No warnings about "plague spirits" in the training room which can get free and attavk you it you go alone, or the alleged kitchen of undead dinosaurs or anything of the like?

I'm trying to get data on the common landmines here, and I cannot bring myself to take 'no data' as meaning 'no landmines'.
He doesn't talk much, and it didn't come up. I mean the session was actually pretty action packed you know.
Ask him about it later if it's that much of a concern. Or, fuck, ask Butcher. You're literally about to run a mission with him. Trust me, there will be PLENTY Of chances to talk.

Heard that one before. :V

And seriously "If it's that much of a concern"? We have almost lost aeternam at least three times off the top of my head for not knowing about stuff that is considered basic.

IU struggle to see how such things could be viewed as unimportant in light of that.

Well it's actually real simple. Perspective is everything.

When you're at the top of the foodchain, things like wraith dinosaurs, well they're not important. You wouldn't think of them as important, unless you were thinking about it from the perspective of a newbie.

They aren't newbies, they're old. In theory, they don't even get that Aeternam is confused, or lacking in important knowledge. Because that important knowledge is stuff they've known for so long, or been unimportant for so long, they don't remember what worrying about it is.

I repeat "in theory." It could be any number of other reasons, I'm not telling XD

Right, except I wasn't talking about how the NPCs could consider such matters unimportant, but why you seemed to. :V

Edit: But anyway, we digress, what do npeople think about the vote? Should we try the wine thing, or not risk it?

but why you seemed to. :V
I have given no indication as to whether I care or not about such things, except for wordings which have no importance.

Besides, it matters not whether I think it's important, simply if the characters do.
A good example is this next mission. I for one think it is very important. And I'm actually glad the 2nd mission was a failure, so Forgotten would rig this one. I'll admit I had set it out as a possibility, but I didn't think it would actually happen.

I am excited.
-
Regardless, Forgotten would NOT think of this mission as important. And that's what's going to matter, wouldn't you say?

...It adds an element to your energy, which you can use to give element to things you do, like, attacks, or writing calligraphy. Burn the letters into the page Skew, burn the letters!
I've already explained this to you previously. If my answer is unsatisfactory, please rephrase your question instead of asking the same form again. Because I obviously don't understand what you're asking.
It is the delicious chocolate swirl in a vanilla softie. Leave it to the weird old guy in the thread to compare magic to ice cream.

[X]Proceed with normal script, the"Where's my wine" script

So that's three out of four votes for "Were's my wine"

Because I'm excited about this mission, and want to write it before a week goes by, and we already have three out of four, I'll give a bit of free info that would normally cost.
Just to make sure. @Skewfiend

I assure you "proceed" will not in any way, result in your immediate death.
I also can't see any way it will result in your death in the future either. Though I can't make any promises there, my planning capabilities are legendary, but even they only go so far.

 Wordings are how a fair chunk of meaning is conveyed. It is usually considered... best practice... To line up one's wordings with one's meanings. :p

I assure you "proceed" will not in any way, result in your immediate death.
Your specificity fills me with such confidence.

But yes, I doubt I am going to convince anyone, including myself, that trying to make a report as earnestly as we safely can is wiser than betting on the dubious wine thing.

[X] Proceed.

We pin our hopes on you, Forgotten's waifu from before she joined the deaths Pale Horse (Fuck, I forgot her name!)

In other news, if we get back, we should ask Rose if anyone has stats on how rookie deaths usually die.

I guess you could do that, but putting a ton of effort into both "keeping my motives and intentions" hidden, and at the same time "making sure I don't set false clues" in with what I consider casual conversation, is well. Too much.

I try not to mislead intentionally, and do indeed tend to fix quite a few of my wordings with a quick reread before posting anything. However, expecting me to micromanage when talking as a person, and not directly as QM, is just crazy.

Crazy for the same reason that it would be if I held you to the meaning a lot of typos in the votes have caused, instead of the intended ones. I tend to maybe make a question as to intent just to make sure if I'm not 100%, but otherwise just use the actual intent of the vote, over the specific. We're not lawyers here, we're adults enjoying a game.
Your specificity fills me with such confidence.
I'll admit I'm surprised that worked. I thought for sure it would only serve to drive you further away from the vote. Oh well, looks like I got what I wanted instead. Too bad...
Pale Horse (Fuck, I forgot her name!)
Cecillia is what she has requested you call her.
if we get back, we should ask Rose if anyone has stats on how rookie deaths usually die.
That's a really good idea. Now you're thinking like a survivor.

Alright, closing votes with "proceed." I should do the update tomorrow, but I'm also working on a few things including the april contest. So if I take too long, may I suggest you check out the anime:
Boku dake ga Inai Machi (Erased)

Nightingale and I just kind of binge watched it and I will gladly say it is probably one of the best anime I've ever seen. At-least in my top 15. (Which sounds low but my list is MASSIVE)

Bastard one, and bastard two, look at you expectantly as if you'll pull out the most eloquent reasoning for a complete and utter mission fuck up ever. Wait, no, Butcher is definitely staring in straight amusement... You bet Forgotten is too now that you think about it, stupid skull hiding his thoughts. Well fuck them, like they've never failed a mission before. You grumble softly to yourself before trying to remember what exactly the words were. Hmm, wine, you definitely remember that. Actually you think you definitely have it, your memory is pretty good. So why does it feel like you're forgetting something?

Whatever. "Whe-Ack!" suddenly you're cut off by a stinging sensation by your side. Angrily looking at the book in a holster that is basically on fucking fire!

You rip Nixus from his holster as he cools, and you flip him open, to see a single word covered in a golden flaming border, the calligraphy a mixture of picture perfect gold and smudgy purple. "Posture"

...You eye twitch, posture? Why in the hell is that so important! On that matter what the fuck is up with the text, and there's even a heart instead of a period! When the hell did they get close? You narrowly avoid shivering at the thought of what could possibly go on in your soul.

Oh yes, that is definitely amusement on Forgotten's face now, bastard. At-least Butcher is trying to hide it.

You stiffen your posture, straightening your spine noticeably. Which, now that you think about it, as a Death may be important. Fuck you'd hate to develop spinal problems later in life if your spine is all you have... Then again, it's probably a non-issue. "Where is my wine." You say as picture perfect to how she did it with your voice as possible, the cold yet soft monotone only squeeking once. Wait, come to think of it how come she is better at manipulating your voice than you?

That did it, Butcher looks confused, but Forgotten looks-blackness.

That's all you see, pure blackness all around you, and yet you can hear a childish laughter and, is that an explosion? Your lack of, wait, you definitely still have your senses, why can't you... Fuck it. You activate Burst of Flame outward for just a second, and aren't surprised to see it illuminate black water and catch on fire in a small area. You're in your soul, which means that laughter is-

A small pale blonde girl in a frilly white dress and shining blue eyes jumps back through the area where your flames illuminated, her young laughter is soft and sweet, and you have to wonder when the fuck she got in your soul! A moment after she is gone a red skeleton speeds through the flames at a frankly ridiculous pace and it hits you. Forgotten is in your soul, and, chasing a little girl? What in the absolute-boom, like a dam was released you can suddenly see perfectly as the flames in front of you go out and an explosion of massive proportions goes off in the distance, illuminating everything as far as your eyes can comprehend. The lake is actually kind of pretty, the explosive lighting causing it to shine not unlike snow, and you take note that there are mountains in the distance.

Despite this you still worry. "Would it kill them to calm down in my freaking soul?" You mutter to yourself, only to get an answer from right beside you as a man in Chinese clothing sits down. "They are, if they were serious you wouldn't have a soul anymore."

You snap your head to him so fast you hear a crack, and wince. 'That can't be good.' "Who is that anyway?"

He chuckles. "Well I hope you know your mentor, and I'm sure she'll be sad to learn you don't remember her already."

'What, no...' You stare into the distance at the little blonde girl, dancing? Around Forgotten's rather docile attacks like its a rehearsal of some sort. Huh, ya maybe Nixus is right, you're pretty sure he's faster than that. And even from here you can hear that laughter, it's not scared in the least, and you can't detect even the barest hint of malice. It's... cute? No way in hell, absolutely fuck that. There is no way in... Did she just hug him?

"She is rather, different, from what you're used to." You glare at him for the understatement of the fucking century. "But I assure you, that is our soul mate."

Your eye twitches for the second time in a very short period at his wording. "So what the hell is going on?"

He looks hesitant, like he's choosing his wordings carefully but, that can't be right? Why would he need to pick his words? He's on your side. "Think of this like you would a high-school Reunion. The people have changed, but in the end they're still the same idiotic teenagers. Embarrassing themselves in an attempt to one-up each-other."

...Huh. "So you're saying this is play time?" You ask cringing as another explosion goes off in the distance, and the little blond comes running towards you again.

"I'm saying this isn't what it looks like." As he says that, she reaches you and then takes cover behind your back, cowering like a child from an angry parent. Which is rather hard to imagine her doing, and yet the image is probably burning itself into your skull somewhere right, about, "Not fair." You hear from your right, and you turn to see Forgotten with his arms crossed glaring. 'Not fair?'

"It's not in the rules!" ...Holy shit, is this really what- "no hiding behind the kid is implied." He says with absolutely no idea how ridiculous he sounds. Yep, too much, you've officially broken.

"Thhfffffft!" She, did she just blow a raspberry over your shoulder? "Fine." He grunts before pulling a bottle out of thin air and throwing it to her, which she leaves your back to catch with an expression of pure-and then she's flying away, Forgotten's fist outstretched over your head. That's a rather adorable pained whine. Which, now that you think about it is a statement you never want to think again, ever.

You glare at him, which unfortunately isn't as convincing as you'd normally like. "What?"

"What in the absolute fuck is going on?" You get out, stuck between pissed and confused beyond belief.

"Did you really think I wasn't going to abuse her wine addiction to get a free shot?" As your glare tightens he appears to be in some kind of misunderstanding. Because instead of an explanation, or a cracked grin, he simply says. "It's not against the rules, I checked."

As your glare hardens and you settle on rage, he continues. "Tell her, it's not against the rules."

"It's not, I checked." ...You briefly wonder how many different ways to say 'fuck you' there are, and are surprised when suddenly you're back in land of Deaths, Butcher standing there looking rather confused. "Wine?" He asks. "It's an old story I'm surprised is still around, I get it." He then steps through the portal as if nothing happened at all.

"I see. Well, we best get going, vampires to kill." Wait, vampires? How come he was told about the mission but you weren't! He walks through the portal as well, and you're left standing there just thinking for a moment, before shaking your head in a futile attempt to clear it, and run through the portal after them.

Alright, I can work with this.

From now on, I don't think we need to be paranoid about Forgotten finding out about Cecilia.

@Sendicard, no changes to the statsheet, yeah?

Can we get a mantor transfer to the training guy? Because he is 100X better then Forgotten

XD, Sieg isn't a part of the mentor program. He finds the idea of getting attached to a bunch of recruits who will eventually die to be too much for himself emotionally.

I mean, he's very emotive. Couldn't you tell?

Hm. We should also remember to ask Nixus what he can tell us of what managed to glean from his apparent off-screen interactions with Cecilia and Forgotten, when next we have an opportunity.

Odds are she might not let him tell use everything, but we might get some data that way.

Another thing I just realised we can do is just ask Cecilia what actions of ours affect her power in the coming duel, and what effects she has on us, over and above burning our max SP to refill it.

Also, I know this is totally irrelevant. (Well, not really, it does involve souls.)
If anyone ever complains to you that they think Dark Souls 3 is too hard?

Here's a video of me fisting Iudex Gundyr, the first boss.
I mean, not that I have anything to prove.
(Though only the final minute, because GameDVR is a terrible, terrible thing)

Post 53B-Vampires in a castle, how original!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Running through the portal you expected many thing on the other side. Perhaps some kind of giant spider's nest, proving the vampires thing was a joke. Perhaps a dusty crypt, filled to to brim with defiled coffins and the drained remains of the vampires' victims.

You did not expect to be falling towards the ground in a clearing, the forest around you parting to allow the sunlight to shine through. After a moment you realized no one was going to catch you, and time slowed to a crawl.

You... recognize this clearing. And with that realization time sped up again, and you force your will on the gravity around you, slowing your fall enough for you to reach out and catch a branch you knew was there behind you. Even still barely catching it and driving your shoulder out of socket. You want to cry out, but you bare it knowing it'll be over in a short bit, and just as expected your shoulder knits itself before you can count to ten.

You look up and see Forgotten on a much higher branch, looking out into the forest for something. Butcher is next to him, looking down at you with what appears to be concern. Bah, as if he gives a shit.

You climb onto the branch, and jump from branch to branch up to them without even bothering to look. You've climbed this tree at-least a thousand times. You only spare a moment's chuckle as you pass by a small spot you'd once marked as your favorite scouting position.

When you reach them, you whisper, aware their silence probably isn't for no reason. "What in the hell just happened?"

"The portal doesn't understand the Z coordinate, and just placed us on top of the relevant X and Y." He says, mimicking your whisper.

"You didn't think to tell me this because?" Surely he has a good reason.

"I forgot." Nevermind, your eye is twitching again.

"Bullshit, there's no way in hell that hasn't caused you enough problems in the past to be permanently branded into your memory."

"My, how you've grown more confident, to think just a week ago you were a mess."

"A week ago I had just been murdered, I'm allowed a few days to work things out!" You shout, having entirely forgotten about the silence thing.

"I seem to recall a car accident, not murder."

"It counts as murdered by bullshit!" You get out quickly, unaware he knew how you'd died. How much else does he know?

"I recall birds, not bulls." That's it! If he wasn't significantly stronger than you in every damn way you'd strangle him. Actually, you're tempted to try anyway.

Before you can reply Butcher cuts you off calmly, like he sees this all the time. "We have a mission."

Sadly you have to concede that you do indeed, and just as quick as you got angry it flows off of you. Embarrassed that you lost your temper, you try to fight down the nonexistent flush that you know should be attempting to burning the air around you.

You snap away from him and start analyzing the area for differences. Your memory is a little fuzzy, actually, like its trying to reject that you know this place, but you're absolutely-there!

Off in the distance, at-least a few miles away, there's a fucking castle that most definitely wasn't there three weeks ago. You wonder to yourself how anyone could manage that, before deducing that either you simply couldn't see it when you were alive, or somewhere around here there was a seriously talented supernatural creature with a drive to build like no other.

"What is our mission exactly?" You ask, while staring pointedly at the castle.

"Someone has taken up residence around this area, and has taken to kidnapping people and turning them into vampires."

"So we're here to put him down?"

Butcher sighs, before taking over. "Sadly, our client has no idea who is doing it, and vampires tend to be loyal to their sire so odds are they won't give the target up."

"Our mission is to massacre the lot of them in hopes that one of them turns out to be the target." Forgotten finishes.

"I see..." You swallow, not liking the 'ask questions later' vibe the mission appears to be taking.

"Unless you have a better idea?" Butcher asks, almost looking hopeful.

[] Regretfully, you don't. Besides, it wouldn't due to botch another mission so soon because of sentiment.
[] You totally have an idea! And it's absolutely brilliant! (Idea!)

"I forgot." Nevermind, your eye is twitching again.
Forgotten? More like Forgettin'! :V

Also, 1) Where are we? Somewhere near our hometown, or is there something odd going on?

And 2) could you please give me a heads-up if and when you update the character sheets?

What do people think about:
[] Tell them that you might, if given sufficient information.
-[] Ask them appropriate questions and follow-on questions to establish:
--[] What the current plan of attack is.
--[] Whether either of them has any abilities that would allow them to sense errant vampires, magically track, or prevent escape in some fashion.
--[] Whether any of the 'common knowledge' you have about vampires is true, and what the mission-relevant differences are, if any.
--[] What the consequences would be if the particular vampire we seek happened to be out at the time, and went to ground.
--[] What avenues for information-gathering, if any, we have available that would help us hunt down the relevant vampire.

Gaining data and making detailed plans seem like things Red would approve of in their trainees, so long as they are not pressed for time, and it would not surprise me if this was some sort of test. Especially given her attitudes to mindless deference to authority.

Even if the end result is the same plan as was in place already, doing it this way seems useful.

(Regarding morality/sentiment, I doubt we are currently terribly favourably inclined towards damn leeches like the one that brutalised us in our last op anyway.)

If vampires are sun-vulnerable, then we will probably end up doing some variation of "attack at noon, sealing the entrances to prevent escape, and killing veryone in the building".

Also, 1) Where are we? Somewhere near our hometown, or is there something odd going on?
She is pretty sure it's the forest she used to hunt with her dad, and after his death, the forest she went to get away from other people when she needed time to think.
Which is indeed near her home town.
2) could you please give me a heads-up if and when you update the character sheets?
I'm not going to PM you every time I edit the sheet XD. I already have enough to do whenever I update. Just check the front page. I'm writing at the top of the character sheet when it was last updated, and even have a log going with it to go over what it changed. So if that number hasn't changed, you can ignore it.
If you can't bare to scroll down when you get to PG1, the code for it is Original - The Eternal Struggles of a Minor Death(RDQ)

Split Shield(Dark): level 3-Up to 110.25 SP per shield. This skill allows you to conjure a shield of the relevant practiced element (dark) in a "split" second. Its power and size is largely dependent on both the level, malleability of the element used, and amount of SP sunk into it.
Small Compressed air ball(Wind), Unnamed-Level 2-30 SP per use

This ability can be cast anytime within 30 seconds of physical death.)

Personal Stats:
HP: 286 (Max-286-0.476 Regen Per second)
Soul Power: 329.4 (Max-329.4-5.49 Regen Per second)
Let's play!: 1200 (Max-1200)
Soul Power Bank: 3284 (Max 3294) (How much you can use per before the next period of rest) +Down by 10, but the "refilling SP bank at the cost of max SP bank and feeding LP" thing doesn't seem to have triggered.
STR-101 (0)
SPE-144 (0)
END-143 (0)
INT-184.4 (0)
My Own Aegis-rank 1
What the MOA perk does is give a 5% chance(per rank up to 50%) to survive any hit that would reduce your health to 0, with 1 health left over. (This doesn't work if your current health is below 10%)
More to be added:
Reflex Bound(Life Trait): You think quickly, and you think far too much. Because of this your mind is signifantly faster than your body, and attempts to move it tend to be met with a sluggish response, causing you to lose up to 20% speed(D20) when manually reacting. On the bright side, when your brain doesn't have time to muck it up, you automatically react with the full power of your mind and move up to 20% faster. (This can is lost if the difference between INT and and SPE is evened out.) (The % is based on the SPE to INT ratio-Caps at 20%) (Has a reverse trait)
More to be added:
Current status:
Well rested: You feel fully functional, and ready to go!

Orange Cloak
Death Tool-Nixus
Book Holster
Wakizashi holster

Butcher
Party member slot: Ace
Party member importance: Almost Essential
Specialty: Assault and Tactics
Stats: Unknown.
Bond with Party Leader: Unknown
Anyway, SP Bank went down by 10, but our max has not gone down, nor have Let's Play or our current SP bank gone up.

This suggests to me that Whatever mechanism by which Cecilia refilkls/feeds on our SP is not always triggered by SP use, but I don't have enough data to say much beyond that.

The fact that LP rose during our training session without us losing max SP/SP bank suggests some combination of things having changed and my previous theory being incomplete.

It's more that I only update the sheet directly after a post, and even then, only if something actually changed that I can write down.
I would say based on previous experience working with this Quest, unless in a combat situation, or something really fucking weird happens in the narrative, you can probably get away with only checking it every three posts or so.

Butcher Side Story 03-Boredom brings about muses and Roses.
Butcher Side Story 03-Boredom brings about muses and Roses.

It was on his bed that Butcher lay, feeling rather antsy at his lack of productivity in the last day. The past week or so had been some of the best days of his life. Sure he missed his family, but it was hard to really focus on it for some reason. And, that was probably a good thing anyway. Sure the Deaths were eccentric, but they were loyal to a fault. No more did he have to look over his shoulder to make sure he wasn't about to be assassinated, or 'asked' to do something he really didn't want to. Isabella had told him that his fellow Deaths were a family, and he'd yet to find evidence that wasn't true.

They were, rough, around some edges. Forgotten for instance was perhaps a little too laid-back, even if he hid it well. Bastard was irresponsible, that's what he was. But it was ok, because in the end he knew the man had the best intentions. Actually, it probably wasn't ok, Butcher actually worried that the girl under his mentorship might have the totally wrong idea about, well, everything, through pure matter of mass misunderstandings. He had been wanting to find a way to ask her, but she never really seemed to have a free moment where nothing was happening. Unlike him at the moment, he would love to be busy.

Then there was that one who had called himself a fragment of a person. Isabella had just referred to him as "that lazy one who's always scheming." After an hour of time with the man he had come to realize Isabella was spot on. If Forgotten was too laid back, the 3rd was high strung. He never did anything without some kind of purpose, and it got on Butcher's nerves rather quickly.

The goth, would perhaps fit the term 'emo' if he'd actually express anything, ever. The man was a mute, or at-least seemed as such, and had a strange, rather distant way of going about everything. The man was a professional though, his only real quirk being that he was a brick, and that wasn't exactly a bad thing in the profession he had.

The ninth, he thinks it was, was a pretty boy. The man spent about as much time posing when he talked as he did actually speaking, and it made the entire display come to life in a rather disturbing way. Regardless, the man ran most of the Dead Army, and that said some pretty good things about him... Right?

Or Rose? Perhaps the most eccentric of them all. The girl was practically a walking psychology book on terrible coping mechanisms. Ranging from dangerous levels of professionalism, to channeling her extreme mood swings into a drive to get more work done, which inevitably causes her to have more mood swings from the stress. She's a cute kid, though he knew she was technically older than himself, and it worried him to see her drive herself into her work so heavily just to stave off the insanity around her. Though he had only been here a week, perhaps there was some other reason? Her devotion to the lazy scheming bastard certainly didn't make Butcher think so.

It was to these rather pointless thoughts that he heard a light knock on his chamber door, and he sat up to greet the small girl he was just thinking about. The denizens of the land of Deaths didn't really understand the concept of waiting to be let in, though it is customary to knock first. Perhaps it was the assurance that those that live here were fast enough to hide anything private before the door opened? Eh, it wasn't really worth thinking about, what it meant was that Butcher didn't really have all that much privacy. Not that he minded much.

"What can I do for you?" He asked, eyeing the girl who was holding a folder and looking for all the world like she wanted to be doing something else.

"I've come to make a request."

"What exactly is it you'd have me do?"

"There is a D class mission scheduled for tomorrow, Forgotten's pupil, Aeternam will be taking it." This caught his attention, he'd been wondering when they'd get to work together.

"Oh? What do you need me for on a D class, surely she could handle that herself."

"Normally yes, but there are some circumstances behind this that make me worry, it would ease those worries significantly if you would accompany her."

"Worries? I need details."

She gave him a pout and wide eyed stare, which to be honest would have worked if he wasn't a hardened criminal. "Details girl."

"Fine, but in return you can't tell her I was worried, say Forgotten asked you or something."

"Won't he blow that cover wide open?"

"Him? He'll probably think he did ask you."

And there was that responsibility thing, Butcher thought. After a moment Butcher motioned for her to continue.

"Well first, it's a bad elemental match-up. When she first showed up here it would have been fine, but now her dark element is so strong it's overriding her others."

"Isn't that kind of elemental growth a huge sign of something terrible?"

"Oh absolutely, I plan to have her come meet me for a more thorough scan when she has some free time, but at the moment I have to settle for reports."

"And the reports say?"

"Heightened aggressive tendencies, but no real signs of anything that can't be swept away as stress. The cause is still unknown."

"Alright, can I request you keep me posted about that?" Butcher asks while looking slightly distant, but Rose ignores it and replies instantly.

"Only if you agree to the mission."

He continues, ignoring her attempt. "Why is her dark element bad?"

"Because the mission involves vampires, which are basically immune. It stands to reason she may end up exhausting herself pumping out enough energy to overload that immunity. Your primary role in the mission is to support her, and save enough energy to get her out of there if she does indeed exhaust herself."

"The second?"

"The mission takes place directly next to her hometown, and involves a high possibility of killing people she knew in life. I need you to be prepared to support her emotionally if it comes up."

"Of course, why can't you just give her another mission then?"

"Because of the third reason. Not only did her mentor request a D class, which is strange on its own given not just who he is, but that D class missions are normally Dead Army specific. But as if predicting her mentor's request, she was requested for the mission by name."

"... So we're going to send her into the obvious trap because?"

"Because I would rather prepare for an ambush than let her walk into it without back-up."

"And Forgotten can't be back-up because?"

"Oh he will be there, but I don't trust he'll actually be close enough to react in time if its an assassination attempt."

"I see. So you want me to kill the assassin?"

"Well no, the client is a trusted friend, I doubt he's going to be assassinating our rookies. I'm honestly more worried about the first two problems."

"And if it is the third?"

"Don't engage him, the client is a powerful man who is unfortunately too wrapped up in his duty to do the mission himself. If this is a trap, make as much noise as possible to alert Forgotten, and then run like hell."

"I see, I guess I should lend her a hand, but don't forget to keep me posted."

"I thought you'd say that." At that she tosses the folder she'd been holding to Butcher, who opens it and begins to read. Rose lets herself out without a sound, the door closing behind her shortly after.

An hour later Butcher would still be working with a pen and his own stack of paper, going over what he could derive about vampires from his own limited experience. He would not be caught off guard.

Right?

I felt this was a good time to post this, despite it technically being relevant to the current mission in a way that might give advantage, for a variety of reasons.

1. The whole Quest is from Aeternam's perspective so the outlook is obviously very stunted towards how she sees things, and knows things. I figured another perspective, particularly both Rose's and Butcher's might do well to offset that for a brief moment.

2. I haven't really gotten a chance to really throw in the significance of the fact that every member of the cast is acting independently. In a lot of stories, the story revolves around the MC. The other characters mine as well be doing nothing when the MC isn't around. That's not how RDQ works, and the world is moving with every moment.
Sadly at this point the MC has limited ability to effect this, due to both limited authority, and still being at the stage where she's kind of a nobody, but it is still happening.

Everything has a consequence on the world. For instance, due to the 2nd mission failure, Squad Alessia went off alone. It's small, but it is a consequence.

This side story is a good example of that. Things happening behind the scenes, for their own reasons.

3. Quite simply, I like Butcher, and I feel he simply doesn't get enough screen-time.

Gotta agree, butcher should have been the Mc, he's at least thrice as interesting.

But aside from his personality and capabilities, he's also more knowledgeable because of his past. All aeternam is, or was, is a murderous girl with daddy issues.
