Remember that the basis of our argument was that you insisted that (paraphrased):
-'the King was a giant idiot that assigned Waylan an exclusive task of armoring dozens of knights alone and that siad jobs would forevermore remain uncompleted unless Waylan personally did them'.
In turn I insisted that (paraphrased):
-'the King was not being a giant idiot and assigning did not assign Waylan armor repair jobs for dozens of knights alone and that they would be completed in time regardless of Waylan being involved'.
There were in fact other smith's handling the repair work on the knights' armor, as the main basis of our argument was that which of us was correct on the general competence level of the Kingdom, I can say that I 'won' for all the nonpoints that is worth.
What I want you to take from this is that irony is a powerful force in the universe and that you need more practice in not being its instrument. We all make errors, its best to learn from them.
Official project and not something personal(beyond the tools which should be cheap in materials), so economy should be a none issue.

Thinking about it, I still disagree with the prank on principle. Unlike someone who is normally arrogant, Leon is legitimately better than everyone else. And to undermine his passion with under handed tricks is pointless from everything but an OOC perspective.
I mean if someone challenge us to make awesome stuff and drug us before teh challenge itself, I'll be pretty piss because it's one thing to do it by making yourself better (say with using better equips) and another to do it by making sure I'm not working at my best

Something to consider is that they aren't in a team in the first place since you can argue that Leon is not meant to be a soldier who works well with others.
More to the point right now the problem isn't Leon specifically, it's that all the people involve are biased at this prodigy. Yes they said that he's arrogant but it's a second hand accounts that he has a 'swell head' from a biased source. Considering Leon's is literally an Idiot, I find it more likely that his swell head can be cured by a good scowling or is exagerated and either way we can't prove it.
That they are willing to have someone else actually beat Leon rather than themselves says much about how bad an idea this is.

Can't we ask our supervisor for some monetary assistance for our tools? They do make him both more effective and time efficient so it really should be a priority for them and we shouldn't have to pay for them ourselves. Hell, aren't we locked into a multi-year contract so they should easily get sufficient benefit within that time frame especially as we likely have some good will from our completed projects already.
