The Gamer of Defiance Quest (Gamer/Defiance/SI)

"You don't have vital organs. You don't have blood. Fuck, you don't even have a brain or a heart! You just have...things...made out of something I don't know what, and it's vaguely shaped like a brain or heart! They're just floating there!"
Interesting twist. Haven't seen that before. Guess that's one way to demonstrate that there's something different about our protagonist.

I've heard of Defiance, but haven't seen it. Will I need to bump it up my watchlist to follow along?

[x] Go to:
---[x] The library. Could have valuable information on the Votanis races, as well as recent history during and after the Pale Wars.
---[x] The marketplace. You freaked out when you saw Yewll and heard that aliens existed. Getting used to the Votans might be a good idea.
---[x] The Lawkeeper's office. You're somewhat curious about Clancy's job.
[x] Talk to Clancy about a specific subject.
---[x] Ask Clancy what you should know about Defiance and the local community, room and board, and finding work.

Thank you.

Hopefully not. I would recommend watching it. It has its moments for being good and bad, but I like it a lot. One of the best sci fi shows in recent years. It's no Stargate, but I think it can inspire even greater shows. I would recommend watching it, but bumping it up your watch list is unnecessary.

EDIT: I'm back.

I'd like to see a few more votes, please. That way, I know I'm satisfying more than one person. Otherwise, vote locks at 5:00 EST on March 17th.

This looks to be quite interesting.

[X] Go to (insert place in Defiance). 1 action each. Can choose up to four total, obviously.
---[X] The library. Could have valuable information on the Votanis races, as well as recent history during and after the Pale Wars.
---[X] The best mechanic in town. You were studying to be a mechanic, and you kind of want to see what they're doing with your field of expertise in the modern day.
[x] Talk to Clancy about a specific subject.
---[X] How do thing go around town? Money how does it work? Work where do you get? Id is it a thing? Sleeping spots, what do I do? Dangers outside town how to avoid.
[X] Experiment with your Gamer power. This world probably doesn't have mana like the canon Gamer, but you should be able to grind your stats. This will have to be done out of town, away from the Lawkeeper.
-[X]Check menu options, Check Stats. Check Inventory. Exercise and check if the ways of stat improvement work. there is an MP bar try to work your way though gather mana like Han Jee han did. You are aparently a block of gamestuff shaped like a human and this is detectable see how much. Gamers mind how much does it alter you can you beat you kill yourself reflex. Don't have to breath can you hold breath. Observe all the things.

What do you mean by this? Transportation? Rumors? Or are you just establishing a general trend for that action? I'm not trying to come across as rude, I just can't tell what you're saying here.

All of the above.

Like how does there government work. Whose in charge. Major laws. How fucked am I as an Alien from the past with outdate marketable skills, no ID and next to no one to vouch.

Gotcha! Though, you aren't really an alien. You look perfectly human, and the town is currently ruled by a human, as well as being roughly 60% human. Nicolette Riordan, who will be succeeded by Amanda Rosewater.

We need to see about getting ourselves some work pronto.

Hoo boy. We have a tie. I'm not sure if I'll be here until 5:00, so I'd like to see a tiebreaker vote or three or whatever you guys want to do.

vote change!

Tie broken!

In support of my vote, I think it would be better to get a taste of the local community and learn more about the world we're in before venturing outside of town to experiment with our ability. Shelter before skill leveling. (Unless there's an imminent crisis that calls for our abilities, which I wouldn't know since I haven't watched Defiance yet.)

They're really the same vote, anyway, just without the marketplace and with more grinding, maybe a little more detail for talking to Clancy.

In-character, yes, that is the more likely reason. However, Sam was a collective SI, so he has the SV thing of wanting the SHINIES!

Also, found out my comp can't handle the MMO Defiance, so I'm jumping through the hoops of downloading it from the PSN. Apparently I don't have an ethernet cable. :/

Dude, literally anything I try to do involving games on my PC ends up with my character looking like they have a hangover and me getting my ass kicked. I had to stop playing Skyrim because of it.
Laptop or desktop? Refurbishing a desktop is a good way to get a decent computer for gaming. i was able to get a middle of the pack system for the price of a low end that way.

edit: i took a 3-5 year old system, got a few new parts (salvaged a power supply from another system, bought a 2 terrabyte HDD, a new video card (nivida 750) and a wireless card) and put it together myself.
total came out to under 450 USD.

edit 2: no wait, we put the salvaged power supply in my little brother's system (homework computer so didn't need much). my power supply was a Christmas gift from my grandparaents when they learned what i was doing.

I also favored visiting the Lawgiver's office over going straight to the mechanic. Together with browsing the marketplace, I figured it would give us a better grounding in how this society works, before trying to meet a working professional. Books can only teach you so much, especially if you don't know what to research.

I'm not sure Larekko's write-in had more questions for Clancy, either, it was just more... wordy.

In-character, yes, that is the more likely reason. However, Sam was a collective SI, so he has the SV thing of wanting the SHINIES!
Hah, indeed. Well, I can see the appeal in that, too.

Vote locked. Plan Larekko12 wins. I'll start writing the update after I warm up from the pool. I made the mistake of doing ten laps in cold water.

EDIT: Of course, that's Florida cold.
