Mostly cosmetic. Human stuff is utalitarian. Elf has golden highlights always. Dwarf stuff tends to be hefty.

@Lost Star can we get use a Fate Point to accidentally meet someone, like say an enchanter looking for an apprentice or something similar
 
Sure. Consider them sort of altering the 'story.' If you can spin it as believable, I don't mind altering what I'm writing. Though I would caution you about what you ask for. It might not get you everything you want.

BTW Lost out of curiosity what do you suggest if we want challenge in regards to crafting (challenge other than the Segment limitation)

You mean getting challenges for your character, or challenges in mechanics?

Both would be good actually though the latter primarily since we have lot's of options for making things and little reason to use them and the former for lots of flavor since again it really shows off your skills at writing people.

I hate that..... so so much.

Btw would something like using the fate point to get an important-ish Magician(someone who has lot's of politics going on at the sides for Char development) who is coming back from studying Dwarven forging overhearing that there's a Dwarven trained Blacksmith who can smith Mythril which he was studying as well and now can bring home with him.
