The Contest of Power (Wiki-Warrior style story) (Fallout)

Chapter 81: Hitchcock presents-- The demonic canaries.
A/N: some swearing in this chapter. Everyone starts cussing like South Park Characters…. In a place called South Park. Just so you're warned. I got tired of all the cussing after a while, even though it was realistic for everyone to do so in this situation though, and kinda tapered off on it by the end there.

oh, I forgot-- here's a Karina chapter summary for people who don't like reading about Karina.
They all get attacked by those demon yellow birds, they rush back into the hospital building to get away from the birds. they discuss what to do and how to get back to the vault without getting attacked. along the way, they realize that most of the women are too big to get into regular vehicles and race to safety, and they can't run for it without being attacked. So Karina summons more people to drive the regular vehicles so that everyone can get a ride on top of the vehicles or in the back if it's a truck.
Karina also decides to use herself as a distraction first, using a loud blaring hospital van to distract and lure the birds away so that everyone can get to the vehicles outside. along the way, she summons a freakin' huge kaiju by the mountains. The birds' aggression is so turned up that they promptly stop going after Karina to go after the biggest, moving-alive thing no matter how suicidal it might be.

Karina wonders if the birds are diseased, and hopes they aren't but she takes this chance to arrive at the portal back to vault 129 safely. she waits for the others who finally arrive with rescued cows though the horses got away as they fled into the forests.

=================================

"Fuck! What the fuck is with those birds!" one of the girls screamed, as everyone started getting attacked by little yellow birds whose beaks felt like needles jabbing at them from all directions.

Effect: for three hours, this is in Karina's inventory.

Without even thinking about it, Karina started swinging at the air wildly with the thing that just appeared in her hand, while she slowly grew oni-sized.

But the yellow bastards still kept on attacking after dodging her swings!

The Roman Empire was a nation-state on Earth, ruled by an emperor, early in its history. It was copied in its development on the planet 892-IV (known as Magna Roma) except that this planet went on to develop like the Earth's 20th century while the Empire had fallen in the 400s AD.

Effect: the south park buildings get transformed to look more like roman buildings on the outside for two hours, while still retaining the modern stuff inside.

All the other women ran outside at the sound of screams, only to start yelling themselves too when the yellow birds started attacking them too.

"What the hell is going on here!?" Lauren screamed.

"I don't know, those birds just came out of nowhere!" Karina yelled back. She then added, "and I don't know if the birds came with this planet or if it was part of this town or what!"

Several of the birds started pecking at her arms in a painful way, making her cry out again.

The money currency of ACDR. That country Karina rolled last time? It has banknotes denomination of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, and 5000. It has no coins.

Effect: It starts raining endless money for 8 hours, till all of them will vanish back to their reality.

It started to rain what looked like play money to Karina, as it was rather colorful in hues of reds, yellows, white/grays, with the occasional green note now and then.

Sadly, it only distracted the birds for a few seconds before they got to attacking again, but that was enough for all women to quickly retreat back into the hospital building and try to close off the entrance, though some birds kept on coming after them and followed them in.

But now the majority of them were out there and not in here, so the women were able to kill off all of the yellow pests that followed them in.

"Jesus! What the fuck, Karina?" Joceyln demanded to know as she leaned over on her knees, panting heavily as the rest of them boarded up the entrance and the windows with what they could find, as the glass was starting to crack from the birds flying against them in an attempt to get at the humans.

"As I said before, I don't know! I wasn't purposefully rolling for deadly birds! They could've been part of this world already to start with and were in hibernation thanks to the cold, or they came with the town?" Karina could only shake her head in bafflement.

"I don't think birds hibernate," Cindy said uncertainly.

"Well, canaries normally aren't killer birds who like to eat human flesh, do they? On this world they could be like flying miniature bears for all we know!" Freya replied semi-sarcastically.

"oh mi maldito dios!" Maria suddenly cussed loudly in Spanish, and then she looked around at everyone frantically. "What about the horses and cows still grazing outside at the farm and that horse place? If the birds like to eat meat… are they at risk too?"

".....fucking hell. There goes our plan to restart human civilization here." Jocelyn groaned loudly.

"Alright. There have to be hospital vans all around the back right? We just have to sneak out the back and try to grab one or two and take them back to the vault. This way we at least have a few pure alive samples to clone and breed if we can't come back here…" Lauren thought quickly.

Iona nodded. "Sounds good."

For a lack of better plans, everyone then moved through the hospital all the way back to the parking lot where hospital staff normally parked.

Everyone was so on edge that they all honestly forgot about the size issue… namely that only several of them could get into the vans and cars to drive, while the rest of them were too large to fit into vehicles.

Maria sighed as everyone started to realize this. "Sure, I love being a giant woman… but yeah, it's really inconvenient right now. How are we supposed to escape back to the Vault like this?"

The other large women started muttering and cursing loudly.

To make things worse the demonic canaries were circling around the building and had landed in the back parking lot as if to wait for them.

It was pretty clear that none of them would be able to escape if they grouped up together like this.

Some of them would have to act as a distraction to let the others get away.

"I'll act as the distraction, the rest of you get away." Karina found herself saying.

"Huh? But…" Cindy started to protest, but Karina shook her head.

"Look, I don't know how those birds came to be but it's still my fault we're in this situation. It's only right I get us out of this mess," Karina said.

Lauren nodded, being the most practical one in the group. "Very well. Doesn't solve the problem of there being too few of us who could get inside the vehicles and drive them, however. Not all of us are able to make it on foot without attracting the attention of predators like those birds. Ergo, I think we need to go back to the trucks and have somebody drive us while we're in the back as usual."

Karina nodded back. "I'll try to summon some people who can help us with that, then?"

With that she pulled on her power, asking for people this time--

https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Mark_Gaither Roll 20
Mark Gaither was an employee at the Mount Blair Trainyard before the Great War. Mark exhibited strange, uncomfortable behavior while working at the trainyard. Before work, he stroked a train's caboose and whispered to it, making many believe that he was attracted to the trains. Although no one ever saw him do anything sexual, he racked up 30 offenses and Supervisor Eugene Haugstad recommended that his employment be terminated and that the gate locks be changed.

Effect: wow, another permanent one. What are the odds? Anyways, you get some normal random dude who may or may not be sexually attracted to trains.

A woman and a man both appeared, both at the normal heights for humans and therefore perfect for helping drive the vehicles out there while the amazon women would hitchhike in the backs of trucks.

The woman reacted in an upset way as she looked about herself, while the man just blinked blankly at everything around him in a mildly puzzled way.

Karina felt shitty for doing this, but they honestly didn't have any time to waste. Those little yellow bastards could break through one of the glass windows very soon.

She used all of her charismatic powers at full max to help win over the two of them as she gave a very abridged verison of what was going on, why they were summoned, that the summoning wasn't permanent, and that they could be sent back any time soon.

Seems that the two of them didn't have any mental defenses against her charismatic manipulations, and thus it was surprisingly easy to talk them into doing what she wanted them to do, despite the dangers they might find themselves in. More so once she said she'd pay them both any kind of compensation they wanted for this.

Mark said, "that's great. I just got fired from my last job at the trainyards, so I'm up for any job, even a driving job."

And that was it?

So with Rada, and Mark that was now five people total who could fit into a regular vehicle and give everyone else rides. Well, four now that Karina was out, as she was gonna serve as the distraction for the birds while the rest of them got away… hopefully.
Karina stayed behind as the group went back to the entrance to wait for the signal.

As soon as they got out of her eyesight, Karina rushed outside towards the hospital vans as the yellow demon birds started mobbing her again.

Thankfully the vans weren't unlocked at all, so she was able to get into it very quickly and close the doors behind her. She put a swift end to the birds who managed to get into the van with her during this process with a small scalpel she picked up along the way, and then she searched the van to see if it had a key. They actually put the key up inside the overhead visor flap that you used to block the sun.

…. Seriously, the security here was so bad, but right now she was grateful for it as this meant she found the keys easily.

She started up the hospital van and found the button that toggled the loud blares and siren of the hospital van so that it was not only being noisy as hell but was flashing its lights brightly.

There, that should get every one of those yellow bastards' attention. She turned on the wipers too and tore out of the parking lot even as the birds started chasing after her.

She drove quickly around the round road leading towards the front of the hospital, being careful not to run into the trucks that were still parked there.

She then yelled, "Come on, fuckin' yellow freaks!"

It seemed that her plan was working, the bright lights and loud sirens were attaching all the yellow birds to her, as they started attacking her van mindlessly.

She turned on the window wipers and tore out of there, having the large swarm of birds chase after her.

She sped off down the main street of the town, but it seems the birds were circling around and trying to smash into the windshield to get at her, causing the glass to crack slightly with every hit.

And it was still raining foreign money everywhere. But it was barely doing anything to distract the birds anymore other than a way to slow down their flying ability.

She pulled on her power and--

Triceratops is a three-horned dinosaurian kaiju from the Ceratopsid Family of dinosaurs, which appeared in the series, Kaiju Ouji.

Effect: for four hours, this beast of a monster will rampage around nearby in the mountains. RIP mountains.

There was a loud rumble in the distance…. And…. some giant-ass creature just appeared, though thankfully not in the middle of the south park town but instead in the mountains themselves.

Judging by the size of that creature, it would've flatted the whole town had the placement been too spot-on.

All the yellow demon canaries seemed to freeze up, pausing as they took in the giant creature…. Before leaving to try to attack it together as a swarm??

What the fuck. Were those canary things just suicidal as fuck or what? Maybe they were all so diseased that their diseased brains had the aggression dial turned up all the way to 11. As a result, they had zero self-preservation skills and would gladly attack everything they saw, no matter how big and dangerous the enemy was.

….. Shit, Karina hoped that wasn't really the case here because if that kind of disease could be passed on to humans? It'd be like a zombie plague, only with angry humans instead of undead creatures.

But, she'd still take this distraction for what it was, as she was now free to drive the hospital van back to the vault entrance. Hey, this van probably even had medical supplies back there for emergency cases, right? So even if everyone else was forced to abandon the boxes full of medical stuff it still wouldn't be a complete loss. Hopefully.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once she arrived at the portal's entrance she foundered between deciding to take things out of the van one by one, or just shrinking down the hospital van and taking it through the portal.
But she decided on shrinking down the van, it would save her time instead of going back and fro to grab everything from it.
Once she went through the portal and walked out of the broom closet in vault 129, she stood by it waiting for the others to arrive as she looked through the portal.
…….
…..
God, she fucking hated waiting because the minutes seemed to stretch out into hours, even though they didn't… it just felt that way.
Finally, roughly 30 minutes later she could see all the vehicles coming up towards the portal, and Karina ran back through the portal to greet everyone.
"Is everyone alright??"
Maria sighed. "Yes. but we lost the horses. I was trying to escort them all into this animal trailer I found but then this giant creature thing in the distance started shooting lighting from its horns very loudly and scared the crap out of them, they broke the fencing and then ran off in the direction of the wooded area. I couldn't catch them all in time. So much for saving the horses from the birds."
Jocelyn looked more relaxed. "I was able to grab most of the cows on the other hand and set the rest free so that they could take refuge in open barns or go into the woods if they wanted for grazing. That is if the birds don't take them too."
With that, she gestured at her own animal trailer full of cows.
There was loud rumbling in the distance, and they turned around to see that giant dinosaur thing shoot lighting out of its horns, as it seemed to be swatting at something too small to see from this distance. But all of them could guess what had gotten it so riled up.
Lauren shook her head. "What a fuckin' waste. And here I honestly thought we could start over in a new world here."
Karina patted her on the back. "Don't give up so easily. We just have to find out where those birds come from, and then put an end to them."
With that, she moved around Lauren to help shrink down all the vehicles, even the animal trailer with the animals themselves, so that they could all be quickly moved through the portal.
a/n: I honestly thought it was going to be nothing but low rolls, but then that thing where it was different pages with roll 20s back to back happened. And both of them feature people too.
a lot of people like to read more about Karina than they do Regan, but I do feel like I shouldn't show the characters any favoritism as an author... even if I kinda did create Regan to be something of a hate sink. who some of the readers are starting to like over Karina. ^^;;
I feel like it should be up to the readers to enjoy the story however they want it. XD
Fair is fair, if Regan has a skip via recap option then Karina should to.
Still though, those birds really did a number on all the good luck they've had with the other world town. Hopefully the Kaiju takes out most if not all if not all of them before it disappears.
I'm honestly baffled at the idea of people reading for Reagan and wanting to skip the Karina chapters, but yeah fair is fair if there's a summary for one there should be for the other...
I hate Reagan, I hate Raiders. I never got the Nuka World DLC, because it basically has you running with pieces of shit who eat people, drug them, and torture people for fun. The people who cosplay as Raiders would either be shocked in they were stuck there in real life and die, or join them and deserve a fate worse than death.
Raiders will violate, toy with, and torture children just as much as they would grown ups. They are the type to eat not only children, but babies themselves. They are people who celebrate brutality, the worst of nature, and get off on it. Likely to join you would have to do monstrous shit that they would not allow you to do in a game, and yet people go: Hey let's roleplay has monsters in human skin, who sleep with anything that has a pulse, torture it after, and then kill and eat it.
I just look at it and go, yeah life would be hard, but the sick and twisted being praised turns my stomach. I don't ever want to read Reagan because his moral stance makes me wish him to die in gruesome fashion.
Basically they act in ways that many of those roleplaying as them, would be sick as a dog having to actual do it, and those not... well I wouldn't see them as humans.
Sorry if that makes anyone uncomfortable.
Okay I just need something cleared. Did Regan get a book of the Never Ending Story or THE book itself. I vaguely remember there being a really important book in that movie that started the whole adventure.
I think it would need to be a 20 for it to be the actual Book. Though that's something Karina should get, though some kid from fallout having magical adventures in Fantasia would be heartwarming either way...
God damn you just can't get anything nice. Horses would be a huge boon in Fallout as long as you can feed them. I think people would eventually get tired of Karina pulling so many duds/bad things and try and banish her.
I've been thinking about why Regan and Karina seem to have wildly different outcomes, with Regan being luckier in his rolls/pulls while Karina has next to no luck at all.
on a meta-level, I think it's because the evil wikis I picked tend to have.... let us say, far more hardcore and therefore far more interesting stuff? like for instance the horror wiki isn't going to devote a whole page to a random vending machine or something, they'll only focus on the plots and characters.. and that's it.
while the goody-two-shoes wikis not only cover awesome stuff but also a lot of boring-ass mundane stuff like a broom or whatever. they'll say things like, "This is the broom that the hero character used to whack satan in the head with."
but yeah it seems that in-universe Regan seems to have a luck stat of 13 while Karina's luck is at 2.
Honestly it does seem unfair but it is helping you fulfill that popular writing doctrine about lightsabers and deathstars with little work needed.
I think there's also the fact that Regan is perfectly wikking to use and abuse the people he summons, while Karina, as a not asshole, ask for their opinion and sends them back. Rolling a person will always be a highroll to Regan, but if she didn't just so happen to need two normal sized humans that can drive a car, those would be complete duds. And it's not like anyone ever actually refused to help her, but they could, while Regan's can't, reeally, because of his mind control powers.
Edit: Thanks for this wonderful story and this chapter you have crafted! :)
Technically they can refuse Reagan if they are strong enough, and then they usually try and butcher him for his temerity. Or it is an effect that may just want to murder him.
You know, recently in Marvel they gave Mary Jane a luck based power that is essentially this ability. Only her power only works in a certain defined area, like a resurrection power and it will last for a short while. Not the resurrection itself, just how long she has the power to resurrect something.
I still wonder if the power could ever do something like what Chaldea/Fate Stay Night does? Essentially downloading a copy of the person's consciousness into a transmuted copy of their body, one that will essentially cease to be once they die, and the copy will also cease. Though that would be interesting if parts of the copy entered the summoner to enhance certain aspects of them..?
Honestly you could just use the power behind the summoning to transmute things into exact duplicates without taking the stuff...
Sorry, I keep talking through the power set, and wondering about alternatives to just summoning something that maybe essential in another world...
Chapter 82-- Massive land terraformation!
For those who don't want to read Karina's side of things:
All the medicine that everyone looted and managed to bring back despite the demon canaries' attempt at making a meal out of them was fairly large in numbers. Though half of the medications weren't what the robot needed at all, he was still able to make enough revival fluid to wake up 15 women in total…. Meaning that 27 out of 95 women would be awakened.
Lauren and the others question if we really need to wake them up right away though. As we lost a lot of resources (aka losing that other world because of death birds), that would allow the women to survive. Suggests that maybe we should only wake up one at a time, one per week.
Karina is about to send away the woman and man that she summoned last time. Rada is grateful but Mark doesn't want to leave.
Mark is from the pre-war world here instead of an alternate earth, and once he learned that there was a nuclear war happening in his near future, one that he would most likely die in? He makes the logical conclusion that staying here instead of returning to a more familiar world would actually save his life because there's just no way he was gonna survive the great war at all. So he's very insistent he stays.
Seeing the logic of his words, Karina shrugs and goes, "Fair enough".
Karina goes outside to try to summon another town like she did with south park, only to terraform the whole northern commonwealth into a healthy, radiation-free land complete with healthy grass, plants, and trees! The Northern Commonwealth is now a place where nobody struggles to grow food at all. In fact, they'll probably find plenty of edible things all over!
==================================
The next morning, everyone was gathered together in the newly built hospital room, even the summonses, and Karina noted that Gamma the Eggman robot, seemed to be relatively happy here… for a robot that is.
Mr. Handy who was in charge of synthesizing the revival fluid then said, "Congratulations, everyone. All your efforts have paid off. While half of those medications weren't what I needed, I still was able to make enough revival fluid to awaken 15 women! With the rest of you in total that means 27 out of 95 women will be awakened, and we'll be one step closer to waking up everyone!"
Everyone clapped at this.
That was pretty good news, even if in the backs of the women's heads they all were somewhat worried about long-term survival, especially now that they couldn't settle in on that new Earth for a while until they found a way to deal with those blasted birds.
"At least I still have my cows," Jocelyn mumbled under her breath.
Lauren then spoke up. "I hate to say this, but… maybe we should hold off on awakening everyone at once? Awake them up one at a time once a week instead?"
Freya caught on. "Until we have enough food to last everyone a long time, you mean."
Cindy then said, "Or I find a way to purify everyone so that most of us are normal-sized? I notice that the bigger we are, the more we need to eat.. Which is part of the problem."
There were murmurs of agreement at this.
Karina then said, "And maybe I should try to summon a town on this side outside the vault too? This way it gives everyone more options besides staying in the vault or leaving it for long extended periods while they explore the world or whatever. No way we can even offer the choice to colonize the planet on the other side of that portal until it's safe to do so."
Jocelyn nodded. "That's a good idea too. The two-headed cows you summoned weeks ago seem to be doing well up there on the surface, they're getting fat on that golden alien grass that seems to grow fast like a weed. Now if I can make sure that the normal cows we have down here won't die of radiation poisoning then I could try breeding them together and make a living up there. Maybe build a house of my own up there by the slaughterhouse pen?"
Mr. Handy then said, "Very well. You all can choose to awaken everyone or not at all at your own discretion. I shall continue to make plenty of revival fluid until there's enough for everyone… and I also shall put them in my hiding spots as well, in case that cad comes back."
That comment from the robot brought the mood down somewhat, as they felt guilty for leaving the sleeping women so defenseless when a dangerous killer might come back for them eventually.
But unfortunately, practicality won out.
Rada cleared her throat very loudly to get everyone's attention.
She and the man by her side had been summoned just the other day, and Rada didn't seem to appreciate the random chaos that she had been thrown into headfirst, even if she did get a long lengthy explanation of what the fuck was going on here afterward once they were all back in the vault.
"Karina, I believe that you promised me some compensation for my time and that you'd send me back. No offense darling, but all of this is a bit too much for me. I want to be home again." Rada said in her sultry-sounding, made-for-noir-movies voice.
Karina blinked. "Right, I did promise you that. Hold on a moment."
With that, she rushed out of the room towards the room holding the fallout shelter machine. They had been cutting up giantized gold watches and stuff to smelt them into small gold bars using the fallout shelter machine as it was a recycling machine.
She grabbed the said gold bars from there and hurried on her way back to the new hospital room. She then stood in front of Rada and asked, "Will this do as compensation?"
Rada inspected the gold bars, and once she was satisfied that they were in fact real gold, she smiled. "Yes, this is sufficient. Now, send me back please."
Karina nodded and touched her shoulder. Just like that, she disappeared.
She turned to face the man known as Mark Gaither and was about to say something to him when he interrupted.
"Wait, hold on. So. if I understand this correctly from what I've been learning here thus far ever since yesterday… you can summon people from different timelines of this world here, just not people from other worlds. You and I were born on the same Earth, but we both come from different timelines. Is this right?" Mark asked.
Karina slowly nodded, wondering where Mark was going with this.
Mark then crossed his arms. "I've been learning a whole lot about the Great War and what happened to the world from the robots here, and also from the men guarding the entrance outside. I learned a really interesting fact. Namely, the bombs dropped not very long after I got fired from my job. Meaning that everyone I knew back then gets to die horribly in a nuclear holocaust."
Karina nodded again, this time more solemnly as she gave Mark a sad, pitying look.
"Okay. In that case, I don't want to go back at all. I don't want to die too, so I'm staying right here where I am!" Mark exclaimed, surprising Karina.
"Oh… alright. I'll admit to being surprised, as the other people we summoned from our own Earth here wanted to go back in order to save things that were most precious to them." Karina commented.
Mark chuckled. "Lady, I'm just a trainyard worker. My parents are old as fuck and stay in a retirement home. I don't have a girlfriend or a wife. All I have to my name is a shitty apartment room. I don't have much to start with, and I'm sure that both my friends and parents would understand if I chose to save my own skin here, especially if there's no way for me to pull them over here with me. Also? If I tried to warn people about the bombings, I'm pretty sure nobody would believe me. Hell, the assholes at the trainyards didn't believe me when I told them I didn't have a sexual fetish for the trains as they assumed! They fired me just because I liked to talk to the trains now and then. Thinking about it now, those assholes deserved their fates."
Freya focused on a specific part of this conversation as she said, "you talk to trains? Why?"
Mark looked mildly embarrassed. "Errm, it was a thing with my family where we liked to anthropomorphize machines. We were big on 'Thomas the Train' and would watch it together growing up every day until that show got banned for allegedly supporting communism. So I fell into the habit of giving all machines I worked with names and talking to them now and then. I even gave my own coffeemaker a name and talked to it. I know it's stupid as hell, but I can't help it. The guys over at the trainyards didn't seem to understand and instead decided that it had to be a fetish thing. And the more I tried to explain that this wasn't the case, the more they dug their heels in and believed it to be the truth."
Freya looked sympathetic at this. "And they fired you over this? Wow, fuck those guys."
Mark chuckled, relieved that at least one person seemed to understand where he was coming from on that front, because not so many were so understanding of his admittedly weird quirk. "Yeah."
Karina just shrugged her shoulders at this. "Okay. If you want to stay, that's fine with me. And it's not like I can't send you back if you ever change your mind, anyways."
Mark looked relieved at this. "Thanks. Besides, it looks like you guys could use a man around here. Uhh, not in that sexist way, but more in a handyman way. I'm pretty good with machines, you see."
Lauren smiled at this. "It's true, more hands around here would certainly free us up to do other things. Welcome to Vault 129."
Mark nodded and then smiled ruefully as he craned his neck to look up at some of the taller women here. "Just have to get used to giant muscular women from now on, I suppose?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After that, Karina honestly didn't know what to do other than leave vault 129 and get started on trying to summon buildings for everyone to use on the surface. And maybe check up on Terry, and see how he was doing with trying to repair their red car.

So she did just exactly that, though she checked on Terry first.

The red car was now suspended high in the air on cinderblocks while Terry was under it, seemingly working on aligning things and the like so that it wouldn't shake so much anymore when they drove it on uneven ground and instead would provide a smoother ride.

Karina didn't think propping it up on cinderblocks like that was very safe, but on the other hand, it wasn't like they had a proper garage. Hmm. something else she really should summon.

She walked over, bent down, and then whispered, "Hey, Terry. Anything you need?"

Terry crawled out from under there and then sighed gustily. "Too many things. This car needs a lot of work. All the holes and scratches need to be patched up. Need to armor it up even more."

Terry looked over to the Hummers that Karina had given his men. "I'm sorta tempted to take apart one of those to use as parts for this car, but…that'd be destroying a perfectly good car to save this one."

Karina then said, "I'm out here to try to summon more buildings because my ladies want the choice to live outside here if they want to. Hopefully, we can get you a garage that can give you the tools you need."

Terry's eyebrows raised at this. "Yeah? Good luck then."

As Karina got up to walk away, Terry went back under the car to work on it again.

She walked up the hill, past the slaughterhouse with the pen full of brahmin cows behind it. She paused to look into it, and upon closer inspection, it really did seem like they were all fattening up... Their ribs used to poke through but now you could hardly see it anymore. It was amazing what fast-growing alien grass could do for them. And now that she noticed the gold grass things, it seemed that they had spread all over the place very rapidly. And in the distance, she could see some deer grazing on it too.

….. Karina would be more worried about the impact it had on the ecosystem if it wasn't already so fucked up anyhow.

She continued her walk until she was near the graveyard where all the men were buried but she was still standing a fair distance away from it.

She took a deep breath, and said "buildings… give me buildings," as she pulled on her power.

https://citybuildinggames.fandom.com/wiki/Construction_Guild Roll 12
The Construction Guild is a building type in Pharaoh.
Construction guilds facilitate the erection of monuments. As such, they should ideally be located close to monument construction sites.
There are three types of construction guilds: carpenter's guilds, bricklayer guilds, and stonemason's guilds. Bricklayers and stonemasons lay bricks and stones respectively. Once properly staffed, they send random walkers to patrol the streets (which do nothing) and send destination walkers to work at the monuments. Most monuments only need the services of one of the two, but a few (such as the mud-brick pyramid) require both. Due to the vast size of most monuments, many bricks and stones need to be laid, and having multiple bricklayer or stonemason guilds helps facilitate speedy monument construction.
While carpenters' guilds are susceptible to only fire and stonemasons' guilds only to collapse, bricklayers' guilds are at risk to both. They are all extremely undesirable to live next to.

Effect: as the roll is a 12, Karina gets a run-down stonemason guild building that looks like it's in danger of collapsing.

Karina frowned heavily when she looked at the building that didn't even look safe to walk around in.

"Really? Come on. I know my power can do better than this." with that she pulled again.

https://animanga.fandom.com/wiki/Akira_Toriyama Roll 16
Akira Toriyama (鳥山 明 Toriyama Akira, born April 5, 1955) is a Japanese manga artist and game artist known mostly for his creation of Dr. Slump in 1980 and Dragon Ball in 1984, and currently, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman in 2013.

Effect: Karina copies all of this guy's talent as an artist and writer. Which is pretty cool, considering he's the creator of Dragonballz. But still useless in this situation, however.

Nothing happened. Well, this was clearly a dud.

She pulled again.

https://fantasy.fandom.com/wiki/%C3%86th%C3%A1lian_Kingdom_of_Temme Roll 20
The Æthálian Kingdom of Temme, often shortened to Temme, is a semi-large nation and a colony of the Æthal Empire in the World of Dercassé. It is situated in the South-east region of the world and its climate is moderately cold. The World of Dercassé is a fantasy world much like the World of Narnia, often shortened to Dercassé.

Effect: Holy shit, this is a powerful roll! The lands across the entire Northern commonwealth get terra-formed to become radiation-free with pure soil and water perfect for things like farming and stuff like that. And Temme is a large kingdom nation, so some of this effect spills over to a part of Minnesota, Idaho, Utah, and Nebraska.
But it's mostly Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming that gets the brunt of this blessing. All the dead plants, dead trees, etc get replaced with fantasy-like plants not too dissimilar to the ones from Narina, as the page claims that the world of Dercasse is similar to Narina though there are a lot of differences. This means we get new species of plants never seen before in addition to the regular trees like pine trees, and so forth. The new species are things like magical flowers with petals that can be used in potions to heal people. Neat. All the resources of the kingdoms are copied over as well, meaning that the states now have resources they didn't before. The chances of discovering gold, and diamond mines are high. The Northern Commonwealth still gets to keep all of its famous landmarks though, so the landscape isn't altered too much.

Karina's eyes widened as the land around herself seemed to come alive, the dark brown ground becoming greener by the second until she was standing on a very green, grassy hill with tall grasses, and in the distance, the trees were no longer dead but looked to be normal alive pine trees. The small forests surrounding Vault 129 and the mountainous areas were no longer black and dead, but now a vibrant green color dotted with bright oranges and reds from the Oak and sycamore trees whose leaves had a tendency to change colors in the fall.

….. Did she just seriously resurrect the lands above to become alive and fertile? And there might not be any more radiation here?

This was big, she had to go down and tell the ladies about this! And if Iona confirmed that they all could farm up there without worry about radiation, then this meant they didn't even need that other world anymore, they could settle up here!

She found herself running back toward Vault 129 and ignored the men when one of them said something to her…. She wasn't really listening.

================================================

A/N: I was going to do the usual 9 pages but stopped at page 7 in my word editor…. Because, how the hell do I top this roll? The other future rolls seem so lame in comparison.

And it's funny because just a while ago we were all bemoaning how Karina's always unlucky and tend to get duds most of the time….

And then this happens. It's almost like RNGesus and the ROB were trying to make up for Karina's massive loss, or something.

And it would seem that Karina finally caught up to Regan in this contest, in terms of which rolls would affect the world the most. Do you know what this means? Because she scored so high with this roll, we take a gander at Regan's actions next chapter to see what he's doing and see if he's doing anything that would counter such a high score.

Getting so much gacha vibes to how Karina's rolls go. Most are either meh or useless but when she does get something significant, it has a habit of being a big deal.

Holy shit! What a roll. A lot of upsides but some downsides as well. Better prepare to be invaded. A lot of people aren't going to like someone else having this bounty for themselves and are gonna come claim a bit for themselves. Or to destroy it as some people just love to see the world burn.

A mighty kick to Reagan's balls just landed, at least in the sense of SCORE.

Though now we just have to see what Reagan does to fuck things up, like summoning the Death Star.

That would be a sad end to the fic, the Death Star destroys Earth, only to realize they are stranded with fuck all living planets around unless they want to play with the Zetans.

Maybe Reagan will roll the FEV Virus and get himself and those near him turned to Super Mutants, and then we can see if he can still roll anything. Of course I won't read the chapter, just the summary.

Still bugs me how some people love reading about people being shits to other people, luxuriating in living through the other person vicariously, and yet would whine and moan if they ended up there and got stepped on by the person they were cheering on. People like Ainz are cool to them until they end up in the story and one of his children decide that they need entertainment in the person dies in a terrible fashion, and they are said entertainment.

To them its living through a person who is allowed to channel their inner asshole, kill whoever they want, and just be shitheels with no consequences. Yet many finding themselves in that roll would either be elated to be the monster, horrified, and/or find themselves infinitely less successful with no plot or narrative armor to protect them and hand them wins on a silver platter.

... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he's gone far enough to be outside the area affected by this yet? So that'll be interesting, especially if it comes at a time where he isn't rolling, and thus can't assume it's something he did.

I feel that a fierce struggle may begin for the land. It could be serious.

why....

why more reagan?

i hate it out of universe so MUCH!

anyways, I think that roll really evenly matched the score, though I had a question @Aurora Moon, when you finish this story will you make a new RNG story?

So we have several states worth of land purified of the poisons and rads that plagued it, as well as filled with healthy plants and clean water again. That's awesome, especially the various reactions from the human settlements, especially since that's not a insignificant area of land or water, especially once they connect with other water sources outside the AOE . Which is why I hope Aurora does a interlude chapter focusing on this soon, and everyone's reaction to the Northern Commonwealth becoming a paradise... Though there's going to be some very angry supermutants since their FEV pools are gone...

Though does that mean the Golden Grass is gone now? That's too bad, since it seemed to be good fodder for the cattle...

I suppose the Sunflower Forest is also just normal, albeit giant Sunflowers now hopefully, since all the rads would have been cleared from it. Though there's still the giant spiders to deal with...

He's in Montana, which means he'll definitely notice, as well as everybody else in that state. Plus side is that any remaining puddles of the various toxic goop outside of lab samples are also gone, which is good. I don't much like Regan either, but the rest of the people of the settlemen sans the raiders, shouldn't have to suffer.

Though considering the land was purified, did it effect Neo-Bowser City in anyway author? Though I suppose it was a spiritual or magical purification...

and to think. I already alluded to the NCR and the Buffalo group being at war in the background already. woot for being able to use existing plot points!
Yeah, the NCR and Buffalo Soldiers not in the know are going to have a Brown Pants moment when it happens. Though this will just make the NCR more determined to claim this land, as it's cleaner then the NCR itself!

I don't think you realize how large an area those states actually are. These aren't areas that can be easily destroyed by groups like the BoS. They would be stopped long before they even destroyed a quarter of it...

Though does infrastructure count as part of the resources? Because all the roads, tunnels, and bridges being repaired would certainly be helpful, though how advanced they would be if they ended up outright replacing some would be up to the author...
