The Firestorm: A crossover invasion game. Looking for a 40k faction player.

So... a question, if no one will bite my head off for asking if I had a chance of joining - Would it be possible to play a faction with a sort of "Horde" style mechanic in lieu of Barbarians in Rome: Total War or Warriors of Chaos in Total War: Warhammer?

Essentially carrying your infrastructure around with your armies, only establishing cities when you actually conquer them ect?

I have tentative list set up and the faction I want is... well...

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!
KILL!!!
MAIM!!!
BURN!!!
GIVE BLOODY PRAISE TO THE SKU-*cough cough*
Ahem...uh...sorry about that. Don't know what came over me...
*glances sideways at shelf full of chaos space marine models*

sidles on over to her arsenal and begins picking out her "Purge Chaos" outfit

BTW one nuke is more then enough. sacrificing your WMD's enmasse is maybe not that economical
Nukes are my ship's standard armaments.
-2 Guardian-class orbital battleships (nuclear power, engines, and missiles backing a solid 2.5 meters of armor and heavy compartmentalization)
I'm talking about using the ones carried by my ships (just enough to get the job done) while I work on bringing the big boomers back home to my base.

Yes but you're tier B, which basically means you don't get to spam nukes on that scale, hell, tier A doesn't get to do that either if i remember correctly. Seeing as you have only like 6 airships in total, I assume most of your leftovers got converted to nukes, but that still ain't gonna be enough to keep them as your go to weapon.

Alright, one nuke. If that isn't enough to make them back off, move in with conventionals.

Ah, You must think I'm talking about a 150 megaton super bomb. No, I mean a piddly little 2 kiloton tactical device.

The Black Circle: Warband of the Black Legion

Leader: Acheron the Archfiend, Chaos Lord of the Black Legion

Why are you here? Ambition. Power. Opportunity. The 13th Black Crusade has dragged on through the 41st Dark Millennium. During the course of the war the warband known as the Black Circle came to hear of an opportunity for power and riches unbound on a world untouched by the Imperium. A world ripe for conquest and plunder that could perhaps be used to gain favor with the Despoiler or even the Chaos Gods. The Chaos marines gathered many others in preparation for their journey: Titans, mutants, renegades, beastmen, cultists, the foundation of a vast warhost. On an odyssey like journey through the warp, following the prophesied rantings and divination of a mysterious crone and the treachery of their daemonic guide, the warband has now become stranded.

But Acheron senses something strange about this world, something that teases the sixth sense. The Black Legion warlord senses an opportunity, one that may secure his rise to power, perhaps something more than even Abaddon could ever grant him.

Everything happens for a reason, and Acheron will find it even if he must tear this planet to shreds. Whatever secrets and riches this world hides will be his...

Tier A: Futuristic factions, Extremely high end magical factions, High end magitek factions, Post-Cyberpunk
Tier A gets:
Traits

+ Daemonic Sorcery: While the warriors of the Black Circle do not believe in over-depending on the power of Chaos, this does not leave them without a sense of faith or pragmatism that finds it advantageous to raise icons to the Dark Gods when it suits their purposes. Their sorcerers and demagogues posses masterful knowledge of the various esoteric-mimetic equations, warp rites, and rituals that thin the skein between the mortal world and warp that allows the summoning of daemons, construction of Chaos rituals, and black sorcery.
(Bonus in research and application of Dark/Demonic magic)

+Chaos Corruption: Where the forces of Chaos go, madness, corruption, and heresy follow in their wake. Where the armies of the Black Circle march, it is not uncommon for them to seed cults and aid recidivist forces of their enemy. Daemonic taint tends to linger and spread wherever they go that facilitates the creation of cults, drawing in the foolish, the desperate, the ambitious, and the damned. If left unchecked, such cults could grow into full blown rebellions or even - Gods of Light forbid - Daemonic incursions...
(Corruption Effect: Bonus to the creation of Cults. Chaos Taint causes social unrest in enemy nations)

+-Only War/Horde: In the earliest days of the Black Legion, The Warmaster Abaddon the Despoiler had declared that those who wore the black should remain a fleet based legion, as to avoid the old mistakes of the Sons of Horus. The Black Circle have taken this suggestion to heart. The armies under Acheron establish no cities save those rebuilt on the bones and ruins of the ones they conquer. Their forces are followed by a train of orbital barges and transports that carry their infrastructure with them. Their encampments are stout fortresses of prefabricated buildings, repair bays, trench networks, and bunkers. Their logistical train is a maw that devours battle loot leaving destruction and ash in their wake. Slave camps run by brutal overseers are left behind, pumping resources from the land until nothing remains or the slaves and servitors die of exhaustion. All of which can be quickly and efficiently packed up and moved with them as the tactical situation demands.

Fist list draft, think the numbers need to be crunched more and I admit I (perhaps foolishly) assumed that ships of the line could exchanged with airships on a one on one basis.

Not really sure what I want to to do with those extra great engine points other than toss them into either more beast of war or chaff, same with the points left over in elite infantry.

Deciding on ships was a weird thing for me to because I was thinking of Warhulks as essentially mobile cities of a sort. I'm just sitting here wondering If I really need them to reflect the mobile nature of my faction or whether Only War/Horde adequately explains it or not. The transports and barges the trait mentions are by no means unarmed but they certainly don't hold up against their equivalent weight class.

EDIT: Bloody crap I forgot the flaws.

Hey!! Creating cults and undermining society is my stick!! Although I suppose you'll probably suffer from being more of a known quantity to the native forces.

Oh, I knew from the start the reaction I'm going to get...

I relish it.

Meanwhile:

Imperium Secundus: HERESY!

House Nikula: HERESY! ALSO WHY CAN'T WE HAVE NICE THINGS!

Sky Burners: KINDA SORTA HERESY. ALSO ADVANCE!

Diamond Shark: PIRATES!

Burning Legion: COMPETITION!

And so on and so on...

Well to be fair the Burning Legion would probably use you as a tool to weaken their enemies then strike when both of you are at your lowest. I'd probably also pull the "Drink and be given the power to survive" sort of thing on those you fight.

But the Cult vs Cult activity will be fun.

Just gonna put this out here: Corrupting waddle dees is more likely to corrupt you then the dees.

Although I suppose you'll probably suffer from being more of a known quantity to the native forces.

Also actually no: he's new.

But corrupting PC factions usually works weirdly. i still don't know how sins managed to push the corruption of the cabal trough the gm's. last time we had a debate about it it was settled that usually PC faction's soldiers corruptibility depends very harshly on their biological and social norms. With the "ah you're khorn cause you spill blood" being about the weakest corruption factor in the history of corruption. Being close to phazon and shizzle probably being the strongest kinds of corruption (that shit corrupted rocks, you can't get much more corruptive then that).

Welcome aboard, do you happen to have a skype?

I'll handle GMing you of course.

Drawbacks will come tomorrow as its midnight here.

By the way what sort of flaws are you going to take? I can imagine that Chaos's chronic backstabbing disorder might come into play alongside the Every hates me problem.
Something along those lines probably. If your not playing Chaos with at least a little back (and maybe front!) stabbing, something is wrong.

So Chronic Backstabbing, Everyone wants to kill you and the obligatory Holy things really hurt.
That and maybe logistics. But that seems to be more a narrative thing then a game thing. I know we can all replenish our forces at more or less the same rate so I'm brainstorming how I can depict the replacement of assets like Chaos Marines or Titans. Everything else (Especially the chaff!) can be more or less replaced.

Well I technically have a boost thanks to a trait and I mostly my stuff as me summoning in some more from the Twisting Nether (usually the same guys who got killed thanks to demonic immortality) and having my forges make the big machines.
