The Amber Age: Pantheon Edition (Collaborative)

How does this game work?
I prefer the ones about making rhyming couplets

You select individual words based on themes unique to a character of your choice. It has a very intriguing story despite its anime aesthetic. Do yourself a favor and don't spoil yourself. You have to stick until the end to see its full glory.

Best of all, it's free.

I just have one question to panda will you help me make monsters please
I will if you help me craft @King Tharassian Dark Soul inspired God of the Flame and Ash. Speaking of that allow me to divide said hypothetical God's domains
Death/Ruin/Doom/Destruction/Oblivion/Entropy as the main unifying theme
Fire and Ash/Volcano for elements with maybe storms added
Sorcery/lore for the Magic aspect.
Simple and elegant. Though open to differing views.

It seems to fit as far as I can tell.

The "Doom" bit is suspect, but I'll chalk that up to your personal brand of thought. :D

We want to be a psychopomp, not a CE moustache-twirling jerk.

If people like you keep on coming I'm going to have to write about an apocalypse cult within the tribe obsessed with characterizing their mountain as some sort of font of hell and ruin.
Of course they'd all be edgy adolescents who'd hole up in the dungeon immediately.

...Hm. Wonder how an early cultist tradition would be like - an actual Satanism-equivalent.

Skill Spheres explained
Okay, it might be far too late, but I want to try to help and make sure that you guys pick the options that you think fit the best thematically, so I wanna toss some ideas out there and you can let me know how you see it/feel about it:

Destruction Sphere: The Sphere of Violence.

This is one of the two spheres where interactions are directly related to one another in an oppositional way.

Warrior, the Powerful.
Archer, the Precise.
Skirmisher, the Speedy.

These are the archetypes and the way they interact.
The powerful tank can bulldoze through the pinpoint strikes to destroy the Archer utterly.
The keen eyed sniper can predict where a Skirmisher will appear next and dismantle the lightly armored figure with a well placed shot.
The quick and tactical shocktrooper is a master of hit and run tactics, able to evade the Warrior's massive impacts in order to cut them down to size.

You have to think about what'd fit best with what you have, what compliments your portfolio well? You're aiming- primarily- for a Volcano Spirit or some weird Animal/Beast Spirit. Most likely, you'll work best with Warrior or Skirmisher, respectively.

Peerage Sphere: The Sphere of Divinity.

This is the second of the two spheres where interactions are directly related to one another in an oppositional way.

Majesty, the Glorious.
Performer, the Flexible.
Scoundrel, the Tricky.

The King always laughs at the jester, for he knows that jokes can not remove royalty.
The Jester knows a liar when they see one, for they themselves wear many masks.
The Liar always knows how to twist a king's pride, for they know that a crown is merely metal.

With this Sphere, it'd work well to think about "How do you want to present yourself/how would you be presented narratively". The twist is: how you'll be presented to other divine figures. If you're going to become a crafter/dancer/actor/ritualist spirit, then Performer might be for you. If you're going to become a mighty and powerful mountain and/or volcano, then Majesty serves its purpose to let other spirits know of your aura. If you're a more subtle, trickster sort, then Scoundrel is obviously for you, since you'd likely not want to be as obvious as the other two.

With the main consensus' of the thread, Majesty might go the best for the type of 'loud' archetypes you'd be consolidating.

Dominion Sphere: The Sphere of Mortality.

This sphere is similar to Peerage, in that it deals with social interactions, but it's not an oppositional sphere and as such, has more broad effects.

Lordship, the Demanding.
General, the Commanding.
Wanderer, the Exploring.

These are a lot more simple to understand, since they're all about how you want to interact with mortals. Easy.

Do you want to give commands and have them followed, because you're exuding "Authority Figure" vibes? Then Lordship.
Do you want to direct mortals into battle, to lead and guide them? Then General.
Do you want better options for non-follower mortals as well as more actions related to travel? Then Wanderer.

Let's be honest, you're going to be some sort of mountain-esque figure, so Wanderer probably isn't the best. Lordship would be my first guess, but it depends on if you want to be the type to lead an army or rule absolutely? General might help those with the "undead army" thoughts (I'm guessing) while Lordship is just a straight up "Do what I say" pick.

So, in short, this is my take on the spheres and what the options represent as well as which ones fit most closely, thematically, with what has been discussed by the majority (as well as what may or may not work regardless).

I just have one question to panda will you help me make monsters please

Obviously this would need to be a bribe sorted out by the entire voting thread. Otherwise I'm not monster making for free, not for other people. It takes valuable resources, my dude.

E:

I'd strongly encourage plan voting for this one, because messing this up could mess you up for a bit, until you got your next point in something.

I only support such a stance during war time. If it is reasonable I will seek peace and harmony if not... Then I get to be a fount of hell and ruin. Be kindly and annihilate all that would attack you and yours.

@Pandemonious Ivy thanks for the summary, it also reminded me I needed to vote.

[X] Plan Volcano Spirit
-[X] Warrior
-[X] Majesty
-[X] General

General because that is still flexible for monsters (hi @Omegahugger), death machines (hi @Wheel of time ) or golems (which can path into the previous two and are my inclination).

General also fills in a vital gap between gold man, Panda's spirit and us that I don't think we have a combat character between the three.

A death god/psychopomp who also patronizes warriors and commanders?

We're getting a bit too Norse, methinks.

But as long as we become Anor Gwynito, and have our Ashen Heralds, I'm cool with it.

[X] Plan Volcano Spirit

So in the interest of promoting productive discussion I wanted to spark the idea of how these choices interact with our Lorekeeper and Secrets spheres. How can we leverage Majesty, General, Warrior with our ritualistic focus?

Also with the current winning combo of Wanderer, Performer, Skirmisher the same question. How can we leverage them to our ritualistic focus?

Unfortunately I'm el busy-o so I can only leave this here for you fine folks to chew over. I'll be back in a few hours.

This is an interesting assumption; I'm not sure how well it holds.

I mean, it's not something i'm particularly invested in 'proving' because it'd require me to take evidence from 57 pages as well as me, y'know, not being part of the PC character voter base.

But the most consistent and varied (not merely the 'loudest', but the 'most') mentions of a direction- no matter what other personal desires they want- tend towards "Volcano/Mountain God". Now, I'm not going to be bothered in the least if Yung @Candesce the Sauce God comes through with a clutch last minute play and manages to turn the entire thread onto the idea of Sky Jellyfish Death God. Not at all. Go for it! (Seriously, I bee leaf n u)

That being said, from what I've observed, that seems to be part of what most of the voters who have expressed desires have wanted. Either Volcano or Monsters. So... I merely responded to those I've heard the most, and if I've offended or unintentionally biased my commentary as a result, in your eyes, I apologize sincerely. <3
