The Party Part 6: To Save One's Life
You froze, thinking of the words to say to the beast that was now holding your brother hostage. For a moment, the still silent was all that was around you, nothing moved, not even the bamboo.
You then took a deep breath, willing to take the risk. "Kagami… let your mother see you."
Kagami froze, but he did what you asked, his shadowy form solidifying as he entered, allowing your mothers beast to see him without any obstruction.
You stood by him, but tucked into the shadows… shadow.
Your mothers beast stood there, but Kagami was the one who spoke. "Hello, mother." He stated.
The beast just started, unable to comprehend what was happening here. "Baby." She whispered.
The bamboo forest seemed to drop, and only the pool of water remained, allowing the light to shine, and allow Kagami to walk freely. "Yes mother… It's me." He stated, walking forward. With a twitch of his hand, he ordered you to follow him.
You did, shadowing his movements, following him close behind.
Kagami accepted his mother's hand on his shoulder and did not look away from her as she gazed into his eyes. "Baby." The whisper was quiet enough for you to barely hear it.
"We want to talk." Kagami stated as he stepped back. "About your child."
You recognized the pained look in the beast's eyes. She was terrified… no traumatized of what was happening to her again.
You could only imagine the pain she felt the first time her child was taken away from her. But you steeled yourself but stayed behind Kagami.
"You think I will let you-" the beast started to shout, but you stepped forward, fearless of the beast. "Who is this parasite in front of me?"
"My friend… my partner." Kagami said. "We do not wish to fight you… we only wish to save a life. You need to learn to let go."
"You need to learn how to let go of your pain or it will never leave you." You said. For a moment, you felt the gentle tug of Aka in your mind and it gave you an idea.
"In another life, I learned one thing. 'The hardest thing in life to do is let go.'" You stated. Kagami noticed the mention of Aka and he understood what to say.
"Now mother can argue with you all she wants on the specifics of what is real here but you know one thing, Letting go sucks...for everyone. Letting go of something you love is painful and most people can't let go." Kagami stated.
The beast stopped, and just stared, a blank face of confusion adorned her face. Her attention was given fully.
Kagami continued. "But mother and baby are mortal too, and that means one way or another, bonded to a human or not that someday they'll die. It's not a threat,it's just how it is. Denial doesn't make it any less true."
The beast looked at the child in her arms, and then the child in the pool, squirming around.
Kagami did not stop however to let you speak, he was not done yet. "So no matter what happens both mother and baby will live in one way or another. And then they'll die. What matters is what's done with that life. Should the baby just stay next to his mother and never grow up, for however long that lasts? Ultimately it will end, regardless."
He then stepped aside, a tiny shadow now gently tugged you forward. And you knew exactly what to say. " The alternative, let him bond with my brother. Let him grow and truly experience things and life in the world and make it what he will, to affect the people around him, to have friends, goals, and dreams he can fulfill and put his mark on the world."
You paused, letting the words soak in before delivering the one line you knew she would have to react to. "Perhaps even have children of his own someday."
The tears started to flow down the beasts eyes, red tears like lava and water.
"Life is sometimes sad and sometimes hurts. There are partings and separation. But there's also happiness, interesting things to see and do, good things to eat, companionship, and fulfillment. And there are also reunions. This right here isn't goodbye." Kagami stepped forward.
"You'd be letting him go so he can do all those things, but you will see him again, that's a promise. In the meantime he won't be alone, my brother will be his by his side just as Kagami and myself are friends who work together." You stated.
"Also, the baby is Kagami's sibling too, which makes the baby my sibling too in a way. So we'll both look after both of them. I give our word on that too."
There was a pause from the beast.

"Okay." The beast stated, slowly handing over the child to Kagami.
Kagami slowly took the baby out of her hands and walked over to the pool where your brother slept and set the beast down next to him.
They both cuddled together, your brother grabbing the beast's hand instinctively.
"We did it." Kagami whispered.
"Yeah… we did."
The world went white.

Would you like a time skip? (This will push you forward two years, and your skills will develop without your influence to a proper graduating Genin two weeks before graduation with the rest of the crusaders, where you will be granted another memory from Aka. However, if you take this, special events will be missed out on.):
[]Yes: It's time to become a genin!
