Possibly without an officer to direct them they just moved in scattered bunches, getting picked off like a Jurassic Park movie.[X] Information-Gathering
Man, I remember losing almost all of the men I'd send out using the command to transfer troops and resources from one city to another without having an Officer babysit them moving one city/month at a time. When they ate my 30,000 man reinforcement order I could only conclude, goddamn, those are some hardcore bandits.
I'm more interested in hopefully hearing about the local administrators. If we're lucky we might hear about a honest person whose trying to do his best and had been exiled to some unimportant city position. The rebellion never really dies in the far northwest in Wu Wei (Xi Liang). So it would be great if we could leave someone there after we mop up everything. Historically Ma Teng takes over that region and he's neutral during the coalition era but ends up backing the Dong Zhuo faction after Dong Zhuo is killed. We are officially in semi-dangerous territory. It's probably not serious enough that an ambush on the way to Shangbang is likely, but it's definitely within the realms of possibility, though I doubt a force large enough to threaten 50,000 soldiers could have slipped this far in without being noticed and commented on.
Do you know of any famous figures in the are around this time? Perhaps we can try and recruit them.I'm more interested in hopefully hearing about the local administrators. Not really, I'd be fine with non-historical Empireplayer-made characters to be honest. If we're going down the route of a 4th factions there's no reason why we shouldn't have an original spin on things. I'll also be sad if we're reduced to pouching named characters there's no reason why we can't find another original character like Li Jian.Do you know of any famous figures in the are around this time? Huh so he is. His stats are 82-80-51-59-89. Not the greatest politics for a potential governor of Xiliang but since it's a border region it's probably acceptable to put a more militaristic individual in charge. It's be nice if we can find him while he's still a low-ranked foot soldier or lieutenant that way we can slowly cultivate him as a loyal subordinate.I think since we're going more by the novel than actual history, he's going to be more closely aligned with the Guandong Army, take part in the Girdle Decree against Cao Cao, etc.

I think that if we are forming our own faction then we should use alreeady established characters instead of using new OC's. As a rule I prefer quests that use the already existing characters instead of creating new ones. Not really, I'd be fine with non-historical Empireplayer-made characters to be honest. I'm curious if there is anything that we can do to honour Huangfu Song and actually show that we're carrying on his legacy.
An example would be changing Li to Huangfu and carrying on his family name and stuff, but I don't know if we can actually do that, plus the Eunuch's and co. are still around so that'd be a bad move to pull currently unless we were openly against them.. plus it might annoy/upset our father and family.. Then again our family line doesn't end with us since we have a brother so...
About the eunuchs what about taking a page from those statues of people that screwed over Yue Fei and have statues of the twelve attendants kneeling before Huangfu Song, Lu Zhi and Zhu Jun?Erect a memorial somewhere, cry and wail at his funeral, look for any relatives he might have (aged mother, young nephew, etc.) and take care of them, slaughter every eunuch in Luoyang and offer their heads as sacrifices to his grave (yes that's a thing here), take control of the capital and force the emperor to posthumously pardon him of all crimes, restore his rank and maybe make him a Marquis or something, etc...
He does have a nephew Huangfu Li, the guy must have had the worst luck in China because he ended up with the job of trying to convince Dong Zhuo's subordinates not to be dicks to the Emperor. He failed and got exiled to some backwater frontier province by the Emperor to keep them from killing him for the rest of the Three Kingdoms period.
So... I did some more searching and Huangfu Song's nephew is pretty ballsy:
Ballsy indeed he would make a good assistant who would tell the hard truths.So... I did some more searching and Huangfu Song's nephew is pretty ballsy:
But Huangfu Li would not be satisfied with failure. As he went out of the camp, he cried loudly, "Li Jue will not obey the Emperor's command. He will kill his prince to set up himself!"
Counselor Hu Miao tried to shut Huangfu Li's mouth, saying, "Do not utter such words. You will only bring hurt upon yourself!"
But Huangfu Li shrieked at him also, saying, "You also are an officer of state, and yet you even back up the rebel. When the prince is put to shame, the minister dies. That is our code. If it be my lot to suffer death at the hands of Li Jue, so be it!"
And Huangfu Li maintained a torrent of abuse. The Emperor heard of the incident, called in Huangfu Li and sent him away to his own country Xiliang.
Now more than half of Li Jue's troops were from Xiliang, and he had also the assistance of the Qiangs, the northern tribespeople beyond the border. When Huangfu Li spread that Li Jue was a rebel and so were those who helped him, and that there would be a day of heavy reckoning, those stories disturbed the soldiers.
