Ok this is 3 months late but.....
*sometimes it's used seriously as a way to describe how cool and badass the character is like say Robocop or whatever and sometimes it's used ironically to describe "wacky and comedic cartoony character" "kid detective" "cutesy robot" etc etc.
It's actually just a shitty "pun" based off the clichéd movie trailer phrase "A whole new breed of hero"* because Sonic is speedy and non-human.

Reddit is stealing content from 4chan again. A 4chan fix for the Sonic design ended up on the front page of r/all.
On one hand this would be a horrible fursona. On the other hand is looks more like a horrible fursona then it looks like a sonic OC. I don't know how to feel about this.

Sonic's original design is really 90s, he's literally wearing Micheal Jackson's shoes. The only reason he didn't rap was because that's what Knuckles did

It says a lot that this comes across as a complaint, when for the games the complaint is often "I don't care about all of Sonic's stupid friends". People would rather have a movie with all of Sonic's stupid friends than a movie like the one described here.
