Maybe we can use the Corvie to haule the Truck back?
Would make repairing it a long time action.

Alright I'm gonna be locking in one hour

So you guys have that much time to have a say in what we do next.

Hm... so, what do we want to scavenge for?

My inclination would be to try and go for tech and weapons/armor/ammo. Better gear would make future scavenging runs somewhat safer, and access to tech would help to make us more independent of scavenging, for example by building additional water purifiers, or upgrading the existing one, or by improving our chem lab to produce medicines.

Then again, from what I remember of Fallout canon, radiation's supposed to fall back down to normal levels only two or three days after the bombs fell, so the need for medicine might go down a little, because we don't need to have every survivor remain doped up on Rad X all day.

Food would be the biggest issue, since even if we set up some greenhouse and start planting immediately, even the fastest-growing vegetables around would still take about three weeks to a months until they're ready for harvest, and said harvest will then have to be stored or prepared in a way that'll keep them preserved for consumption.

Far away from any blast sites maybe.

but your neighborhood is gonna maintain above average rad levels for a atleast a couple months.

Most of Detroit is gonna be heavily radioactive for at several years, and direct blast site's could very well remain dangerous for decades or centuries.

Also there were votes for what to scavenge for awhile back, go look at the prep turns.

Well, good luck to Manny; we all know he needs it to recover his car's shiny status.

Alright I've started, I took Saturday off, but it's Sunday now. You all probably shouldn't expect an update until, I don't know, Monday afternoon at the earliest
.
it might be even earlier because sometimes I just get on a roll. But this one is actually giving a me a bit of a struggle, so it might well take until sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday.

So yeah, just giving you all a heads up.

on another note, about this quest in general.

This will never be completely dead, well not until I hit the end of the canonical fallout timeline. (Aka the end of the chronologically latest game) and even then i might have cobbled together enough a world and setting, to not need the support of canonical events to keep going, or a new fallout game might release and give me an extension.

But there will almost undoubtedly be periods where things slow down or go dormant for awhile, or i may get inspiration for another quest/fanfic/whatever and end up putting this one on the backburner, and of course there are always events irl that might slow it down.

But it's not gonna die of anything except a natural end, I promise you all that much.

well barring my own death, but if that's happens it's definitely foul play, because I'm good health and in my twenties, so if i die someone killed me.

if that happens please avenge me. :V

But seriously, this ain't dying permanently unless i do, or the fallout series in general dies.

The West-Tek Building.
AN: Hello!

So, I've been trying to write a long update... the issue is this one just isn't particularly important and I could not bring myself to bolster the word count with pointless filler. So until we get back to either
A. plot.
B. A fight.
or
C. Important Character stuff.

I'm just gonna keep these updates relatively short, capiche?

At any rate, vote, discuss, criticize me, etc.

Have fun.

In the end, you had decided to handle scavenging in shifts, two at time would leave to search the ruins of Detroit, while one would stay to guard the car.

Due to Alessandra's recent… experience, it probably wasn't a very good idea to leave her back at the car. And so, you and she had been the first to leave, with Manny staying behind to guard his precious Corvie.

Turns out this had been a good decision, because Alessandra had quickly recognized the area you were in, and proceeded to lead you to where you were now.

West-Tek Detroit.

Per Alessandra, this was the Great Lakes regional headquarters for the Famous tech company, and all sorts of lab equipment and cutting edge medicine could be found in here.

That definitely sounded useful, so you were willing to go along with it.

"So… you worked here? How'd was that?" You ask Alessandra, whilst preparing to ram the side entrance open.

"It was pretty great, for someone used to working with university grade lab equipment this was a scientific heaven! The bio-scan units were absolutely top notch, and their viral genetic modification vectors were so… elegant. Oh, the things that I could do with some of those… the things I could create…"

Alessandra's voice gains a trance-like quality and her mind is clearly wandering into fantasies of Super immune systems and trees that grew perfect spheres of steak tartare instead of oranges.

All in all, your respect for her increased immensely. How could you disapprove of someone with such passion for their field?

But unfortunately, the loud slamming of you attempting to break down the door snaps her out of it.

The first attempt fails utterly, you getting nothing but a slight ache in your shoulder in the attempt. The second attempt elicits the groaning and shrieking of stressed metal, your morale bolstered you keep going.

On the third push, hinges and locking mechanisms for the janitorial entrance/exit give way, and the door flies open, letting you into the building.

It's a bit of a mess, but not as bad as you had expected.

The paint on the walls is clearly chipped, the walls themselves seemed strained and cracked in many places, various objects, mostly cleaning implements of one sort or another lay scattered across the floor.

Ahead of you is a long hallway at the end of the hallway is an intersection with paths branching to the left and right, presumably used by janitors and staff passing through.

It seems that you're in the maintenance and cleaning supply storage area.

To the right lies the path the "Advanced Weapons Research Division" and the demonstration floor's, the main lobby, and the stairway to offices and "Workshop F1".

To your left lies the "Bio-Medical Science Division PF1." And apparently they were building a testing clinic for a recently developed vaccine, apparently for the New Plague, in that general direction as well.

Alessandra turns to you.

"So Alex, which one first?"

XXXXX
What do?

[] Go Left.

AN: yeah I don't got much to say for this one, sorry. I'll try to make next one a bit meatier. Just vote please?

That new plague is bothering me, we should take a look at that? Could be YOLOing, but what is life without risk?

The new plague is actually a canonical thing in fallout, it was actually a motivation behind the development of something very well known to long time fallout fans...

also all this choice determines is which one you do first, you can still do both.

[X] Go Right.

Hmm, well, weapons? Are we good with plasma?

You are competent with all currently existent forms of energy weaponry and a good deal of kinetic weaponry.

So yes, you can do plasma.

@ninjafish Any half decent military vet would know that you don't ram the door with your shoulder. You plant one feet and firmly kick it with the other, near to the handle.

.....

Word of god, the laws of physics function slightly different in fallout-verse, so that shoulder tackling the door works better.

I swear this is in the fallout bible, really, honest?

totally not an attempt to cover up that I just used movies for that.

But seriously, i'll remember that from this point on, we'll just say Alex was still walking off the head trauma from the car crash and temporarily forgot that, okay?

I thought it was best to use three shells from a shotgun? One at the lock, one each at the hinges.

Well, clearly the best course of action is for a few of our guys to learn how to lockpick. Or bring some other B&E tools such as crowbars, sledgehammers, or the like. Less/no risk of personal injury, and all that.

Maybe Manny's got one of those in his car, and will use it when he goes looting, to much "I can't believe I didn't think of that" facepalming from Alex and/or Alessa?

Alright vote locked.

Your exploring The Advanced weapons division first.

See you all when the update is done.

Let me guess, we find power armor, but it's either A) not as empty as it should be or B) has been irradiated to hell and back?
