I'm posting the finale to the Battle and the final vote of this thread in that time before the hiatus is going to be officially on.

I received a burst of inspiration form a dream.

Battle of Konoha Finale: Tomorrow When the War Begins.

    Ren met you near the park near the gate. He looked packed up, ready to go on a mission. His headband was in his hands, like he was about to get ready.

    Ren was wearing his usual gear, a white shirt, black pants and a vest with the Uchiha Clan symbol in the front over his heart. The extra winter jacket that Nanako gave him for his birthday was wrapped around his waist.

    "Ayako." He said your name with energy, though it was pretty down. You should have expected that. Everyone was a bit down since the battle.

    A Lot of wounded… a few deaths from the rats that didn't get a chance to get to the hospital.

    But the Village survived. All your friends were alive and healthy, and a few kicked a lot of ass.

    "Yes?" You stated, casting the genjutsu on him so you could speak. "What's wrong Ren?"

    Ren's face faltered, and he started to the ground. "Ayako." He then looked up, and you saw his Sharingan was glowing. Though they looked a little different. At least you thought they looked different. "I need to talk to you alone." His eyes than widened. "Tsukuyomi!"

    Your body lurched, and Kagami Screamed in agony. "AHHHHH!"

    You fell backward to the ground, but was caught by Ren. "I'm sorry about that." Kagami's screams subsided, as Kagami was soon… locked deep in your subconscious.

    "What the hell." You felt strange… like you were all powerful… but also completely ensnared by a genjutsu. Ren's genjutsu. "What did you do?"

    "I used a gift…" He stated. "From Madara Uchiha." He said, his voice sounding dead.

    "WHAT!" You shouted, barely noticing that you had a voice here. "Madara is alive?"

    "Yes," Ren replied though he was clearly pained by saying that. "He captured me during my mission, and he took my eyes and put someone else's in… I don't know how he did it, but he did it."

    "But why would he do that? And if Madara took you prisoner than why are you here in the village?" You asked.

    "He gave me a choice," Ren stated. "I could go back to the village that Hashirama made, to be a loyal nin to his friend's dream, but accomplish nothing… or come with him and build something that will last forever."

    "That doesn't seem like a choice." You replied.

    "But it is a choice. There's a traitor among the village, one that not even the Hokage or Danzo knows about, who has enough pull in the village to hamper this war effort to the point where the village might not be able to win." Ren paused. "He can destroy him in a day if I left."

    And if he didn't the traitor would keep working to destroy the village.

    "Then why are you talking to me, instead of the Hokage?" You asked.

    "Because the Hokage would try to stop me," Ren stated. "Don't tell me he won't."

    He was right. Hiruzen would never allow Ren to leave the village, not willingly.

    "What makes you think I won't stop you?" You asked.

    "Because I know you well enough that you'll only talk me out of this choice, instead of trying to force me to stay." Ren then began to laugh. "Because we're crusaders and that's what we do."

    You frowned and shook your head. "I hate you." It wasn't true, but the feelings you were feeling was a feeling you could not stop feeling.

    []Talk about Loyalty to his home: He has a home to worry about, a family that loves him. Why would he throw that away?
    []Bonds of Crusaders: You are Crusaders. You'll face the world down together.
    []To Find the Traitor: You are going to need to find that Traitor, and you need to do it together.
    []Write In (In case you feel like you can write a really good speech)

    If you Say no, What do you say:
    []Fight him: This place is a genjutsu… maybe you can use that to your advantage… but without Kagami, trying to use your powers might kill you.
    []Say goodbye: "Well… goodbye, Ren… I hope we will meet again."
    []Rally the Crusaders: They deserve to say goodbye too.
    []Write in (If you want maximum feels)

    AN: And here it is. The hiatus now begins officially.

    I'm still not anti-Madara. Madara can have the whole damn world as long as he doesn't immediately lobotomize it. But he is making a mistake taking Ren. He could have the whole of the Village, and with it the linchpin of so much else, if he played a slightly different game.

    I wouldn't fight Ren even if we had our better half right here with us: It is by virtue that this is where our friends are that we are loyal and for no other reason.... and I'm more worried that trying to use genjutsu here would kill him than it would kill us. If the day comes when we must fight him, we will be fighting him for his own sake and no other. And I refuse to feel betrayal at this.

    Things will fall apart should he leave though. He is the final reconciliation with the Uchiha and, by one day carrying Hashirama's mantle, effectively set to be the first proper holder of the equivalent of the Mandate of Heaven since the Sage. Yes, the whole game of thrones that all shinobi play is a ruinous one, but it is an enemy that can still die.

    Yeah about that... Madara is playing a game no one knows about (Except me of course:p) so there is the old problem of us wondering what the hell is going on.

    However, since he still respects Hashirama's dream here... something tells me he's got some kind of plan in store that might actually make Hashirama's dream a reality.

    Or cause the world to burn in fire... because this is Madara we're talking about.

    Well, at least he's somewhat explaining the reasons for his running away from the village to live with an old man who has weird fascination with young Uchiha boys... unlike Sasuke.

    But at least he's running away to a relative, instead of a creepy scientist who wants to use his body like a sock puppet.:V

    This is Madara we're talking about, I'm not going to put anything past him.

    His original plan was to gather fox demons in order to awaken the moon. Let that sink in for a minute.

    Oh well, its not like he knows that there are people who are living on the moon, wants to bring them down onto the planet in an invasion and force the shinobi world to unite so that Hashirama's dream of a peaceful world will finally be realized... now that they fight against aliens rather than each other.:V

    It's like they compete with each other in whose plan is the most batshit insane and devoid of anything resembling common sense.
    Naruto Shippuden was a mistake.

    @Magoose what's the village's sentiment on Madara? And was tobirama senju Danzo's jonin sensei in this AU? And how much of a faux pas is it to refer to Ren as the Yondaime, or would it be a sign of respect? I'd say it's reasonable to do, but I do get some strange ideas in my head sometimes.

    I refuse to treat Madara as anything other than the grumpy old man that needs to be brought home to be with his family rather than try and go out in a blaze of glory or whatever he wants. Maybe we can pull a "blame Danzo Tobirama" on him to trick him into coming home.

    He's viewed with fear, respect and a little bit of jealousy by many of the Senju clan because he was the only person to be Hashirama's equal, both in politics and in battle.

    But if he showed up, everyone would probably try to kill him/lock him up for a trial for crimes against the village... even though technically it was a legal duel between him and Hashirama.

    Yes he was. Though as you can tell, the distrust of the Uchiha is not nearly as relevant as it was in canon. Mostly due to Ren's actions.

    Calling Ren the Yondime would technically be okay in terms of respect, but with Sakumo close behind in the Hokage race, it might not be a good idea until after Hiruzen makes it official that Ren is in fact, the heir to the Hokage.

    After all, he's only the "most likely successor" to the Hat at the moment.

    but it won't work. Hashirama is the only one with strong enough Talk No Jutsu to talk Madara down.

    And Jiraiya isn't there yet. (Though give him a year or two and then he might be able to.):V

    We should know IC if Sakumo actually wants the Hat though, and what I've seen of him in the quest doesn't make it seem like he does. A lot could have changed over the timeskip, but the Crusaders all saw Ren as the future Hokage, so I wouldn't expect him to develop the desire to wear the hat.

    ...so what you're saying is we just need to make our own forbidden technique, power it with a metric fuckton of chakra to allow for supreme bullshit, and add a dash of luck?

    I give you, "Forbidden Formation: Binding of the Pure, Vision of the Departed, Wisdom of the Grave"

    Which combine to form, "Forbidden Technique: Talk no Jutsu!"*

    I like the second name better, but it implies we're doing the talking instead of breaking reality so that we can have Hashirama talk to Madara :D

    *Yes I know adding Jutsu make the "Forbidden Technique" bit a touch redundant, and yes the exclamation point is entirely necessary.
