Lying would backfire on us later when she finds out about magic, either by us telling her, or by her stumbling upon it. She's caught the scent, so to speak, of something wrong. She'll do some digging, so her coming to what she feels is a conclusion is frankly inevitable.
If we tell her, 'yes, this is impossible-sounding, but someone made everyone forget me by magic', I don't think it'll be as bad as you think. Sure, Ami won't take it at face-value, but she already has a foot in the door. There will have to be a personal meetup to show and discuss the magical girl shenanigans...
Impeccable timing, Best ATM Thief! That is the perfect way to set up the transition I was just thinking about! We simply say we're not comfortable talking about it over the phone, and arrange for Kishi to tag along as emotional support.
That Ami gets to tease Tamimoe about having a cute nerd for a GF has nothing to do with my enthusiasm.

IMO, this is the type of thing that Tami should handle on her own. Give her the opportunity to actually re-connect with an old friend instead of turning it into a social gathering. We don't need to drag Kishi everywhere.

Your breathing halts and you fall completely silent when Ami brings up the way the others didn't remember you. Though she doesn't voice it, you also suspect this reminded Ami about her own experiences, and how she is likely not entirely down with the way it affected her too. You know you would be bothered if you forgot about your friends, for one thing.
But unlike the last time you talked with your old friend, you now know just how this came to be… You can't really brush it off without a second thought anymore.
So should you tell her then? You have yet to share this with anyone else, and you'd prefer to think that it wasn't a thing more often than not. You made a wish to fight against this, you are alright now. Kishi, Evelyn, Ariane… even Mariko… Your new friends don't need to be bothered yet by something that didn't touch them in the first place.
"Um, Tamiko? Are you there? Did I say something?"
But it's different with Ami. It's different for Yuujin and Matsuko too. They were your friends before this whole 'curse' appeared. They didn't abandon you, they didn't have a choice in the matter… And in a way, they were simply victims like you too. The picture in your drawer tells you as much.
Where was that sense of leniency...
However, you don't really know what to say or even how to explain it. There's still a lot you don't know yourself, and you would also have to reveal magic to Ami in order to have all of this make any sense. And that would inevitably lead to the horrifying circumstances where you met her again.

You release the breath you were unconsciously holding and let out a long, weary sigh.
"Sorry Ami, it's just that… Well…" you say at a low voice barely above a whisper. You don't know if this is the right thing to do, but you can't think of anything better to say here, "Do you want a believable lie... or the unbelievable truth?"
"...What do you mean, Tamiko? I there something going on?" Ami asks you hastily, sounding confused and a bit alarmed at your words, "I… Of course I want you to be honest!"
Well, no going back now...
