bunch.
I assume ex-Councilman Danzo is of much the same mind. :V

I mean, Gai isn't wrong, ANBU fucks its members up. Wasn't there an incident with him seeing how cold Kakashi had gotten, with some mission where Kakashi was just going to kill every witness in the area regardless of who they were or what they'd done?

Running to Forever would be the ultimate troll trump card, though; then dashing (i.e. running) would count as resting. "Go ahead and sleep, Gai-sensei. I'll keep doing laps. See you in the morning!"
Alas, that would require being an Infernal.

*weeps yet again for what could have been*

Yugao is not good at the whole "secret identity" thing.

I mean, Tenten may have the fancy Sagacious Reading of Intent charm but it...really wasn't necessary.

Yugao did the 'friend' thing. AKA 'I am definitely talking about myself'

Sloppy for an ANBU is an understatement.

Going with no cuz... well she probably already realizes TenTen would put it together. Subtle she was not. Unless she is that far out of it, then it just seems rude.

Lying to an ANBU, even/especially to a grieving one seems a bad idea. As for knowing she is an ANBU, well she wasn't subtle but she has the right to her privacy. It's not directly linked to the conversation so no reason to bring it up ourselves.

Doubly so since Gai, being Gai, decided it wouldn't be fair to criticize ANBU if he did not go through the training and preparation himself. So now he's on the leaderboards and even managed to get the second best time in the T&I resistance course (well, technically third, but then nobody likes to talk about the time they got Anko to take the course).

There's a reason for that. I would like to remind everyone that Yuugao's been in ANBU for almost a decade at this point, which is rather striking since she's currently 22.

Yuugao: "Now that Hayate's dead I need someone else I can talk to about all the horrible things I do as a member of ANBU. This fourteen year old girl sounds like the perfect replacement!"

This thing of best record in T&I resistance course, I remember seeing it in a Numen fanfic. Is it canon? I think it was something like Gai cried so much he fainted due to dehydration and he couldn't be interrogated for a while, Kakashi used a mirror to cast a Sharingan genjutsu to make himself comatose for a while, and Anko has yet to answer "banana" because T&I couldn't break her, as she was already broken.

However, this Numen fic was an AU with lovecraftian elements and huge lore differences.

Yeaaaah;another one of the Itachi generation, I suppose.
Konoha is supposed to be the nice village, and they are STILL fucked up.
It's about time to rotate her out. Or find her a therapist.

Yuugao: "Now that Hayate's dead I need someone else I can talk to about all the horrible things I do as a member of ANBU. This fourteen year old girl sounds like the perfect replacement!"
You jest, but that's an actual serious consideration if Tenten is on the shortlist for chuunin.
Especially when you consider her political connects.

Consider.
Her Hyuuga teammate is a nephew of the Hyuuga clan head. Her jounin-sensei is a prominent senior jounin with all that implies. Gai's genin team sensei in the anime is the current Akimichi clan head and Chouji's father. One of his genin teammates teaches the Hokage's grandson, and the other used to be part of Minato's Hokage Guard Platoon.

From the PoV of a woman who got railroaded into ANBU in her tweens, Tenten is about as connected as you can get without being a clan kid heir.
Not bad for a civilian orphan girl.

EDIT
Add the fact that Tenten's character description says, and I quote:
Tenten is naturally observant and inquisitive. She is strongly-opinionated about women, and has a distaste for weakness and being over-reliant on others. However, she is compassionate and helpful, always striving to be kind and caring towards others.
Yeah.
And it's not like being the friend and confidant of an ANBU squad captain does her any harm....

Yeah, I got the idea from People Lie, it's just the general idea though not totally canon (for instance in People Lie, Gai actually joined ANBU for a bit). The imagery of that scene was just too much not to include an homage to.

(well, technically third, but then nobody likes to talk about the time they got Anko to take the course).

Anko was such a great character with a lot of potential that canon just kind of...did nothing with.

She trained with one of the Sannin, and is Jonin level (but permanently special-jonin for political reasons, as the higher ups don't and will never trust the former apprentice of Oro-chan).

She's also a signatory to the Snake clan, which is a big deal given the Snakes seem to be one of the most powerful Spirit Courts.
