SV's 10x10: Celebrating one hundred great threads across a decade

Oh hey, I'm finally awake enough while one of these hunts is happening, sweet. Looking forward to the next clue, then.

I'm hoping we get To Boldly Go, as one of the longest threads and mass collaborative quests starting in 2016. Wasn't it up to 5 GMs or something by then end? I had a lot of fun in that quest.

Yup, you got it before me but that one absolutely changed the game with threadmarks. It has 6034 threadmarks in total, not counting the 2 staff ones. Given it's 17,752 pages long (and was briefly the longest written work in the English language), it's actually more than a little impressive that it only has 2 staff threadmarked posts.

Finding a clue also felt better because you could share it immediately and help somebody else's search. Anyway.

.... So, did you know that bit about the threadmarks off the top of your head, or were you just looking at that thread the moment the banner went live, or what?

Also, for posterity, the clue was:

Single-handedly prompted a significant update to threadmarks tooling.

I guessed because I knew it was like six million words of daily updates, but I didn't really know that trivia specifically, so getting it on my first try was weird.

>2016

I might actually have been active enough in those times to know a thread or two.

Also, dear mr admin and organizer crew. Can I please ask for a staggered release on this so it's not at 3 AMish for us EU folks? My sleepschedule is beyond fucked, but on behalf of all the users from here, ples?

I forgot how popular PMMM used to be on SV, but that really used to be the go-to for magical girl stuff. I think we saw more PMMM content than Nanoha or Sailor Moon, even. This scavenger hunt's been a real throw-back to old trends.
With a start in 2014, I figured SV started after the Nanoha and Sailor Moon fandoms began fading. But perhaps I overestimate how long ago that was. Do we have any big Nanoha works on SV?

I wonder if Ves' Ten Pounds of Gold will be one of the picked threads. It was popular enough to make the cut, and actually inspired someone to start up a professional wrestling career (I forget which forum member that was though), which is something most fiction, published or otherwise, can't say.

in the vein of "massive thread, 2 staff posts" im predicting the arrival of Paths of Civilization, which iirc set a record for most staff action in a single thread
if i had to guess the clue for it will be something like "bringing a new meaning to the phrase shipping argument."
Real Heads Know.
(We're sorry chehr)
edit: wait thats a 2017 one. FUCK

We'll have to keep an eye out for it tomorrow. 77 staff post threadmarks, wow. I knew its discussions were fraught, but I never got into that one so I hadn't realized it was that bad. The fact it stayed open and lasted for 5,838 pages is crazy with that much staff attention. Looks like everyone calmed down in the sequel though; 1,134 pages and only 7 staff threadmarked posts.

I'm actually somewhat curious as to when Negaverse omakes started to become a thing, I first ran into them with Paths of Civilization but I doubt that was the first time.

because Academia Nut is really good at what he does, when he's allowed to hit his stride. That was the first or second quest i got really invested in, and its what kept me coming back to sv

The clue for the next thread is: When hungry, eat. No matter how hollow it makes you feel.

Number none?
edit: nope, another 2017 one to look for tomorrow

A Destiny of Strife, a Hollow's Quest (Bleach)

The life of a Hollow is hard, and often short. Full of brutality and pointless strife, as he or she struggles to keep one step ahead of rivals, constantly racing against their hunger, a Hollow must be swift, strong, without mercy and lucky. This is the tale of the life of a Hollow, from...
