Ring-Maker [Worm/Lord of the Rings Alt-Power] [Complete]

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Hm. I wonder if she is glowing. Or, given the Maia are angelic beings in LOTR and we see that Gandalf glowed at the height of his powers several times. Galadriel, as a powerful Elf Sorceress and aided by a Ring of Power, glowed as if she was submerged and lit from within by her inner power during the confrontation with Sauron atop Dol Goldur.

I would not be surprised at all if what Shutdown is exclaiming about at the very end there is her starting to glow from within. The whole burning eye sockets and aura of light and such.

So, I feel kind of justified for moving the majority of my comments from SB to here now. That thread got locked pretty damn fast.

You know Lithos, I have to commend your self control. You're only teasing us over all these mysteries a little bit. I, personally, would be mercilessly cackling and being vague repeatedly.

Now, if varying degrees of intentional vagueness on the OP's part isn't a tradition of SV I don't know what is.

I know, I know, no one has that kind of restraint to resist. But I'm commending him comparatively. Not really answering anything, not even saying much, but less that ten letters was all it took to send SB in a spiel about somethin called a Mairon. Suffice to say, it's glorious and excitedly frustrating to behold.

True that. Some are worse about it than others. Then again some just go into 3k word explanations for every little detail and stay frustratingly silent about the actually important stuff. Not that I'm pointing fingers or anything.

Got an idea for punishing Heartbreaker.
First, turn him into an All-Loving Hero.
Second, mess with his power to force everyone in his range to hate him with every fiber of their existence.
Third, enjoy his unending misery.

I knew you could do better. And don't worry about the people on SB, if they are that emotionally involved, it means they like it. It's just that some people can't express stuff, and should be kept away from keyboard while emotionally compromised :)

I like both this version and the previous one. This one is a little better, but I didn't have any problems with the last one.
I just want MOAR, always. :)

To truly punish Heartbreaker, Taylor is going to have to channel some serious power. Because it will take some juice to throw Heartbreaker beyond the Walls of Night into the Void where he will be alone and unable to use his power on anyone.

Anyway, I think the interesting question, that doesn't seem explored here is what sort of power-up will Taylor get out of her second trigger. The observed effect seem to indicate her eyes glowing red, or possibly doing Sauron impression, and given the bits about spiders in her veins and locker turning brimstone, it seems to indicate that the guy is indeed involved.

But you know, outside of creating the one ring, and some necromancy (which I don't think has been actually defined more closely in the books) what sort of abilities did Sauron actually posses. LOTR magic was always all sorts of vague without clearly defined limitations. And last time I read Silmarilion was ages ago, but I don't remember his abilities explored much.

What do you guys think?

Walls of Night? I'm not sure what that is. Unless you meant the Door of Night. Where Heartbreaker, I think, wouldn't be alone. *evil giggle* But he would wish he was, I'm sure. I like this plan!

Telepathy/mind-control/whateveryouwanttocallit on a crazy scale.

Walls or Door of Night, it's been awhile since I've read my copy of the Silmarillion and the Books of Lost Tales so I'm going off memory. Plus they're in storage and probably under a bunch of plastic bins full of books that I have no intention of unpacking until I have a house again. :)

When I try to think of Sauron's abilities in Silmarillion... shapeshifting at least?

But mostly he is memorable for getting his butt whooped by Luthien.
