[X] March on Chang An.
@EmpirePlayer By the way, please correct me if I'm wrong but when you say we have to meet up with the Shang Beng, are you talking about Shang Bang, south of the city of Tian Shui?
Also guys...
Supplies: 20.0 (0.6 Per Week, 12 Supplies arrive every two weeks if the unit is not cut off/surrounded/sieged)
And our troop cap is 80,000 (0.8 per week). That means at most we're going to be using up 1.6 supplies per two weeks. I'm not sure how many civilians are living in Shang Bang but assuming it isn't too large we should have a nice surplus, especially if we work hard and make sure not to get ourselves cut off/surrounded/sieged... Seriously that's a ton of supplies. We probably should use the extra supplies to help feed the surrounding people and get a reputation with the Liang populace.
Not sure whether I'm thinking too hard about this:
The Eunuch smiles. "Good, Good!" Now, I will assign your positions:
Do you think the Eunuchs are purposely giving us a position with a large amount of weekly supplies but strangely enough, no cash credit in hopes that we'll be tempted to take a large amount of the supplies back with us to Hu Lao Gate? I mean we'd probably get away with taking back 20-30 since we marched out with about 20 supply points but it's clearly embezzlement if we march back with an extra 50 or so forth... Or maybe they're giving us a cushy supply line because they think we've been intimidated by Guangfu Song's death and are giving them a subtle peace offering?
I mean with how subtle Ancient China was Li Jian can't outright say, "Eunuchs, you've won, please don't hurt me." But going to a frontier province next season immediately after the death of his mentor, rather then rail about the eunuchs and so forth and so on might be interpreted as Li Jian saying, "I don't want any trouble, as you can see I'm personally retiring myself from the vicinity of Luoyang."
As a result, the incredibly cushy supply line might be the Eunuchs' way of saying, "Good boy, we know how much trouble you had in Hu Lao so we'll now make it so you never have to worry about supplies ever again. Feel free to sell the extra to raise cash for whatever you want to do. Also we're increasing your troop limit to 80,000 rather then capping you at 50,000 in hopes of you dying."
If this is what happened... it's a bit hilarious. But when you think about it they really had no incentive otherwise to raise our troop limit. They could have just waved their hand and said, "the slayer of the Zhangs can surely defeat a rebel force smaller than the Yellow Turbans with his 50,000."
Tianshui that's where Li Guang who was called the flying general by the Xiongnu was born. Li Jian has the same family name as him right? Would be nice to be compared to him except we don't have his bad sense of direction.@EmpirePlayer By the way, please correct me if I'm wrong but when you say we have to meet up with the Shang Beng, are you talking about Shang Bang, south of the city of Tian Shui?
Perhaps but that's still a hell of a lot of supplies. Not only that but even if we have to cut some of our men loose and return to Hu Lao Gate. If we settle 30,000 fanatical soldiers with at least 60-120 thousand members in their immediate family, and leave them our extra supply points in Liang Province (Jin Cheng or Bao Han) we'd have a nice base to rely on when we come back. Honestly if we want to avoid being accused of embezzling supplies and leave our extra supply points with what is essentially 3 units of soldiers. We'll probably come back and find most of them rather prosperous landowning peasants. If it takes 2 supply points to feed a unit troop for the year. Even if we only leave behind 18 supply points, we're giving our retired Liang Province soldiers about 3 years worth of food. When everything starts falling apart and food prices skyrocket they'll probably be building tiny shrines to General Li Jian, the only man to ever retire his soldiers and put a retirement plan in place that didn't involve them being forced to become bandits. And if we put them in Jin Cheng or Bao Han, they'll be far away enough from Chang An, Dong Zhuo's base of power that he probably won't take the time to attack 30,000 veterans and delay his plans in Luo Yang.To be fair, our army of 80,000 if/when we make it is too large to be maintained at Hu Lao Gate. It'd cost too much to supply them, even with cushy deals. We'd be all but forced to cut some of them loose at the end of the campaign if we win, and if we lose it wouldn't matter either way.
What if we advance with some other army like Sun Jian's?I can't help but feel that advancing before gathering information will bite us...
When's Sun Jian setting out? Cooperating with him might be worthwhile.

That's the one I was aiming for, since it's also Bruce Lee's surname.Actually, that reminds me, which "Li" are we? Because there are several Chinese family names which are Romanized as "Li." The most common is "李," which means "plum" and is the same as Li Guang's (which would mean we're related to him, albeit probably distantly, though in ancient China you're still "related" no matter how many generations lie between you so long as you've still got the surname. In theory). That particular surname would also mean we're descended from Lao Tzu (a.k.a. Li Er), the founder of Taoism (he is claimed to be the founder of that particular surname, and so anyone with it is descended from him). Oh, and the Tang Emperors 400+ years from now will also have that surname, unless we butterfly that away somehow.

Sweet then the title of flying general will soon be ours. That's the one I was aiming for, since it's also Bruce Lee's surname.
Yes, Li Jian was originally meant to be a Bruce Lee rip off.
Then, unless the other army already has relevant info and shares...
I was wondering why nobody commented on the fact.*looks at character page*
... Bruce Lee's Chinese screenname was Li Xiaolong. Holy sh*t how did I not notice it!?
Seeing how Sun Jian's still gathering his troops it's a moot issue. He will be a good relief force since he's guaranteed to bring a retinue of veteran troops. Then, unless the other army already has relevant info and shares...
We're in the same situation, but with more troops, making it easier to deal with most potential issues, but making others worse.
I noticed it but I thought it was obvious to recognize.
How safe is the route? Any possibility of an ambush? The Luo Yang-Chang An-Shang Beng Route takes 14 Days. It is the most used route when one travels there.
