Regan couldn't help but giggle hysterically both from shock and giddiness.
He was at Medicine Lake, where the lake had grown a few sizes ever since he saw it last, to the point that it was now overtaking the poor town that used to be by it and now all he could see of the buildings were the roofs, the rest were underwater.
But, that wasn't what had him in such a state. It was the fact that there were gigantic, green mutated men attacking him now. They were so massive, towering over him at a good height of 9 to 10 feet.
They looked like something straight out of the comics books, the kind of typical goons you'd see the heroes beat up before they finally got to the big bad. So his inner kid was gushing over how cool and powerful they looked.
His adult side, on the other hand, pointed out that it might be more prudent to get himself to a safe distance where he could admire them from afar. Too bad that the green monster men seemed to be chasing him now.
He then quickly drew on his power to see if it could help him out of this jam.

https://evilgenius.fandom.com/wiki/Stats -- Roll 11
Exactly what it says on the tin… it shows you the stats of yourself and others.
Effect: Regan is now able to open up a game-like UI that shows everyone's stats whenever he observes something. He can hide this interface window from others so that only he can see it, or allow it to be fully visible for others. However, because it was a low roll, the stats won't show him things like HP, their skills, and whatever else if he uses this ability on people who he hasn't summoned at all. Instead, it will only tell him the basics such as their names, and some brief background info.
It will show him the full stats on things and people that he DID summon, however. |
Regan frowned when nothing seemed to happen. His body wasn't even changing or anything? Did he just get a dud this time?
Time to pull again.

https://dungeonkeeper.fandom.com/wiki/Single_Example -- Roll 6
The tutorial dungeon you get to play in at the start of Dungeon Keeper.
Effect: for six hours, this dungeon will appear. However, due to it being so close to Medicine lake underground, it'll be completely flooded and thus not usable as a defensive base against the Super mutants. Also, Regan was above ground and still fleeing the mutants so he wouldn't have found the new cave entrance to the dungeon in time anyhow. |
ARRGGH! Why wasn't his power cooperating with him right now? Nothing was still happening!
He looked back at his pursuers, to realize that the green-skinned mutant men were steadily catching up to him, mainly because he hadn't trained himself well to run perfectly… he was just a spoiled kid after all, and he always opted out of track and gym in school whenever he could.
He was now regretting that decision because had he more endurance and stamina right now, then maybe he'd be able to outrun them.
Much to his dismay, he tripped over a rock he could've sworn wasn't there before… and… now the mutants were surrounding him.
He quickly got to his knees and threw up his hands. "Please don't hurt me! I give myself up!"
One of them hit him from behind, painfully knocking him out.

"Tonight We Strike" is a song sung by Janja, Mzingo, and the Hyena Clan from The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar. (lyrics inside the link)
Effect: For seven hours, Regan gets a weak verison of the VATs ability highlighting where he should strike at his enemies. |

--four hours later--
Regan woke up with a throbbing pain in his head, which only hurt more when he rubbed the back of his head.
"Ow."

Medal of Honor (video game series) -- Roll 16
A video game about WWII.
Effect: Regan gets the training and skills of a soldier from World War II. He'll know the military basics but won't know how to use modern firearms or modern army tactics. |
Regan grumbled when he realized he suddenly knew how to be a soldier.
"Oh, now it decides to be useful!" He grumbled again, as he looked around and realized that he was now in a suspended cage of some kind. It was like a giant birdcage made for humans, one that you could suspend from the ceiling. And down below…well, it was a very long drop. He was apparently in some kind of ruined gymnastic room with very high ceilings like he was at a YMCA-style place or maybe in a High school? He wasn't sure where he was, actually, beyond it looking like a gym room.
When he started studying the cage he was in, he was surprised to see a user interface window pop up in front of him. It read as thus:
Rusted human-sized, bell-shaped cage.
Condition--In poor shape. Could easily break with the right kind of force, if you're willing to brave the long drop below.
Other Info-- This cage was made by a Supermutant blacksmith decades ago, and due to it still being usable nobody has bothered to replace it yet. Explains why it's in such poor condition. |
Regan blinked.
Hey, wait a minute. Earlier on when he pulled at his power, and nothing seemed to happen, did it give him this ability? Huh. So it was something useful after all, just not something he could've used at the time.
It was then the Supermutants came into the room just below him, and Regan took this opportunity to observe one of them.
The UI window popped up again, this time displaying different information that Regan wanted to know about.
Name: Whisper
Race: Supermutant (More specifically, the Mariposa FEV breed).
Condition-- Excited.
Other info: Whisper is proud of having the ability to be stealthy and quiet where most aren't. Hence why he names himself Whisper. Currently, he is excited because the group caught what was clearly a vault dweller, which means there's a vault full of humies nearby.
Whisper knows that, unlike the Surface humies who hide behind spiky walls, underground humies make for better and smarter super mutants if you dip them in FEV.
Whisper wants more of their numbers to grow and was sad since Surface humies in Town of Hel whittled down their numbers and caused them to flee. |
Regan pondered the information it gave him.
So, this meant that there were humans out there after all! And that they were at war with the Supermutants, who were humans who had been forcibly dipped into some kind of… serum? A serum that had most likely been made by the USA army in the past, by the sounds of it. Maybe it was a serum that was similar to the ones they had at Vault 129, only this one altered humans with a completely different method.
Yeah, it made sense that they'd set up different super-soldier programs as to not put all of their eggs into one basket.
But at any rate, he'd have to see what the women out there were like. It would be wonderful if they were the type to be easily impressed, and most likely to go along with whatever he wanted. Then he wouldn't need to go back to Vault 129 and select himself a mate. There was a high chance that the woman he choose might end up being a competitor later on in life if they decided they were tired of being Regan's second-in-command in the new society that they were going to rebuild together.
So it might be better if his woman wasn't his equal to start with.
While he was lost in thought, the Supermutants had noticed that he was awake now, and was now using the chain levers to lower the cage.
Regan blinked as they lowered the cage. They were going to question him where Vault 129 was, no doubt.
He calmly sat in the cage as it kept on descending until it hit the floor with a loud thud.
A different super mutant, looking far lighter in hue than the dark-green-skinned one he had observed, called out in a booming voice, "Human! You shall be taken to the leader where you will be questioned! Do not struggle!"
Regan merely nodded calmly as he observed this one.
Name: Kick-up
Race: Supermutant (Mojave Wasteland Variant)
Condition: Watchful, Wary.
Other info: Was one of the few super mutants who migrated up from the Four-States Commonwealth. Pickings were too slim back home, even when the super mutants made peace with the humans back home thanks to a lone mailman and traded with one other.
Doesn't like sharing with humans, so the peace between super mutants and humans chafed.
Joined this new group full of different mutant breeds because he agreed with the leader's idealogy that Super mutants should dominate everything. |
Huh. so in some states, humans, and mutants were able to live together peacefully. Interesting. Wasn't happening in this one though.
He calmly stepped out of the cage soon as it was opened for him and with that, he followed Whisper, with Kick-up trailing behind him so that he wouldn't have the bright idea to run for it.
Turns out that this place was like a YMCA faculty more than it was a high school, which answered his earlier question from before.
He was promptly herded into a large area that used to have a full Olympic-sized swimming pool, and now only half of it was intact. It was full of a strange glowing green liquid, which Regan guessed was the aforementioned FEV serum thing that his UI windows had informed him about it.
A quick observation and the resulting popup display window informed him he was correct.
Next to the pool, there was a large ramshackle throne made out of broken wood planks and a mattress. Upon it, there was a purple-colored Supermutant sitting on it, and he appeared to be wearing strong leather braces all over his head and mouth, some of it even pulling his lips back in a permanent sneer. No doubt to make him seem more intimidating?
He observed him.
Name: Rocksalt
Race: Supermutant (Nightkin variety)
Condition: Watchful, hopeful yet wary
Other info: Even though he acts like he's the OG leader of this faction here, he's second in command. The real leader is off somewhere, leaving Rocksalt to be in charge here.
Hopes to be rewarded heavily by the main leader should he be successful in finding out where Vault 129 is from the vault dweller they caught. |
Regan could only shake his head at the stupid names they all seemed to have. Was it a requisite of becoming a super mutant that you gave up your human name and be named after something random?
Rocksalt rose from the throne in a way that he clearly thought was intimidating and cool, but Regan only stared at him with a blank expression on his face as Rocksalt went through the motions.
"Human. You are a vault dweller." Rocksalt said rather bluntly, getting to the point.
Regan smirked heavily.
"That I am," he agreed. "And?"
"You will show us the vault you came from." Rocksalt replied in a commanding tone of voice.
"What's in it for me if I agree to do this?" Regan shot back, "If I'm to do as you want, I demand a reward."
This seemed to catch Rocksalt off guard, as he hadn't been expecting that response.
It seemed that he had planned out the entire script in his head, where he would get the human to confess where the vault was. Or dip the human in the FEV pool if the human was being uncooperative, and then have the newly-turned mutant show them where the vault is. That is if the ex-human hopefully remembered enough from his old human life to know where it was.
He thought that Regan would break down crying and plead for his life, or something like that. So now Rocksalt seemed to be blue-screening as he tried to formulate a comeback to Regan's demand.
Finally, he asked, "And what do you demand in return?"
Regan just shrugged casually. "A cut of the profit, of course. And for us to be allies, if possible. I could be your inside man, you see. People aren't going to shoot me on sight like they are you, are they? I could go inside those human villages and open up the gates for your kind, enabling you to win the battles against the humans every time. Just think about it."
Regan had come up with that on the spot if he was being honest. Truthfully, he still wasn't sure if he would do such a thing. But to him, it depended on whether those human beings were assholes or not. Regan had no use for humans who didn't bow down to his every whim and command, after all.
Rocksalt chuckled. Now, this was familiar territory. "Human, that's the oldest trick in the book. Do you think Rocksalt is stupid, hmm? Soon as you get to a human settlement you'd just hide out there and never come out again, with no intention of honoring that deal. You'd say anything to save your skin."
Regan blinked and then sighed. "Other humans already tried that? Oh Well, that was worth a try."
With that, Regan pulled at his power, hoping for a distraction so that he'd be able to make a clean getaway.

https://thevoid.fandom.com/wiki/Triton Roll 20
Triton (Тритон) is a large whale-like parasite that dwells in the Lemna reservation in Ire's Realm.
Effect: Because we rolled a 20, this means that Regan can summon the creature to this world permanently instead of just taking on the whale-like parasite's attributes or abilities. |
A massive mutated-looking whale came out of nowhere, crashing through the ceiling and into the glowing green pool of FEV serum.
Everything was complete chaos after that, as Regan ducked out of the way of the whale's violent thrashing as it found itself in a space that was too small for its tastes. A hit of its' tail against the walls caused holes in the walls to open up, and the ceiling was now crumbling down as it kept on thrashing around like a fish out of the water did.
The super mutants were all attacking it now, with more coming out of the woodworks.
Regan took this opportunity to sneak off through one of the newly made holes in the walls, and then ran for it fast as he could once he was sure that nobody had spotted him and were going to come after him.
=============================================================
A/N: thought it was time for Regan to have some bad luck of his own. Fair's fair, right? And this way we learn more about Supermutants!
My headcanon is that there were originally no Supermutants in the North Commonwealth, but then they migrated there from California, the four states, and other neighboring states. As such, there are no super mutant types that are unique to North Commonwealth that you wouldn't see elsewhere. Save for the Candian Supermutants, which is a different story entirely. But we'll cover them later on.
