Squirrel Sect 1.0.1 [Stone Age] [Riot Quest] [Squirrels Cultivating]

Edit: The failure was expected, but boy that nine is painful.
Sounds like we might all be at +2 anyway.
Discord: "but abyssius said that fortune is still in effect so you just need to roll an 8."

[X] Cultivate: (Cost 1 Qi Acorn and requires an omake. Omake still grants reroll.)

The tall Red Squirrel shook for a while, once the battle was done. His emotions jumped between sad, furious, relieved, and a bone-deep weary numbness. He thought for a while, ever so slowly, but eventually curled carefully into himself, found a nook, and managed to get some sleep.

The next day, he retraced his steps. Here, he had defended the Grow Stone and seen the world break Squirrels triumphant THE POWERS CHANGE THE RULES- he had defended the Grow Stone, yes.

Here, he had been peripherally involved in killing the first slain Owl.

Here, he had dodged around the trees while peppering them with arrows.

Here, the Captain had saved him.

Here, he had tucked himself deep into a crevice in the trees, and shot out, until the Owls threw things at him.

And here, before (or in the beginning of?) the battle, he had been Awakened.

Right. He'd been a normal Squirrel once.

...There were so many of them. So many that could not think coherently, or talk intelligently to each other...

"Then it's my job to teach you all. To awaken you all. To help you transcend your limits and ascend to something more."

With his goal decided, and his heart now (at least somewhat) recovered from the difficult days, the tall Red Squirrel proceeded to find a good spot, sit down, and Cultivate.

The best way to learn is to teach - but the best way to teach is to learn. -Scribble

Not my favorite work, but I learned things making this, so:

He still felt a little nauseous.

He had fully expected it to drag on for much longer, for treasures to be lost, for the owls to only be repelled. Only for the tides to suddenly shift with owls be slaughtered en masse.

Frankly he's not sure how it happened, surely the owls could have just flown away? He felt there where greater things at play there, made evident by that horrid twisting that happened afterwards.

He took his thoughts elsewhere to avoid puking again.

Said thoughts quickly settling on the carcass infront of him. It was of the weaker of the two cultivators, the rest of the squirrels had decided that he should claim whatever energy was inside of it. It made sense, the acorns had energy in them, you got that energy by eating them. It would surely work for these aswell, it was presumably what the owl's where trying to do to them. Only for it to end up the other way around. And having your guard captain not be a cultivator is basically asking for trouble.

What he was unsure about was the volume, the owl was atleast three times his size, and while he quite enjoyed the irony wasn't sure he has the apitite for it all, even without the nausea. Then again he probably didn't have to eat it all in one sitting, things felt alot slower now anyway.

He tentatively ripped off a chunk of of meat, thinking he better get to it before the bugs do, lest they start cultivating.

He was full, in more ways then one. And he knew what the best thing to do while waiting for to digest, finally finish that hat. His attention had been (for good reason) pulled away from it for too long. Possible inefficiently be damned, he would make a hat and nobody could stop him!

Sure, the other cultivators typically mediated after eating their energized food, but frankly he could imagine nothing more meditative then finally working on some hats.

Foolish Leaf had survived the battle, with some difficulty. No honor or glory was achieved as the foolish squirrel thought they would. Was this it? Would Foolish Leaf be resigned to mediocrity for the rest of their life?

Well, the sect did need shelters... No!

No this squirrel said.

It was time. Time to follow the path so many other squirrels did.

It was foolish, yes, but it was time for this foolish squirrel to climb the great acorn tree whose top could not even be comprehended.

Edit: The failure was expected, but boy that nine is painful.

Reroll was not needed due to Blessed Fortune, so with the 9 you breakthrough. I'll allow you to give your reroll to someone else.

EDIT: RIP those rolls. You got any book-keeping you want done @Abyssius so I can get another? I got nothing to do today.
The Excel sheet could be used to keep tracking, since I think the other guy in charge is not keeping it updated. You can also do a post and I'll threadmark it.
So...what about the bonuses that were collected before the battle and that the owls and squirrels fought over during the battle?
You are right, I added the option to take Qi from the Fulgurite and Study the Growth stone.

Fire unlocked Cooking Mastery. Probably going to add a project for improving spears by tempering the tip in fire.

[X] Bone Mastery [0/50]
Flintfur's head pounded as he looked at the owl bodies being dissected, their bones shining white even covered in gore.
There was much to gleam from them, much to use them for. Already he had ideas of a great banner showing the might of the squirrel sect.
But first he had to study the bones, see how they cracked and how they could be worked.
@Guest99 take a reroll

would you mind feeding your extra reroll to either me or SteelWriter? I got terrible rolls, and SteelWriter77 is one 10 off of an Inspiration.

Hmm... *Checks other people's actions.*

[X] Cultivate

Sunny-Spotted was tired, her fur completly matted covered in blood and soot from fight. Her dear leaf-hat lost somewhere between the second hour of the Baleful Moon. This squirrel couldnt stand any longer and neither could she rest properly, nerves still sharp and alert from narrowly escaping the talons of Death.

So Sunny-Spotted sat in a clean branch, one of the highest in tree, observing the ground below now free from that dreadful red light and calmly breathed just like she had the first day of her awakening.

@Ghost in the sun what Cultivation roll is this? If it's you're first breakthrough you can take my re-roll.

The rodent questions this, "I never knew bars could talk."
"It's actually spelled b-e-ar." the bar replied, swallowing the squirrel whole.

Don't give him ideas. Cultivator bears would be much worse than owls (probably).

[X] Platform: [0/25] (Costs 50 wood) Required for certain other buildings

Coming into true awareness in the midst of the Blood Moon, the Squirrel realized the fragility of life. Spears built for a Squirrel are worse in every way than an Owl's talons. Bows wielded with Squirrel strength are as splinters in the feathers of an Owl. Cultivators, the greatest way a Squirrel may even the playing field, are easy pickings for Owls. Only through preparation would we be able to survive in the long term.

This squirrel sits alone in a spacious nook, staring out into the night sky. Scattered within are herbs and seeds, partially sorted and forgotten in the moment. The stars gleam overhead, luminous pinpricks dotting an inky expanse. A breeze rustles through the canopy. The squirrel shivers, then returns to their task.

edit: an omake. I'll pass the reroll to @Robinton, and hope for some good luck!
