...´kay, I simply don't see our military background here, how come we don't even know how to use a laser gun?
Why are we freaking out like it's our first kill?
...I'm lost honestly.

Your not playing as Alexander Tesla, Former combat engineer and Anchorage veteran, right now, he's unconscious due to the car crash.

Your playing as Alessandra the college student who only ever fired a shot gun to kill animals.

and even then that was a couple of years back.

But this is really just a one shot, Alex woke up do to the screaming and sounds of corpses boiling.

AN: Alright, the mods in all their wisdom, have decided that this next bit is not breaking any rules.

Still since it has some rather dark content I feel I need to do this.

WARNING: This next bit contains Implications of nonconsensual sex, drug use, and violence. If you have any trauma associated with such things that you think might be aggravated by reading about them, I advise you to look away or prep yourself mentally, or whatever you feel youi need to do. And if this does set off something in your brain, I sincerely apologize.

Alright, that needed to be said.

So yeah, without further Ado I present the first piece written from a non-Alex Viewpoint. Read, discuss, and all that good stuff.

- snip-

AN: alright, that's it for now, the next bit with choice's and such will be up, within the next 2-3 days, but I got somethings I need to write up for work today, so yeah once Read, Discuss.

Also since this is the first time we've the world from someone other than Alex, tell me what you think.

Really, I need back, it helps me know what I'm doing right, and helps me fix anything I might be doing wrong.
Hmm, a speed-read feels okay so far. Though I would have thought that this was too soon for either ghouls to pop up or raiders to really gain steam.

Possibly ex-gangs or street scums, but there ought to be surviving law enforcements as well, right?

Oh, we're having her now? Will we switch PoVs often? Considering this is a CK2-based.

Well just because we haven't met any one friendly doesn't mean they don't exist.

Oh, we're having her now? Will we switch PoVs often? Considering this is a CK2-based.

Detroits kinda fucked.

The proto-raiders you met happened to be remnants of an illegal chem dealing thing.

And yes there are friendly people within the city, but they are holed up deep in there.

As for POV switches... I probably wont be using them without a decent excuse in story for it. like right now, when your main character was unconscious. (BTW he rolled well and woke up at the end, so this was just a brief interlude from Alessandra depicting some of her thoughts, and showing how bad the world is degenerating already.)

As for ghouls... Quite frankly, lore is really damn inconsistent on how long it takes to ghoulify.

Like when you nuke megaton in Fallout 3, Moira Brown turns into a sane ghoul, but it couldn't have taken more than a day or two for that to happen.

And hancock in fallout 4 fucking took some radioactive drugs, passed out from the high and when he woke up a few hours later he was a ghoul.

on other occasions its portrayed as taking days or weeks of exposure to fully ghoulify, and in some select cases it seems damn near instantaneous.

TLDR ghoulification is inconsistent.

For the canon of this quest ghoulification speed varies based on the amount of radiation exposure, method of exposure, and the genetics of the person involved.

Well, if nothing else, we should be getting the weapons, ammo, and potential armor of the three proto-raiders, here. Possibly the car as well, if it can be fixed, which would be a godsend, since it would mean massively increased cargo-space for further salvaging trips.
Failing, that, we might still be able to get some useful parts and whatnot out of it. Given the cars run on miniature nuclear reactors, IIRC, it's possible we could use them to provide electricity for the settlement, for example.

That said, I think it would be a very good idea to go and Mad Max the hell out of Manny's car next turn. Fix the windshields and/or add armor, ramprow for use against feral ghouls and the like, things like that.

Hmm, depends on Manny, though I doubt that he'd decline, what with today's experience.

Heh, I now am imagining him crying over his Corvie having gotten a punk metal makeover.

Hugs, Crying, and Planned thievery.
AN: I am on a fucking roll.

At any rate this one gives you choices. so vote for those, discuss anything you think needs discussing, Active Discussion makes me happy and gets me extra motivated.

Lot of fluff and feeling and stuff this time... well it makes sense considering last time. You chose a good player character for me to write, I'm not good with people in emotional situations either.

At any rate here you go.

Your name is Alexander Tesla, your head hurts, your nose is broken, and you're pretty sure you were just in a car crash.

Wonderful.

Well you can fix one of those problems easily at least. Reaching up for your nose you feel around trying to figure out where the break is and if its moved anything around. After finding the break you're sure it's mostly straight, well at least something is going right for you.

Well then that made things considerably less complicated.

You jam one of your stim-paks into your arm and depress the plunger. All you have to do now is wait a minute or two for the medicine to get to work.

Ah, the wonders of modern science will they ever cease(?)

Well yeah, the apocalypse has probably put a bit of damper on science come to think of it…

Just one more reason to hate Uncle Sam.

Well now that the broken nose is taken care of, priority number one is seeing if Manny is… oh okay he's breathing, he's fine.

How about Alessandra then? Turning your head back you see that she's not in the car… her shotgun is though, was she actually stupid enough to go waltzing off into this madness without some sort of weapon or some armor, or something to protect herself with?

No never mind, you think you can hear her nearby… is that crying or screaming? Either way that's loud, how the hell did you miss that?

At any rate, it's a sign that you should probably get off your ass and make sure your squad mate isn't getting swarmed by zombies.

And you're already beginning to slip back into military lingo, you're really beginning to hate this city, and you've only been here (And conscious) for like 20 minutes, so that's saying something.

God damn it Tesla pull it together, your… friend? Is quite clearly indicating that she needs assistance, you can get pissed off at the city later.

Leaving the car (you note that your door is already opened) you're thankful for the fact that Alessandra isn't far away at all.

You're not so thankful for the pair of legs that clearly had its upper half violently remove itself, nor for the blood splattered, sobbing wreck that is Alessandra… going by her shirt having clearly been cut open, her grip on your gun, which you noted was set to "Overload," and the distinctly male looking half corpse near her… it wasn't too hard to guess what had happened.

Well, whoever the bastard was, he died exactly the way he should have, painfully. Having your internal organs flash boil and all your fluids vaporize and explode out of your skin will do that to you.

Too bad Alessandra had to see it though, I mean killing a man your first time is hard enough without getting splattered by a fountain of burning gore.

Shit, come to think of it, she's probably pretty messed up mentally right now. But you're not very good with people, you might just make it worse… Then again doing nothing might be the wrong choice as well.

XXX
Do you try to console Alessandra?

[X] Yes

[] No (Morality at 15 or above, choice locked to yes.)

XXX

Well there was only one real answer, you just had to try your best to help her out.

Slowly you walk up and approach her.

"Alessandra? You okay?" no response, she just keeps sobbing.

You kneel down to get a better look at her… she has some burns but they aren't anything too bad thankfully.

Well you figured this just like removing a band aid, you need to get it over with.

So, you take your gun out her hand, and then lightly shake her to get her attention.

"Alessandra, look I don't really get what you're going through entirely, But I'm here to help… just let me know if you need any."

Well at least she's looking at you now.

"A-Alex"

"Yeah, it's me Alessandra, your safe, just-just calm do..." Sweet fuck she's going for the heart!

Panicked remembrances of Chinese stealth troopers armed with shock swords go through your brain…

Wait no, she's just hugging you, and crying into your chest.

You are definitely not the right person for this job.

But unfortunately, you're the only one conscious, and she needs someone to help her out.

You desperately root around your mind for something to do or say that might work in this situation, when you stumble upon a childhood memory, you'd cut yourself up pretty bad when you fell out of a tree and you had been bawling up a storm. Your mother, sweet woman that she was, had just held you, and whispered a bunch of sweet nothings and gibberish noises, like wind going through tree leaves.

You don't really know why that calmed you down back then, but it did.

It was worth a shot.

So, that's what you do, you place one hand on her head and the other on her (Upper) back.

"It's gonna be alright, it's bad, I know, but it gets better. Shhhhh shhhhhhhh"

This is extremely uncomfortable for you, what with the almost half naked crying woman covered in blood and viscera clinging to your chest. But you keep going, and eventually she calms down, the crying stops, her body stops shuddering. Yeah you think she's asleep, right on top of you… whilst shirtless and covered in blood.

This day just keeps getting better and better.

What were you supposed to do now? You didn't want to just shove her off of you for fear of causing some sort of issue for her… but this was not your field of expertise.

You fixed machines for a living, not people!

Thankfully Manny finally joins you in the land of the living.

"Alex!, Alessandra! Did you guys just leave me here?" oh yeah, he'd be looking for you wouldn't he.

"Manny, shut up, just get on the other side of the car!" You whisper as loudly as you can.

Manny comes around the car, still a bit banged up… and is part of his left ear missing?

"Oh, thank god Alex, I thought you guys had just up and…. What in christ's name happened here?"

He looks like he's gonna… yeah, he's vomiting.

"Manny look, I don't fucking know the details, but her shirts destroyed, I found her holding my gun set to over-max, and that guy over there is literally half a man now. I think you can put it together for the most part." You're still whispering, but it's getting a bit more stressed now.

Manny pauses and thinks for a bit, his already pale skin going even paler.

"Jesus fuck! Did he… uh…" he trails off, clearly worried.

"Nah, her pants are fine, she managed to defend herself, it's just a close brush with that sort of thing, along with a killing another human in such an… extravagant manner ain't doing her mind any favors. Look, just help me get her into the back of the car, we need to think this out."

"Yeah, sure. Christ almighty can this day get any worse…"

It takes a bit of finagling but you manage to get the youngest member of your little band of rogues into the back of the thoroughly beaten up Corvega…

"Alright, Manny we've somehow fucking made it to Detroit with all of our limbs intact, and in light of recent event's I say we do what we came here for and get the fuck out as soon as we can."

Your face is stern, your dead serious, you all need to move fast, too many more encounters like what you had on the way here and someone was likely to get badly injured or die.

"I can't say I disagree with you, Boss-man, so uh what's the plan?" Manny replies, he definitely gets just how bad the situation actually is.

"Alright, first off, we should probably wake Alessandra for this next part, I know she's been through a lot, but your windshields gone, your windows are gone, someone could easily reach in and unlock this thing… and if we lose the car then we. are. screwed. Someone has to keep guard, no question about it."

Manny doesn't look happy about it, but in the end, he agrees and shakes Alessandra awake.

"Alessandra? Alessandra wake up! Were here! We need to talk."

Alessandra practically leaps back into the waking world, eyes frantically roaming across the car and she looks like she's about to scream until she registers that it's you and Manny in the car with her. She calms down a bit, her eyes not quite locking on to a single object just yet, and her arms held over her chest.

"Alex… Manny, it's you! Oh thank goodness! I was, I was…"

She seems to struggle to find any suitable words, so you cut her off.

"We know Alessandra… and I'd like to apologize for dragging you out here… this place isn't something I'd wish on my worst enemy, let alone someone I actually like. But we've made it to Detroit proper, and people are still counting on us. We have to get supplies. And we need to discuss how we're going to do this."

Alessandra still looks frantic for a moment, but her eyes harden up, and brighten up… the fear and worry aren't totally gone, but they are dwarfed by the fiery will and stony determination showing through.

She nods her head.

"A-Alright, Let's do this."

And with that, the discussion begins.

How are you going to scavenge?

AN: Yep, that's an update alright. At anyrate, i'll give it a couple of days, then I'll lock it, and then we can Finally get to looting.

Also you rolled pretty damn well in your Charisma roll with Alessandra, she's got a hell of a lot of respect and fondness for you now.

this is pretty fucking funny, Because I personally feel that I'm just barely scraping by when it comes to the quality of the character interaction bits... anyone wanna weigh in on that issue? tell me how I'm doing there?

Anyways, As Always vote, Discuss, Gib Feedback.

Finally, all work and no loot makes Tel a dull boy!

Hm... difficult decision. On one hand, splitting up means potentially locating more loot. On the other hand, it's also a LOT riskier. On the third hand, going in pairs means that if there is good loot located, it's easier to carry a lot of it back. I'd say it's not really worth it at this point. Probably should make sure that at Alessanda's escorted the first two times; being alone, and at the scene of what happened, would probably not do her headspace any wonders.

Then again, she's as tech-savvy as our MC, so depending on the state of the proto-Raider vehicle, it might be worthwhile to try and arrange things so one of the tech-savvy characters is always around to work on it, so we can take it with us when we return. Would mean more loot we can carry, and/or the car itself could provide valuable materials. Its engine alone could probably be very handy for providing our settlement with a small amount of electricity.

@ninjafish
What's the situation at our crash site? For one, are the proto-Raider corpses around along with their gear and whatnot? I'd expect those will be scavenged automatically. What about their car, though? Any chance for it to be salvaged at this point?

Only jonny made it out of that car alive, so if theres anything left, it's in the truck, you can in fact choose to check on it and salvage what you can after you decide on how scavenging is going to be done.

Okay but seriously though I really do need votes.

Come on people, I put a lot of work into these, and it's kinda disheartening to see people not even voting.

I can understand the lack of discussion, not too much has actually happened yet.

but I kinda need votes to keep the quest moving.

Dude, chill. :)
It's not even been two hours, and if you want people to discuss the matter, then it'll take a bit before people start voting, in order to consider their options.

I'd prefer to have a little more information on the crash site since that would help decide what to do, and it should basically be right next to Manny's car (and if not, it should be a matter of a few moments to drive his car next to where their truck's crashed); if we can repair the truck with what's available on-site, then it'd make sense to have either Alex or Alessa there so they can work on that. If some sort of spare parts or tech are needed, having one or both go out scavenging for it would also make sense.

But, well;

The proto-raiders ended up doing considerably worse with their crash than you did, the engine of thier truck or at least parts of it. is probably salveagable, but the chasis is mangled, and the front axle is bent pretty badly.

That car ain't movin again without a lot more resources than what you got with you.

Jonny wouldn't have been conscious if it weren't for the psycho and med-x he was jacked up on.

Well, while I wasn't expecting Alex to roll well, that could happen. We can still lower Alessa's opinion on him with later rolls. :D

About scavenging, I prefer keeping the Corvie close, cause that's our getaway and mule, so better to be ready to bolt or not scavenging than going off without easy way out.

Disappointing, but not too surprising. Would've been nice if it had been salvagable; it would've given us a lot more cargo-space compared to a sedan.

Still, the engine/reactor alone should be fairly handy, and there might be some other parts that'll help keep Manny's car running, or maybe improve it.

Don't lose hope, good enough rolls might get you more cars yet.

Maybe.

if you get really lucky.

Probably not though.

Edit:

Who wants to bet we get some milspec vehicles, or mobile bases.

Who wants to bet we get some milspec vehicles, or mobile bases.

You don't have the fire power (or in the case of mobile bases, authorization codes) to break into a military motorpool and survive.

At your current level of weaponry, armor, and skill, even a crit success would only allow you to escape.

I'm not gonna let the dice fuck my plans up that badly.

Okay i'll throw you a bone here, that's a possibility, anything that a (Nominally) civilian organization could have has a chance of popping up when it comes to cars.

Due to the characters you brought along you do have possible access to military grade weapons, advanced robotics and and high grade lab equipment if you roll well enough,

Now stop fishing through the loot tables.

You'll get what the dice gods will.

No more and no less.

Also please vote.

it's been three hours, seriously vote please.
