It looks like there's a lot of science that can be done.
Sounds like different parts of our body, when supplied with magic, offer all sorts of different effects for us.
I'm especially interested if the eyes would allow us to see magic. That would be really useful.

You're free to determine what everyone does for science next, or if you want to practice basic skills.
Is this an 'either or' or could we test something quickly and the practice our basic skills? Because if it's 'either or' I will have to change my vote.

[X] Try pushing magic into the carved star map.
[X] Take some time to practice your basic skills.
-[X] Spar with Mariko and Ariane one on one.
-[X] While you're sparring, the other can work on dodging with Kishi.

You can do some ability science alongside basic skill practice, yes. However, remember that your time is not infinite and enhancing different abilities and basic skill practice both take a fair amount of time.
Oh dear

Things have gone loco for Koko.
...Good grief, and I was already having trouble with telling two apart at a glance :o.

On a closer look, everyone of the twelve swords has some subtle differences in length, shape of the blade and the pommel. They're barely there, but they exist.

So, my idea is that each of them has a different "enchantment". Like Sword of Dodging +1, Sword of Tree-cutting +1, Sword of Illusion-repelling +1, and so on.
By pumping power in sword, Tamiko can (permanently?) upgrade it to +2 and probably even higher.
Now, how to verify this hypothesis? Either by trying them all against every possible targets or hoping that Catherine have Appraise Skill high enough.

...How would a sword of dodging even work?

Incidentally, science sessions all have longer thinking time, so don't expect update for at least twelve hours or more :V.

You take a quick look behind you to see how the others are doing with their own practice. to your delight, there seems to have been some definite progress! Ariane and Kishi seem to have put some distance between them as the former is doing something with her swords, while the latter is juggling several guns in the air through her telekinesis.

Mariko on her part seems to be doing something with her book, while sitting next to Evelyn. Given by her earlier explanation, she's probably tweaking some sort of barrier design.

From all of them you get the feeling that they're mostly done with the most important stuff like you. But if they need some finishing touches to their practice, you suppose you could spend the time trying out something quick.

It doesn't take long for your mind to focus back on your shield's energy, and the ways you could utilize that better. You've had a lot of different and awesome stuff happen by using the energy in different ways… and different places of your body and equipment.

Your gaze travels to the very shield itself, and you flip your arm around to see the outer carvings of the steel shield. You've known about the patterns, the star map, ever since you actually became a magical girl. But you haven't really thought much about it, seeing as you figured it was probably just another element of your uniform's aesthetics.

However, considering how your swords seemed to form by applying your energy to the edges of the shield, and the holster of the sabre… Maybe you could do something with the elaborate star map on the outer side too? It certainly wouldn't hurt to try it out, just in case!

You focus on the lines of the shield again, telling them to spin. The familiar winds pick up around you again as you gather the generated energy and direct it towards the map. You're only somewhat surprised to realize that it's a valid pathway for the white light that now brightly shines through the carvings.

Something expands from the shield, once you hit the needed threshold: half of your maximum capacity. Suddenly it's all around you, a sphere with a radius of maybe about three meters, centered off of your shield and slowly, almost unnoticeably, shrinking back to you... You're surrounded by some sort of translucent, dark bubble adorned with complex and breathtaking weaving of the starry night sky.

You wouldn't be able to see that in such detail in the city!

So you gaze at the dome with wide eyes, marveling at the intricate and lifelike designs while the walls of velvet close on you. Magic is so amazing…

'T-Tamiko? Wh-where are you? Where did you go?'

You're snapped out of your daze by the sound of Kishi's obviously worried voice in your head. What is she even talking about? You're right there, and you can even see her through the veil, looking at your general direction! Her gaze seems to travel around a lot, you'd guess from the movements of her head.

'But I didn't go anywhere?' you send a message back to her in bemusement and wave your right hand wildly in the air. 'I'm right here in front of you, gazing at the stars I just made! Don't you think they look awesome?'

'W-what?'
Kishi send back to you, sounding even more worried than before. She takes a few aimless steps, unsure where she should be even going. 'T-Tamiko, you're not making any sense… I-I can't see any stars.'

So she... can't see you then? You frown and look up at the star-filled veil before your eyes. That's a very strange power you have there, embedded on the surface of your shield.

However, you can think more about this later. Right now, you probably shouldn't cause your friends to worry about you so much.

You step forward, and immediately the bubble around you shrinks noticeably. Your raise your eyebrow and take another step, once more causing the bubble to shrink enough for the roof to almost touch your head.

Guess it doesn't mix well with movement? That's one way of dispelling your stars, you suppose, even if you seem to have enough instinctual understanding of this to know how to unveil it without just walking off. Maybe it will become handy some day, who knows?

You giggle quietly to yourself and shred the veil to pieces that disappear into the wispy nothingness. Immediately, Kishi's gaze seems to lock onto you and she takes a few hesitant steps forward in disbelief. 'W-where- how?'

"I was here the whole time! See?"
You announce with a wild wave of your hand and jog the rest of the way to her. "Also, I think I may have figured out how to turn myself invisible! And it even came with stars to look at!"
Fitting power for someone as worthless as you…
If it weren't for her robotic body, Kishi would probably sigh at your announcement. But as it is, she settles for standing there incredulously. 'I-invisible? Oh…' She seems embarrassed about her reaction all of sudden.

"Uh sorry for worrying you, though," you apologize awkwardly before continuing your explanation. "It's pretty cool, actually, because I can create a dome with the images if the night sky around me!" you manage to gush out before you're forced to inhale again and calm down a bit. "Oh, and uh... I hope the practice went well here too?"

"Yup! I got a lot done myself,"
Ariane announces cheerily from your side, floating over to you and Kishi along the back of the bench. "Why do you ask, though? Are we going to quit for tonight?"

"Hmm? Nah,"
you say. "I was just wondering if we could have some basic practice with fighting and dodging. I mean, sparring wouldn't hurt?"

'Y-you sound like you have an idea ready?'
Kishi sends to all of you.

"Yeah, I guess," you say and nod right back at Kishi. "I was thinking of having a spar with Ariane and Mariko, one at a time, while you could try dodging practice with the other one! This way everyone can train together."

"Do you mean we're going to do that with our weapons, hand-to-hand?"
Ariane asks you, sounding somewhat more reluctant about it than before.

"Yes, that's sort of the point of practice," you say.

"I-I… I think I'll pass on this one," Mariko finally speaks out from the bench, breaking her previous silence with her shaking voice. "I-I mean… If it's okay, I'd prefer not to spar... It wouldn't, well..."

You turn to look at Mariko. The girl's breathing pace seems to have picked up a bit, even if she tries to hide it under forcefully steady breaths and a faked smile. Her eyes look a bit wide too from what you can make out.

A quick look to her side also reveals a rather concerned-looking Evelyn staring at Mariko, with the plushies (Fluffy is still okay!) still on her lap. It's a bit of a change to the previously bored look on her face for having to just sit there and do nothing.

Benefits:
- Tamiko learned Star Veil (you can think of better names for this... and the other things too if you want). 50 units of shield charge lets her disappear from view under some sort translucent dome that others can't perceive from the outside. It shrinks constantly, a process which is hastened greatly by moving around.

What do you do?

Raise your hand if you could see this coming :V!

Oh I'm fully aware that it's pissed. I just assumed that it had turned its attention from "I'm so worthless" to "whoever did this to me is dead, or will wish they were."
2,5 years worth of self-doubt and isolation. Even if there now exists a rather convenient outlet for those feelings of resentment, the damage to self-doubt doesn't all just go away and become anger like that. While recovery becomes more possible, the sense of self-doubt is still there, reminding Tamiko that everything may have been because of a fluke. She was just lucky to get her wish, she didn't to anything to earn it. And it may have been her own fault that she got cursed in the first place.

Tamiko is great at bottling up her issues and pretending everything is fine, though.

Edit. Also, let this thing be a lesson on not writing in the middle of the night. I re-read the update and I was left wondering what kind of drugs the author was taking :p. Spent 10 minutes editing the most glaring mistakes, and I'm still not happy. But since it's night...

Nah, it's both
That sounds like an interesting theory. Mind explaining?
Well, Tamikos wish was to be 'someone who mattered to others'. So, since wishes help determine powerset, that means all her powers so far are somehow linked to this. The most obvious effect is the dispelling of the curse, but other powers may also come under this: the sword enchantments make those specific aspects of the sword 'something that matters' and thus enhance that aspect. Tamikos jump boost can be viewed as making her leg strength 'matter'. In the instance here, the very same curse of Tamiko becomes so important that it stops being an SEP field and becomes actual invisibility.

Of course I might be completely fucking wrong, but eh, it's conceptual bullshit. Stuff like this tends to be hard to figure out until its explained
