Hmm, this is a surprisingly short science vote. Well, votes closed.

Can't promise it'll be fast despite not being a wall of text, though.

Time to get to work then. It is easier to get things done when it is not that dark yet, other sources of illumination or no. You dig out your Soul Gem and proceed to transform to your Magical Girl form in a flash of white light.

You turn around to face everyone else present, and Ariane in particular, "O-okay, we should start now. A-Ariane, can you transform first? I-I think we should start with the basics like figuring out your powers and any possible weapon you might have."

The girl doesn't waste time transforming and a flash of green light later she is clad in that familiar frilly dress of hers. "What do you mean by that?" she asks you curiously and summons five orbs of light to surround her, "I have this?"

"W-well yes, that's what I'm getting at. I-I think we should start figuring out how exactly those orbs work. B-but first, try to summon a weapon. I-it should be instinctual… I think?" you say unsurely and turn to look at the more experienced Kishi for help. She nods and takes a step forward to explain it better.

"B-basically, all M-Magical Girls should have a w-weapon of their own," she starts and transforms in a flash of red light, hiding her body with the dark hoodie and switching to telepathy, 'T-they gain i-instinctual skills to use with said w-weapon and can u-usually summon it with their magic.'

Kishi extend her arm and grabs her rifle that seems to appear out of thin air, 'L-like this! T-try it out, i-it should come naturally to you, d-don't push it.'

Ariane looks at her arms with a frown and extends them forward. Almost immediately a large sword appears into the air and the girls grabs it with a delighted smile, "Awesome…" The sword itself is somewhat familiar to you, having seen it back when you fought against Ariane on the roof.

The flambard shares the shape with the one you saw before, but the color scheme is different. Whereas the one from before was dark, this one is more natural and decorated. The metal itself shines silver against the illumination from the orbs of light, and the cross-guard appears to be made from gold. The grip has been wrapped in light green textile and the pommel has a round emerald embedded to it.

The weapon is still larger than the girl wielding it, but Ariane seems to have no trouble lifting and moving it around as she stares at it in amazement. You can see Kishi nod under the hood, 'S-see, it's like t-that. W-weapons often have o-other functions too, and t-they can usually be s-summoned again if broken...'

You can't help but to wonder if such things apply to you too. You haven't really seen many Magical Girls, but based on what Kishi is saying, you weapon combo is an exception to that. You don't think you can summon either your sword or shield normally at least… You frown at your thoughts. Perhaps it is something to can try out later?

Next to you, Evelyn seems to be having mixed feelings about this. She looks at Ariane with curiosity, but she also seems to be very confused for some reas- Oh right, she probably can't hear the telepathy.

"B-basically, your weapon's properties are unique and need to be figured out on their own," you helpfully summarize, "N-now, I think we should try out some experimenting with those orbs before starting the genuine practice. A-Ariane, what can you tell about them?"

The girl breaks her attention away from the sword and towards you. She seems contemplative, almost unsure what to say, "Well… They are easy to bring forth, even in large numbers. I'm not sure how to explain it… But I think I can aim their burst anywhere without looking. It's... weird…"

As if on cue, Ariane let's go of all of the orbs that collapse into the familiar hot beams of light that scorch their way to the ground about 100 meters from your position, "It's difficult to do that with multiple ones, though…" she says with mild disappointment present in her voice.

"W-what do you think they even are?" you ask her, hoping to get more clues about their functions.

"Well, hmm… I think they are like… containers?" Ariane says, sounding speculative, "Again it's difficult to describe, but it feels like holding the light down.... and when firing, it's like carefully guiding it elsewhere through a funnel?"

"W-well, I suppose it is something to start from," you say. Perhaps more specific tests may be needed to get more information about Ariane's powers. However, that can wait since basics come first, "L-let's get to the actual practice then. I-It is no use to have weapons and powers if you can't fight in the first place. K-Kishi, can you-"

'I-I'd say you and A-Ariane should spar with e-each other,' Kishi pipes in, 'Y-you both have c-close-quarters weapons unlike m-me, so you can get more m-mileage from each other. I-I can watch over and i-intervene if something goes wrong, n-not to mention keep Evelyn out of the d-danger zone should something happen.'

You take a look at Ariane, who looks back and forth between her sword and you, unsure what to think of it. Well, you suppose...

What do you do?

[] Say no, Kishi's infinitely better teacher than you anyways.

[] Well, you suppose it is easier to practice melee with a partner...
-[] Weapons only.
-[] Basic powers: no orbs of light or force bubble/sword blast
-[] Free use of powers.
-[] Encourage Ariane to take offensive, brush up your shield use.
-[] Tell Ariane to DODGEEEEEE!!!

In which Kishi steals the show :V. I'm considering letting you have her science her powers at some point when she does her private practice.

Also, if you do science, avoid making overly broad suggestions please. Otherwise, feel free to think of anything for Tamiko/Ariane.

We need to work on our not getting beaten up anyways.

[X] Telepathy Kishi and Arianne to stop talking in telepathy.

Really gotta stop Evelyn from feeling unincluded.

Shouldn't we try to figure out how to get Ariane to manifest her ghost form? Having an expendable body is very useful for combat. >.>

Actually we can't say that for sure. There maybe reasons Kishi can't or won't talk in that form.

If her voice sounds obviously synthesized or mechanical I can easily believe she'd choose to not speak out loud to hide it, yeah.

[:V] Get Kishi to talk while transformed.
[:V] Discover that she has a cool-sounding robot voice!
[:V] Have her start quoting GLaDOS or shouting "EXTERMINATE!", whichever seems more appropriate.

...It is probably easier to actually practice your melee with someone else. Ariane gaining experience from the deal is also a good thing. As such, you nod at Kishi's suggestion and turn to look at Ariane, "L-let's move a bit further away to practice."

You don't give her a chance to respond yet, as you continue to the two other Magical Girls with telepathy, 'A-also, could you two talk normally if possible? I-I think Evelyn is being unduly left out because of that, and it is not very nice toward her.'

Kishi doesn't visibly react even if you think you can see a faint nod from her. Ariane on the other hand is snapped out of her wonder by your words and seems to whole-heartily agree, "That's fine! Uh… How does this practice work? Do we… just go at each other?"

"M-more or less... Come one, follow me here and I'll explain," you say and start walking to a more open area of the park with Ariane in tow. You stop around the place where the other girl fired her beams earlier and turn to look at increasingly nervous girl.

You smile at her slightly, "Okay, I want you to take the offensive role here. U-use your skills to attack me while I try to defend myself and dodge your attacks. T-this way you'll get more experience with your flambard while I can brush up my defense, something that needs a lot of work all things considered..." The ending to your latest fight with a witch springs to mind. The results were not pretty...

"But… won't you get hurt?" Ariane asks, now fully worried, "What if I accidentally hurt you and…"

Oh right, that is probably a valid concern "Don't worry, I'll be fine," you try to assure the girl, "I-if it gets out of hand, I'll tell you to tone it down a bit. Just focus on getting a better understanding of your weapon. I will also prepare my force bubble to repel the attack in case things get out of control, so there's no real danger!"

You immediately set the shield to gather up the necessary energy, filling it halfway of its maximum. The sight of the winds kicking up around you seems to offer some comfort to Ariane's worries and she sets her two-handed blade in front of her to an offensive pose almost instinctively.

You smile at her appreciatively.

"Okay. Ready? Set. Go!" You exclaim and draw your sword without using any of the energy. With a moment's hesitation, Ariane charges at you with a sideways swing that you catch with your shield.

Your hand shakes from the impact and you are forced to realize that the girl is surprisingly strong with that blade, even if not very accurate. However, it is not anything you can't take with your current skill level. You push the sword away and take a step back to prepare for the next strike from her.

And so it goes on, with Ariane progressively getting more confident in her swings and you becoming more and more hard-pressed to get out of the way or repel the strikes. Sword and shield held in one arm are apparently not exactly the best choices when taking a two-handed sword strike head on. However, this is effective at making you realize better ways to dodge and parry attacks like that.

Unfortunately, your defensive skills are still not the best, and without taking the initiative yourself, Ariane soon manages to blow the sabre away from your hand with a powerful sideways swing that is followed by her twirling around for another swing due to too large momentum.

She barely has the time to realize the mistake before the flambard is almost upon you with your shield too clumsily on the way. Time seems to slow down for you as you push on the energy inside your shield, this time to the outer layers of the weapon itself.

Idly you realize that the carved star map and the scabbard of your sabre have a slight pull on the energy too, but focusing the energy on the outer shell produces a round wall of said energy in front of the shield, covering you behind the white glow. Ariane's sword is completely reflected from the wall between you, careering away before stopping in the air next to the girl. It immediately begins to… orbit her? Indeed, the sword seems to be rotating slowly around Ariane without anything visible holding it aloft. The blade is pointing to the ground.

However, most of your focus is put on the round wall in front of you. It seems a lot more solid than the force bubble, but covers only your shield's side and doesn't move at all. It manages to stay in existence for a few seconds before dissipating away and leaving you standing there with a stunned Ariane.

"Tamiko… Are you alright there?" Ariane asks you.

What do you do?

[] Squee, success!!!

You gained bonuses to dodge while Ariane gained bonuses to attack. These and all the other results will be added when you are done with the science.
