The College of Jewels (Magical Academy Quest)

Ah, I never specified where it should be. Sort of 'pour it everywhere and see if any irregularities show up'.

Why don't you post a corrected plan so that I would understand better what you want from it? :)

Here's an attempt? Going to sleep soon anyway.

[X] No. Something here isn't right. There's no way she can be doing this.
-[X] Pour water around you to find where she is, then dump a pile of ashes on her to mark her permanently.
-[X] Also try to cover some of the air above you with this. Her song mentioned floating.
[X] Keep moving away. She's probably going for a one-hit win, and you remember how fast Ruby could move when she wanted to close distance.

[X] While she is distracted, open a portal to the harp and try to wrench it from her grasp.
-[X] If she does not let go of the harp, open a portal under her feet while you are struggling and shove her there

Her song does not mention floating as far as I can tell, but her projection certainly does float.

Stored items:

Of things that can mark targets, sand (especially wet, sticky sand) and ashes (that stick to skin by default) should fit the bill. Water can help find her, I guess, but it won't keep her revealed.

Going with an improvised D&D Glitterdust here.

@Wander, doable? Is the part where we try to grab a harp through a portal feasible?
Grabbing her harp like that would be doable but finicky and would take up two of your spells.

Like yesterday, I'm in the mood to keep things moving, so the vote will remain open for another hour. Feel free to comment if you think I'm going too fast by the way. I don't want my eagerness to update to leave people unhappy.

No. This is just too absurd. There's no way she can be just dancing right beneath a portal to the elemental plane of fire. Most buildings couldn't stand for long against that kind of force, and even the ones that could wouldn't look very good afterwards. This has to be some kind of trick.

Your eyes dart around the arena. There's no way she can be near the center. The elemental planar portal ensures that. And if she had moved directly towards you under cover of whatever this illusion is then she would have reached you by now. That meant she probably backed up and is currently circling around. Good. That meant you likely had enough time. You dismiss everything but the elemental planar portal, leaving the most direct route to you still barred, and begin casting anew.

You think quickly. The spells running through your mind as you keep a watchful eye around you, back pedaling quickly, but with purpose. You're nearing the wall of the arena now. That was good, it would narrow the directions she could come at you from. What was the optimal arrangement of portals to see her coming? You decide at the last second. The first, a larger portal above you pouring down a torrent of water directly on top of you and spreading out widely around you. The second, above you, catching the water that would otherwise have fallen on you, leaving you surrounded on all sides by a curtain of water about a foot thick. You legs were soaked almost immediately by the water sloshing back when it hit the ground, but the rest spread out around your box of water and would hopefully alert you to Addy's presence if she tried to reach you.

You watch. And wait.

And wait.

Nothing.

Her illusion continues it's performance unperturbed.

You wonder if-

Be Not!

You're frozen for an instant at the declaration that just came out of the suddenly visible Addy's mouth. The portal pouring water down around you ceases to be, the water that would have slowed her down vanishes like it was never there. She seems winded as if from a great effort and you take the opportunity to...

[] Run away and begin casting an elemental planar portal. You know where she is and you think she's committed to finishing the fight rather than running away after whatever she just did.
[] She's close enough to be in range of planar teleport and it's fairly fast to cast. Close in and take her out personally while teleporting her harp and anything else useful she might have away. You should have the advantage in close range with her as tired out as she looks.
[] Bash her stupid face in. This is my stage you insolent little brat.
[] Write-in.

I know how often SV is tempted by shinies, and this isn't me telling you not to go for it. I'm just saying you should probably consider potential consequences. That being said, nothing horrendous will happen no matter what you pick.

Now, what do you mean by that? Is that Sammy rubbing off on us?

Hm, sounds like she hit us with Dismissal. I wonder why we couldn't see her coming/approaching. And why did we only see her mouth now? Looks like she had to interrupt whatever she was doing to cast it?

I would take her for someone stronger than we are, considering how we couldn't wrestle ourselves from her grip, but that means little with portals.

What is with the color? And Invisitext? Is there something else in play that I'm not getting?
Remember how we are associated with the Goddess of Conquest? This might be an option that makes us closer.
I'll say it explicitly- Colored text will almost always imply the presence/action of either the divine, or something so powerful that the distinction isn't particularly meaningful.

Let's see...Saphira is currently 'intimidating' for her quick stomp last week. Smashing someone's face in would add 'terrifying', I think.

Also, the Goddess of Conquest makes it so Saphira doesn't kill anyone unless she means it. So if Saphira is somehow enraged and means to kill someone, at least in the heat of the moment, maybe...

Hum. I still wanna vote to bash her face in, from a sort of 'imp of the perverse' morbid curiosity.

I don't want to risk the 'divine' option. I could easily be persuaded to go for range instead, I have no idea which is better, but I really don't want to open ourselves that much to outside influence.
