Renegade Chapter Master Quest Redux (WH40k Quest)

Storm Avengers Space Marine Chapter

Storm Avengers

Founding Chapter: Ultramarines
Founding: M32/Fourth Founding
Chapter Master: Torvald Thunderson
Homeworld: Midgardia (Current), Ragnarok (Former)
Fortress-Monastery: Aula Fortis (Current), Aula Occisi (Former)
Speciality: Combined Arms, Naval Warfare & Boarding Actions.
Colours: Red and white with a golden trim.
Symbol: Crossed golden lightning bolts behind a red lambda 'A'.
Battlecry: "We are the Avenging Storm!"

If both ships are the same class they could just rewrite the ident codes to and name on the hull to the Invincible Reason, who the heck is gonna question the Dark Angels on their very much known and secretive ways. Not like most people would tell the difference anyway.

Wait in the near impossible event that we take the rock we could feasibly find and early awaken the lion.

it would likely not be too good but it would be funny to have a primarch in quest.

The Dark Angels would know and they would care.

[X] Plan: To Survive

You know any tau who join us are gonna get their first taste of mass astartes combat and general combat with the Imperium. It's gonna really make them rethink their plan's on the imperium again.
It's gonna be glorious to see their wide eyed minds be tempered with the fury and blood of the unforgiven

And this is gonna our first test as the triumvirate in fighting against a substantial Imperial force. And it's a damned first founding chapter.

Do we know that it's just the DAs, and not them plus any and all DA successor chapters that they can round up?
Well the prophecy says that it's all green. Which while that doesn't rule out successors does kinda imply it's "just" the DA

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought along some help. But I would be surprised if they brought along more than a couple companies worth of successor support.

They weren't expecting to fight the entire sector just the knights while they were distracted by the orks.

My concern is that they might have rallied their successor chapters into this; one chapter, even a first founding one, is a beatable threat. Multiple chapters working in concert, led by the aforementioned First Founding Chapter? A far tougher foe, if it can even be beaten. And yes, that would be at a minimum pushing the limits of what is permitted by the Codex Astartes, but then again, what's new WRT the Dark Angels doing their own thing?

Also, huh, I didn't know that they had two Glorianas in addition to the Rock. That would be even sketchier if they had another force like that in reserve even if we did beat one of their Glorianas.

*Meanwhile in the Beoworf Sub-Sector, a Warboss came in with complete optimism.*

Warboss: "Boyz! Ma weird boy says 'dat an ork party iz kom'n ova ta give dose beakeez a gud drashing! We are gunna have 'da best WAAAGH! soon. Praise be ta Gork an' Mork!"

*There is much rejoicing among the Orks... then the Dark Angels arrive and ruin their mood.*

Warboss: "Dose are not orks! Dose are poorly disguised beakeez! Dis iz unforgivable! Let's krush dose impostaz 'oo tricked us!"

*In a move that confused much of the Asgardia Sector, the Orks only attacked the Dark Angels and ignored everyone else on the field.*

Even if it is not the invincible reason, it's still a f$&@ing Gloriana class ship.

Make no mistake We will now around the top of their shit list after this campaign. There's no way for us to actually defeat them for good, because they are recruiting worlds, and most valuable stuff is going to be deep in the imperium with the Rock.

The most we can affectively do here is bloody their nose, and maybe steal some of their shit.

We are going to need to change some policies and harden defenses around the Knights worlds because they will not stop.

Again, I don't see them, pulling in full chapter forces from their successors in this first attempt.

They'll probably have a few companies worth but in my opinion, they are here to kill the Knights .

The prophecy stated the Beowulf sub sector in particular. That means the dark angels aren't here for the entire sector. They don't have the motive nor the resources for that kind of fight (while keeping it privte)

If they have enough information to know exactly where the knights are they probably know of us, and the fact that we are engaged in a separate campaign. Which means they probably won't anticipate us redeploying all of our forces to counter them. And there is no way in hell they are anticipating the tau showing up (both because the tau are new on the scene and their souls are hard to read from the warp)

Make no mistake. This is going to be hard and it's going to be costly. But the DA are also unlikely to be prepared for the sheer amount of f%* we are going to throw at them.

Not this time, no. But the next time? And the time after that? To say nothing of the sorts of 'fuck you and your fleet and your everything' superweapons they might still be holding onto/amassing.

Now on the one hand, that sucks, because I can see them constantly trying to attack us like that. Fortifying those worlds will be a must if that's the case, while on the other hand, more future loot?

In hindsight I fear I may truly be a Blood Raven at heart. At least here we don't have to make up a history on why we got relics from the Dark Angels

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie future prospects are Grim considering we are now on the Lion's gene lines shit list and unlike most Fallen we can't exactly run away.

But that's a problem for the future.

If we succeed at nothing else I want that Gloriana .That would be the crowning jewel of our fleet

I'm hoping that if we present enough of a porcupine that the DA will get distracted by the dozens of other things on their attention.

It's unlikely but I can dream

If we do get that Gloriana I wonder how the DA will explain how it was lost in the first place, I mean I'm sure there are records of the DA still having it in the current era right. If nothing else having an interlude showing them having to find a way to explain its sudden loss will be funny for sure.

Explain it to who? It isn't like the Dark Angels answer to anyone.

Speaking of the Sector, do we have a complete breakdown of the number and type of worlds we have? (I.E. X Hive Worlds, X Feral Worlds, X Feudal Worlds, X Civilized Worlds, etc.)

In the future, I think it would be prudent to begin uplifting the lower-tech worlds to increase productivity, manpower and defenses.

This Sector is huge, it has 100 subsectors, each made up of 5-15 solar systems each.

No we don't have a breakdown and we only own a small portion of it.

No we don't, we do know that there's 100 sub-sectors in the sector with like 70+ of it under our control (triumvirate) but for world types that would just be difficult for the QM to keep track off, especially with everything else going on with industry, ships numbers, marine numbers etc etc.

[X] Plan: To Survive
So on a scale of 1 to 10, how much of the Tau's optimism towards the Imperium is going to be crushed once they meet the Dark Angels?
Not any worse then standard Space Marines I wager? I don't remember anything about them having any particular enemy they favour (aside from Chaos via Fallen).

If you mean 'they came looking for Knights of Caliban, run into the Tau, proceeded to give them their first taste of hostile Astartes' then probably a solid 5. They will realise there are people in the Imperium they definitely can't negotiate with but they still have 3 other chapters they convinced to ally with them, one of which is the Dark Angels own successor.

Not a lot?

The DA aren't nearly as brutal and dark as the imperium gets and their sorta laser focused on the knights.

It's not like they are the marines malevolent, flesh teares or cacaradon revers.

-[X] Skald Action: Call upon our alliance with the Tau to Defend against this great waaagh!, any help they can spare would be greatly apprciated in our time of dire need, promise a hounourbound debt on our part.
-[X] Godi Action: While combi-weapons are undeniably effective they face 2 major issues. They must be individually crafted by your chapters Tech Marines and the secondary weapon usually has very little ammo. You have come to an interesting solution to this problem. If your Tech Marines could find a way to attach specialist pistols to the bottom of your bolters then your brothers could have far more flexibility in combat. This solution has two problems however. The bulk of the standard Godwyn bolter would prevent any under mounted weapon and the specialist pistols will have to be redesigned to fit them. The reward for solving this problem, however, is to great to pass up. Order your Godi's to start designing a slimmer, more customizable bolter with undermounted weapons in mind.
