Interesting dilemma. One way or another our tech-sense is going to get linked to one or the other or our identities, I think. The question is which we want it linked to.

Should we think about this as a supervillain we need to deal with or as a potential sidekick or superhero that we should support?

If they're super (and they are), Olivia Octavius, Slightly Irregular Intern, probably isn't the one to deal with them either way, IMO.

Given how stressed he appears, our civilian identity probably has a better chance at avoiding escalating the situation.

... I dunno about you all, but I'm now kind of thinking our pal here is less a mastermind, and more a poor schlub trying to manage some sort of runaway proto-AI bringing him shinies, like a cat or Star Platinum at the beginning of Stardust Crusaders.

He's already operating on a hair trigger, going in as Liv might deescelate the situation, whereas going in as Arachene might make set something off

Liv was Liv and visiting the facility the first time that this happened. I am not sure how practical it would be to connect one visitor's presence amongst the large number of people there at the time, but it is a possible data-point. I will now go looking for a couple of quotes to support this statement...
"- No, look, Phil, I'm looking at it right now, I'm looking at my computer. It's fine. There's not even anyone on the floor. Yes, I know I told you to call me if there was a security breach, but you said that somebody plugged something unauthorized into the mainframe, and I'm looking at the mainframe and the doors are still closed." Your blood ran cold a moment. "Yeah, I don't care what JARVIS said, my eyeballs say there's nothing plugged in. We're not shutting it down, debug your shit."

He jammed his thumb on the button and looked up, right at you.

"You with the tour?" he asked.

"Yeah." you said numbly.
"Unexpected Input" it read simply. You tapped the phone's camera and got a picture of a skinny, sharp-faced man in maybe his mid-forties with a mop of hair atop his head and a pair of glasses. You recognized him instantly from your internship: Phillip Grant, the head of the Computer Engineering at Stark Industries. Except he looked like he hadn't slept or showered in a month.

"No... nononono, not again..." he muttered into the phone, before it slipped into his pocket and the camera went black. "It's happening again." You tracked his phone as he moved to what you assumed was a staircase, then you hopped down off the roof to the side of the building.
Poor Phil, I do hope that he didn't get fired over that unexplained security beach. Still, at least as a "fired by Stark" villain, he will have lots of company.

It's a risk if people start to understand arachne's power, but there is a possibility that connecting that power to Liv's true ID could end up connecting her to Arachne or the Stark police robot fail, and that is super bad. Liv can always burn Arachne as a false ID and start over if needed, can't do that with the true ID. Always protect the true ID.

Why should we note answer as the goddess of computers?
Crediting the "unidentified input" (and thence our technopathy) to Athena is actually a great idea. Especially if we cast Athena as being able to ride along in electronics like some kind of techno-ghost, since it'd deflect away from the part where nobody's been able to find her home base or meet her in person or anything.

edit: Even better, it gets people more correctly informed about Athena's identity re: being part of a multiple system. I feel like that's pretty valuable?

This is a super interesting idea, but ooh boy Athena is so super vulnerable if anyone even gets a hint of what or where she is. Even the idea of being unable to escape the server room in the case of a fire would make me nervous. Might just be the mom in me but she's an 18 month old fork of a 16 year old's brain, gotta protect the poor kid!
