[x] Finish the Witch
-[x] Stay on guard just in case. It wouldn't be the first witch you have fought that attacked you when you thought it was dead
-[x] Once the fight is well and truly over go and hug Kishi (It wouldn't be a proper victory without hugging Kishi afterwards. Sort of like a good luck charm?) and Ariane.
[x] Get the grief seed.
[x] Make sure that Evelyn is present and safe.
[x] Check soul gems.

The barrier is dissolving, but the progress is slow and only partial in scale. The creature must still be clinging to life, even in the sad state it currently is. It is probably for the better if you finish it off here and now. You take a tentative step closer to the dying creature, bad memories from the music box witch's last attack still fresh in your mind. You would prefer to not get mauled by another supposedly dead witch if you can help it.

You reverse your grip on the sabre and place it at the remains of the metallic witch's neck. The glow of the blade has subsided already so you will need to put all your strength to this. You crouch slightly, and pull the blade up with your body, cleanly cutting the stump of a neck away from the body of the witch.

It is over in an instant as the witch offers no resistance and the barrier disappears around you. You are back again where you started. Kishi stands a few meters from you and you notice how her gaze locks to Ariane, who is sitting on the ground, pressing her stomach with a glowing hand with a barely-suppressed, pained expression painted on her face. There are several other puncture across her body, all bleeding weakly, and her sword lies motionless on the floor.

You are upon her in an instant, "A-Ariane, what happened to you? I… I-I'll help you, don't worry…" you stutter out loud and press your own hands on Ariane's to help the healing process. She doesn't get to answer as there is a flash of red behind you and soon a de-transformed Kishi hesitantly steps next to you.

"A-Ariane, I thought y-you…" she asks with a shaking but relieved voice and weakly falls on her knees, "y-you exploded, and, and… I-I'm glad y-you're safe…"

Ariane looks guiltily at the two of you before averting her gaze, "I'm sorry… I… got jumped by one of those needles… and screwed up with my magic. I blew up the floor and fell down into a mass of suddenly angry needles. It, it…"

The girl shudders, her eyes going suddenly vacant. You frown at the reaction and take off your hand, realizing that her physical injuries have already been healed. You don't let her dwell on it though. Without any warning, you pull the two girl into group hug with you. Kishi yelps with the sudden movement.
Something reaches out of your Soul Gem to your friends.
Ariane doesn't offer any kind of resistance and falls almost limp in your arms, only weakly hanging her hand on you. Kishi returns the gesture fully with her other arm, and you can suddenly feel your own wounds beginning to heal as her other one brushes against your stomach.

'Y-you need the healing too,' she telepathies you in a quiet tone under a light blush on her face, 'I-I'll close the wounds for the y-you, okay?'

'T-thank you, Kishi… I appreciate it,' you answer her, feeling grateful at the gesture. She shakes her head slightly in response, 'T-think nothing of it…'

Well, if she insists… You keep hugging your friends for a moment before finally letting go of them and taking a look around you. It is a spacious stairwell of a closed apartment complex, and the grief seed is laying on the ground near you. All of your Soul Gems, though…

Tamiko grief: 573/2000
Kishi grief: 473/1300
Ariane grief: 2363/4600

You are all going to need a cleanse. You rise from the ground and go pick up the seed, taking a look around you. Evelyn is nowhere to be seen. You frown in a sudden wave of worry and shout out loud, "E-Evelyn? A-are you here?"

Your voice echoes eerily in the empty concrete hall. It takes a moment before you hear the echoing answer of her voice, "Uh, yeah! Just a sec, I'll be there!" You sigh in relief as you hear loud and fast steps from the floors above you.

On the ground Ariane looks up at the stairs, appearing a lot better than before, even if her Magical Girl uniform is a bit bloody. Noticing this, Kishi rises to stand and pulls the other girl up with her.

What do you do?

[] Make plans for cleansing now?

[] Talk with Kishi.

[] Talk with Ariane.

[] Glomp Evelyn as soon as she appears in your field of vision.
-[] Talk with her.

[] More group hugs!

[] Make a witty bad one-liner (write-in).

[] Go elsewhere
-[] Training
-[] The aide
--[] Suggest everyone go home to rest.
--[] Pick a destination in the city. You have some time left, dammit!

[] Write-in.

Your seeds are as following:

Amanda: 2290/3000
Elmina: 0/2000

Kishi and Ariane both do have their own seeds but you don't know how much they can take.

We're okay on Grief at just a quarter full, but Ariane and Kishi are both around the halfway mark. Looks like ghost form is expensive, but we kind of knew that.

Anyway, today was probably a net loss on the Seed front, because we spent more than 2000 between us all, I suspect.

We really need to focus more on Witch hunting, because we need a stock. I, for one, won't feel comfortable until we have at least 2 empty Seeds per person. Preferably more, but that's the minimum where we don't have to worry about actually running out abruptly.

Witch card: Elmina
Elmina
Elmina is the silk witch with a heartbroken nature. Yearning for the presence of her lost love and unable to move on, she continues to clothe herself in the finest of silks she and her familiars can produce. She believes that it was her ugly frame that drove her love away from her, but desperately hopes that by hiding it she can earn their affection back. Her familiar is Lawrence, a metal tool that diligently works to create the finest of materials for their master's work.

The witch wasn't really that great offensively and had a modus operandi of running away should the silken cover get compromised in some way. The tower couldn't really heal the witch, but could give the silken covers back. The needles were numerous, but their attack capacity and damage were minimal. However, they could prompt the witch to attack with the beak attack should they manage to tie you down.

The costs induced from the battle and science together (without the ghost form test, all bets are off with that) are actually well below the capacity of the seed you earned from this witch, even without taking into account the fact that you can go over its limit. Good job on saving your magic, by the way. All of you had pretty noticeable amounts of grief on your person beforehand, which can give the impression that a lot of magic was used here.

Yeah, the fight itself was fine for Grief. Good, even.

What I was saying is that all our Grief accumulated today between us, even accounting for the Grief we already had, including the science and fighting and the ghost test is most likely >=2000 Grief 'points', meaning that we currently have access to less Seed capacity than we did yesterday, essentially. Hence, a net loss on the Seed front.

I mean, we know not to use ghost form now because it's obscenely expensive, and we got some training done. That's something. We're still in a better position overall, despite the setbacks.

@Muramasa
Depends on the witch... but going double the listed amount is a stupid move regardless of the witch: even with the most slowly hatching ones. It is especially dangerous to push your luck with the perceivably aggressive ones.

A good rule of thumb for safety if you are not sure of the witch's speed is a multiplier of 1,2.

If the hug the witch vote won what would have happened?
Well, it wouldn't have attacked you. I won't reveal anything else for reasons, but you'd have gotten a pretty interesting scene :V.

Anyone else going to vote? Not that I mind being the sole deciding factor, but Zitz probably won't let me run the quest on my own.

I'm thinking Kishi cleanses first and Ariane finishes the seed. Tamiko is just going to have to go without a cleanse right now.

If Kishi uses Amanda's and Ariane uses Elmrina's then that leaves us with one almost full seed and one full seed. We should probably check and see what seeds they have on them first.
