Loot means there is a good chance of looters, nation backed or not. I would rather not risk the possibility of running into ninja who are picking over a battlefield.

I know... I wanted to go all metro on you all and make the tunnels start showing you strange voodoo shit, and have the tunnelmen be monsters from centuries underground... But then Jiraiya happened to roll bullshit rolls and my descriptions to describe the tunnels got lost in a file error.

Yeah, I'd rather not tempt fate and run into Hanzo. Let's also not return to the location of a battle that any surrounding ninja will be drawn to in order to investigate.

Edit: Also... one problem I have with the interlude or whatnot before this latest chapter... what ninja village, in their right mind, would allow another village to root around in one of their strongest ninja's heads? It's such a blatant security risk, and then there's also the question of why Konoha would do such a thing for someone who attempted to assassinate one of their Hokage (unless they accepted in order to steal knowledge of Taki and their techniques, and possibly leave a sleeper agent in their midst. Are we going to see Jiongu using Konoha nin?)

...I could actually see someone like Danzo using the Jiongu just to extend his life.

yeah, we'd be better off dealing with bandits then other ninja. Also surprised nobody in the group didn't just use genjutsu to get past the guards without them noticing.

Might run into Rain nin, but if the kids do reach the border...

Hanzo is probably less likely to screw us than Grass*, plus the boarder of Rain and Fire gives is a +100 to our rolls if we're being chased


*Admittedly, we also loose our ability to resist, but we never had good odds of that to begin with
 
Grass...hmm. On the one hand, they're noted for being diplomatically savvy so they would know exactly what a white elephant we are. On the other, they're noted for technique theft.

Depends on how desperate they are for diplomatic handouts from the major powers.
