[X] Ultrawide Deflector (Prototype)
Prototype and manufacturing score difficulties? Come on, that's why we have Utopia Planitia.

Gotta get that additional vertical space and one more torpedo launcher.

If something went wrong, we can always bugger the guys at Utopia Planitia for troubleshooting.

So, this time, can we not put ourselves at risk of being killed by angry martians?
That is sadly unaoidable as a member of SDB just accept it and continue doing your job. If a angry Martian or spacedock one engineer confronts you ask them confused why they are angry about doing their job. That should help make the situation clear. If the angry being refuses to see sense declare that if they know so much about designing starships they should have joined the SDB instead of the Engineering department.

The same type of fear the Romulans will have when they see this flying at them.
The Romulans will take a look at this ship. Double take and then start to laugh hard about the misshapen abomination that is flying toward them. They will then cease laughing once it starts to rip them a new one. Then the Horror will set in as it continues to shrug of their own fire.

[X] Standard Deflector

Just worried about putting a prototype explicitly described as "could be touch-and-go" on what is supposed to be a mass-produced ship.

I can't help but think the choice of a streamlined hull will come back to bite them in the ass. This is a BB more space for weapons or secondaries and tertiaries should've been prioritized.

But we are part of the Federation and Starfleet. Our Mandate is to boldly design what no designer has designed before! That means prototypes in the Pursuit of progress!

Yeah I don't think it was a big mistake, but I get the feeling it might hurt the design a bit more than help.

Being able to Warp fast was judged to be more important than some more internals. Frankly, this thing is already going to be a monster. Non-tactically focused Federation capitals regularly go up against the bleeding edge of the other empires and give a good showing, and this thing is specifically going to be specced for combat. The analysts in the Obsidian Order and the Tal Shiar must be shitting bricks over this project.

Actually, I went back and it looks like Project Sovereign isn't going to be as thick as our last capital ship. Only 25 decks to the Am-badass-ador's 30. Oh well, the decks being longer will probably make up most if not all of that.
Is that saucer to saucer? Or total saucer and engineering?
