Gotta have to say that after looking back on it that I have to apologize to Nevill and Spectrum in regards for the whole argument about Etherealness, I misunderstood it and confused it with being a trait and not as spell, thus believed it couldn't be turned off and would have been a permanent choice for us, kinda like the trait a few chapters back or the elemental pledge, when this wasn't the case

While this does mean that it is much better then I initally assumend and that I take back my arguements about it, I still hold the firm believe that a solid base on which we could expand upon would serve us way better and a single uber skill, no matter how good it is
It should be noted that I was arguing against your belief of those specific drawbacks of Etherealness--I actually agreed that it's a so-so pick at the moment. As noted, after MATH is taken, then it becomes stronger because it's not auto-beaten by anyone with the slightest degree of diversity.

I can agree in principle that having a solid base to work on is better than single trump BUT not in these specific circumstances. The base is already very strong and frankly monofocused into DSci. It's more important to instead cover that by taking the selection that prevents people can block DSci from removing all of her tools, not going even deeper into it. That's not developing a base. If your vote had instead been to start taking more Elemental or Enchanting or something of that nature, I could at least buy that argument, but not the spending plan that you have conceived.

Fair enough that makes sense but I'd be wary of focusing to much on these special abilities going forward we need to also continue investing in the basics and not just save up for the specials.

[X] That there was always a better way to do something.

The TA nods at that.

"A fine lesson to have learned. Now, show me what it is my work has taught you."

She gestures at the center of the room when you look around unsure, as if saying 'go ahead'. With the invitation, you do so, opening a portal to Nowhere in the middle of the TA's room. Simple really, but now your spells are based off of the TA's own work and theories. You've managed to incorporate it entirely into your spell work, and although it doesn't really show, you know that the two of you can feel the difference. In fact... You turn your head slightly so you can see Ruby standing next to you, and her expression is a bit puzzled as she looks at the portal you've opened. It looks like she can feel it as well, even if she doesn't really know what it means. When you turn back to the TA, you see that despite how drained and exhausted she looks after contending with the Archmage's wards she has an honest smile on her face. You think it's the most expressive you've ever seen her actually- she looks truly, earnestly happy.

"That's good." She says. She looks about to continue before stopping then starting again.

"I would love to talk to you more about what you learned, but I'm afraid that this is the best I can do for today. The Archmage's wards are... Something else. Regardless, I think you've understood yourself the vast majority of what I would have wanted to speak to your about. Come see me sometime tomorrow when I'm feeling better."

You nod, say your goodbyes, and leave her to rest.

---
Eventually, the day draws to a close and you head back to your room. Finally, you reach the door and turn to Ruby somewhat awkwardly.

"Ah, goodnight?" You turn the statement into a question under her serious expression.

She seems to struggle with something for a moment.

"Please don't make me worried about you like that again."

You're not really sure what to say to that besides...

"It's not like I could have known some idiots would try to start a rebellion on the one day I decide to leave the college."

She nods, but looks unhappy.

"Well. Just bring me with you next time, okay?"

You just nod back, unsure of what else to do.

"Goodnight." Is all she says as she turns and leaves for her own room.

You watch her go for a moment before turning to enter yours and get to sleep.

Listen.

[] Yes.
[] No.
---
Dawn comes, and when you wake, you're not sure how you feel. There was something-

"Attention all students. Given that the faculty is currently too busy to engage in traditional methods of teaching, I have decided that today you will be taught by the best teacher of all. Experience. Not dying is a passing grade. And as an aside to certain students, doing another student's course work for them is of course cheating. As is standard policy, cheating will result in a failing grade for all involved. Standard group work rules apply."

The end of the Archmage's speech is immediately follow by an explosion from somewhere far off in the college. That is immediately followed by the wall across from your bed growing legs and arms.

Shit.

How will you deal with the hostile earth elemental that is about to try and splatter Saphira's brains all over her room?
[] Nope. Immediately open a portal to Somewhere and not deal with this.
-[] Bring your bed with you. Might as well sleep in.
[] Open a portal under it and dump it Nowhere.
[] Run away out of your room.

After your immediate response what do you do?
[] Hide Somewhere all day and get some studying done.
[] Look for Ruby.
[] Look for Henry.
[] Look for the TA.
[] Go to the library.

Assuming you don't just hide in a pocket dimension all day, will you help out your fellow students if they seem to be needing it?
[] Yes
[] No.

A shorter update, but better that than padding it out unnecessarily. Also a lot of votes, but eh.

[X] Yes.
A mysterious vote on whether or not to learn something, in an ominous text colour? How could this go wrong?

[X] Open a portal under it and dump it Nowhere.
We aren't going to be beaten by a wall. That's just undignified.

[X] Look for Ruby.
After yesterday, not finding Ruby would be a little heartless, though I suppose the TA might be safer.

Assuming you don't just hide in a pocket dimension all day, will you help out your fellow students if they seem to be needing it?
[] Yes
[] No.
This is the only one I'm personally torn on, though I'm pretty sure the rest of the questers will choose to help.

Well now we certainly could do well with a good pocket dimension, but sadly it appears WE DID NOT SKILL IT

That is all will say on that matter

[X] No.
Bad Sammy, stop doing this to us, I don't wanna start an uprising

[X] Open a portal under it and dump it Nowhere.

Might as well keep it and dump it at something else that will most certainly try to kill us in the future

[X] Look for Ruby.

Good God better look for Ruby before she gets an aneurysm from all the stress we put her through

Assuming you don't just hide in a pocket dimension all day, will you help out your fellow students if they seem to be needing it?
[X] Yes

Strength in numbers is just say

[X] Yes.
Has any vote like this in the history of questing ever actually received a 'no'? :V

[X] Open a portal under it and dump it Nowhere.

[X] Look for Ruby.

The swarm of bunnies has the right of it, by my reckoning. I think Saphira would be the kind of person to help, but we could always see what Ruby wants to do about it?

[x] No
I'd potentially like a write-in for this last one, actually, which would be something to the effect of helping people who need it but can also pull their own weight? We don't want to risk getting kicked out, and I imagine Ruby is probably the same, but it depends. @Wander - "Standard group work rules apply."?

This is too great not to do. Ruby is a big girl, she can wait a bit.

[X] Look for Ruby.
But we might as well look for her later on.

Not sure on the second yes/no.
Yes seems more in character, but I don't want us to be caught 'cheating'.

How about it puts us on the path of rebellion and leads us to do something incredible stupid, remember we had a choice in that regards before

Yes when it was an incredible dump one like now

Look this colored text indicates the Listener, which we know from The World Anew
Also, we've reached the part of the quest where The World Anew gets to start offing important characters. So that should be fun.

Quick write-ups on Wrath and the Pact, so you aren't voting blind on that front.

Wrath, fifth lord of the Abyss: An incredibly powerful demon, he is empowered by the Chairman to take total command of the city's forces and lead the city council in the event of a military assault on the city. A brash and confident personality, his willingness to take risks is tempered by an incredible tactical mind. It was his machinations that led to the Listener's defeat at the hands of the Archmage during her invasion, and his careful direction of the city's lawkeepers, hired mercenaries, and the rest of the council that prevented the city from being razed to the ground by her vast army even as she was killed. Permanently missing an arm after his brief engagement with the Listener during the battle.
The Listener refers to Sammy, we know this from Sammy's history lessons or depending on your interpretation to the current Champion of the Goddes of victory,
Based on past choices regarding the Godess of Victory

[] Bash her stupid face in. This is my stage you insolent little brat.

this 'Sammy choice' is most likely a bad choice and one from regardless of what we do most certainly comes with consequences that I don't think we are ready to deal with yet,

Alright. My preferences would either grabbing Ruby and hanging about with her for the day, or grab Ruby/Henry (since he knows everyone) and attempt to organise enough of the students so that everyone does their part that will work with us on this and nobody dies/gets a failing grade.

@Wander You have multiple Y/N votes that are likely going to be a pain to vote count because they're not going to get differentiated, FYI.

[X] No, don't Listen.

[X] Open a portal under it and dump it Nowhere.

[X] Look for the TA.
-[X] Leave a note in your room to the effect of where you're going.

Ruby will be fine, the TA said see her tomorrow. ;P

[X] No, don't help.

Failure is bad, it's a dick rule but we're not strong enough or connected enough to violate rules.

[X] Yes

[X] Nope. Immediately open a portal to Somewhere and not deal with this.

[X] No

[X] Yes, listen.
[X] Open a portal under it and dump it Nowhere.
[X] Look for Henry.
[X] Yes, help.

Can someone tell me why we think turning down the god is a good idea?
As I see it, the only positive side to it is that it looks like we're trying not to pick sides. but it's not like listening sets our path in stone, whereas not listening has us being rude to a god.

Besides, we're not going to stop talking with sammy, so we're not escaping this one way or the other.
