Still think she needs a Perfect Defense under her belt, preferably Deft Hand Deflection as it has no Flaw of Invulnerability.
I think only blocking ranged attacks is a plenty big enough flaw in that defense to outweigh its lack of an explicit Flaw of Invulnerability. Other flaws can be worked around, but this one makes it very weak - or outright useless - against at least half of our enemies.

True. Still good to have. Heavenly Guardian Defense would probably be a good choice, but we don't have access to artifact weaponry without something like Glorious Solar Saber.

Too bad Tenten's not an Infernal. Principle-Invoking Onslaught (for offence) and Counter-Conceptual Interposition (for defense) would allow for much lolz.

If it is dangerous enough to destroy our weapon we can just pull out another. And frankly anything that does enough damage to destroy a weapon would be enough to spatter us across the room. Frankly I doubt Chidori even does that much damage and it got past Gaara's defense.

Are you trying to kill Tenten's budget?
Any mission that results in us fighting something that dangerous will pay enough to buy more than enough to replace the destroyed kunai with swords after living expenses.

Er... how would she expect us to not know that she's ANBU? She's not wearing a mask now.

Yes, because if we know, someone else might, and we represent a security issue. As a loyal shinobi of Konoha it is our duty to report problems with ANBU security so they can be patched.

You were going to die.
Gai is simply #Winning.
You also found out how the story ended.
One of those quieter character observations is that, while Kakashi has suffered more personal losses, Gai wasn't exactly untouched.
Of course, unlike Kakashi, his genin teammates Ebisu and Genma Shiranui are still alive.
As is his anime-canon team leader, Akimichi Chouza.
Then he started jogging again.
"Come on Tenten! 189 more laps and we'll be finished warming up!"
I'm going to point out that this pretty much necessitates that Tenten buy an Athletics Excellency and Lightning Speed, if only to (attempt to)show him up.
At which point Gai raises it to 400 laps:V
Finished Training:
[Joint-Wounding Attack]
[One Weapon, Two Blows]
[Athletics ●●●○○]
+ 1 XP to Stamina ●●●●○
Oh, excellent.
We even got a bonus +1XP to Stamina; that leaves 7XP to Stamina 4(5XP if we spend training actions with Gai).
Gai-sensei had a lot to say about ANBU, and being Gai-sensei, that meant you heard a lot about ANBU. You're pretty sure the entire village has heard his opinions on ANBU. He didn't like what the Mask did to the people who wore it. To hear him tell it, you couldn't help but agree. Necessary as the ANBU may be, that didn't mean you had to like it, and you certainly didn't plan on ever joining it.
I can see why ANBU is disgruntled at Gai in general, and with him getting a genin team in particular.
The more so when they are turning out to be such an exceptional bunch.
I assume ex-Councilman Danzo is of much the same mind. :V

Do you tell her you know she is in ANBU?
What do you tell her about how Hayate died?
Manipulation 2, Presence 0, Larceny 1, Socialize 2.
Not only is deception difficult for someone of Tenten's characterization and mentor, her dicepools are absolutely horrendous for it from an Exalted standpoint. So don't even bother with lying or trying to shade the truth.

And it will make things smoother if Uzuki doesn't have to keep going "my friend told me"; the woman is too stressed to pull it off, even if she wasn't facing off against a Perception 4, Investigation 3 Exalt.

Now what I would suggest is that those of us who write omakes(you know who you are) pool 5XP and buy Mastery of Small Manners [Essence 1, Socialize 2]between now and the next update.
MASTERY OF SMALL MANNERS
Cost: 1m; Mins: Socialize 2, Essence 1;
Type: Reflexive (Step 1 for attacker, Step 2 for defender)
Keywords: Combo-OK, Social
Duration: Until next action
Prerequisite Charms: None

The Solar attunes herself to the patterns of human interaction.
This Charm makes her responses to social situations
so natural and appropriate
that in social combat she treats all
enemy groups as one point of Magnitude smaller than they are
(to a minimum of 0.) It also increases her effective Appearance
by one dot. When in doubt, other characters will be more apt
to do small favors and provide hospitality than not. Finally,
this Charm ensures that the character understands the basic
motivations of everyone present in the scene,
as if her player
had rolled three successes on a mundane Investigation roll to
estimate each person's motives.
Tenten qualifies for it, it'll help her know what Uzuki wants, and it makes it that more likely that Uzuki will do small favors for her.

Also, if someone could contribute 1XP to finish raising Appearance to 3, that would be great.
It's kinda important to social combat, like the type we're about to enter here.

And it will make things smoother if Uzuki doesn't have to keep going "my friend told me"; the woman is too stressed to pull it off, even if she wasn't facing off against a Perception 4, Investigation 3 Exalt.
This is a good point. Hmm.

Well, hopefully that same stress and distraction means she won't try to follow up how Tenten knows. Changing my vote.

The perfect reason to pick up a Resistance excellency.

Running to Forever would be the ultimate troll trump card, though; then dashing (i.e. running) would count as resting. "Go ahead and sleep, Gai-sensei. I'll keep doing laps. See you in the morning!"
Alas, that would require being an Infernal.

Eh. Even without Exalted bullshit it's a really obvious connection.
ANBU:
Half-shrouded by the shadows of the trees, but still enough to see her long purple hair fall down past the twin swords strapped to her back.
Yugao:
You make a special note of the tight sleeves that cover the upper parts of her arms.

And most important, long purple hair.

And then of course there is:
"I-" She pauses, just for a split second, but enough for you to notice and when she continues her voice is ever so slightly thicker, "-wanted to ask a favor for a friend, she...wants to talk with you about something you saw."
"Please I-" she cuts herself off, "She...there's things I cannot get from reports. I would be in your debt."

Yugao is not good at the whole "secret identity" thing.

[ ] Providing closure, through creative interpretation - Give her something to latch onto, no one else was there when he died, no one else would have to know if you...embellished a little.
All I can think.

"Well it was a dark and stormy night-"
"No it wasn't."
...
"And then Hayate said 'It'll take more than that to put out my will of fire.' and the enemy jonin started looking at each other and they were obviously rethinking this. Unfortunately, that's when the Mizukage arrived."
...
"So with his last kunai through the Tschikages shrivelled black heart Hayate rolled in the massive crater, over finally able to die now that he'd killed all of leafs enemies. He beckoned me over. 'Please Tenten, my dear friend I must ask you to do one last thing for me. Please tell my beautiful girlfriend, Anbu Cat, that I'll love her forever and that my sacrifice was worthwhile if it means she can live on in a world without ever risking her life.' And then he coughed up a lot of blood and died."
"Thats not what happened."
"I prefer this version. So would you."

Type: Simple (Dramatic Action, DV -6)

Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Lightning Speed

To the Lawgiver, the great distances between Creation's territories are not so much an obstacle as a place to keep their dominions. This Charm allows the character to travel ([her Stamina + Essence] x 10) miles per hour, for up to one hour. This is a single dramatic action. If the character invokes this Charm again as her next action, she may ignore the Willpower cost.
would allow us to run far faster than a car in it's base form. Unfortunately many ninja seem to be able to run that fast. However @Crilltic has said he will adjust charms to account for ninja baselines.

Edit: Suggested Change

If I'm reading it right that would be an alright but not great improvement. A Solar can perform strenuous exercise, such as running, for (Stamina + Resistance + Specialty) hours before starting to tire and continue for another (Stamina + Resistance) hours before they collapse (unconscious) from exhaustion. So right now Tenten can run for four hours without tiring and eight before she drops.

With an Excellency you can increase a this by up to half (Stamina + Resistance). That would bring Tenten up to six hours before she starts to tire and twelve before she faints.
