ahhh my bad just scrolled through and saw when this was set, so cannonicly about 15 or so years to early....so that just means we can build it (upgraded version) ourselves and sell it without having to get a license
No it isn't created yet. They aren't made until the end of the Clone Wars and it isn't our design to make.
ah i love the Roci and i think that this could actually be a decent ship for us to provide, cheap patrol cutter meant for inter system police or convoy escort and as a picket ship in larger formations. change out the pdc cannons for light laser cannons and ion cannons with the missile system being anything you could load (so proton torpedoes, anti star fighter, anti missile, connor nets, ect) and you'd have a very good cheap ship that we could crank out in numbers.we could build the corvette class and market the military model for anti-pirate, system patrol and anti-fighter duties while a civilian model trades two of the guns and the missile/torpedo launchers for cargo space.
big ass engine, full defense turret coverage, big enough to pack a good bit of cargo even in the miltary model.
also Advent while yes it hasn't been invented yet, and i know how strict you like to be with cannon, this is a quest. if it is offered or allowed in the future i would love for the Neb-B to be a ship we make, why, because it was a effective ship used by a lot of people so we know it would sell. and also remember this is fanfiction we can do anything we want with the story if the OP allows.
My objection with just copying the Neb-B wholesale is that I'd personally prefer to design our ships from the ground up.
i want to do that too and i am sure we are going to just wanted to put a ship design forth we know is popular. also felt that the re-worked version is very cool and functional, also not likely to be made by us immediately or on the first construction turn id imagine, got to get some cheap and effective designs out first before we branch into heavy escort ships id imagine.
It is something that Kuat likely already has in the work. The Class-C frigate is already in use and the Nebulon-B is obviously designed after it. Stealing the design means we get sued and taken out by the literal most powerful shipbuilding corporation in the galaxy they don't need to be right the threat alone will ruin us completely. So no it is not worth it at all.
i didnt say it had to be our first design and we have 13 years or there about to build our own version of a Neb-B, i somehow doubt that Kuat had the specs for the Nebulon B for over almost a decade and a half without putting them into production, especially when the clone wars kicked off. And taking inspiration from other ships for your own is something that is done regularly, as long as you can prove that the inner workings are not copies and that you didn't steal the designs you are good. Find it much more likely that as soon as the clone wars kicked off they took their old Class C design and tried to do a rush re design to modernize and upgrade it and eventually it became an entirely different ship design with everything they changed.
I said they don't have to be right all they need to do is accuse us and that is it. They drag out the court proceedings and they will bankrupt us. That is what they have done in the past the truth does not matter.
I'm not sure anyone in SW has ships with weapons that fire physical projectiles that aren't torpedoes, bombs or missiles.
i mean just from looking at the 2 ships they look nothing alike so im not sure how they could sue us over it and unless Kuat slept on the Neb-b design for more than 15 years and through a intergalactic war i imagine they dont exactly have a leg to stand on when it would come down to the design already being made/ in creation
gatling blasters are a thing (the z-9 used by the clones) but a better set up for it would be four anti-fighter turbolasers (front side mounts and aft Dosal and vental mounts, two ion cannons (mid ship side mounts) and a pair of missile launchers for punching above its weight class (mid ship, dorsal and ventral mounts).
dont think you could fit turbolasers onto the Roci but light laser cannons would work and as i already suggested since the Roci already has missile/torpedo launchers just make it so that they can accept as many different designs as possible so that any design can use them, would make it a lot more favorable with customers than it only being able to use our own missile/torpedo design. other wise its a good cheap design we could pump out in droves for the civilian and military markets.
Laser cannons, maybe quad lasers like on the Falcon. Turbolasers are when you get to talking about naval guns, not fighter deterrents.
