Sorry about double post guys, but I just remembered this.
So, what do you guys think we should do about Mariko? If we just let this lie, it'll become a problem later on. Might be best to be proactive about this as soon as possible.

We had no indication until now that she was a meguca. The earlier update may have hinted at a potential contractee and that's generally not a good thing when the girl in question could've had a grudge against you based on earlier actions. That and even Kishi said things would escalate if we had no real idea of what we were doing. Still don't really.

Chapter 2 - Afternoon of your own 2

She is somewhat correct in saying that you have no idea what just happened. You probably have heard in some of your classes about the whole kissing on the cheek thing that's typical elsewhere. It would normally fall on the rational part of the brain to tell you that this isn't anything lewd, or anything to be bothered about really.
However, said part of your brain was the first to shut down when she glomped you. Your blush just intensifies the more you dwell on what just happened, and soon enough every bit of strength leaves your shaking legs. You fall on your knees, your legs spread in a w-shaped pattern on your sides as you lean back slightly.
All through this you keep stammering out loud, "A-Ariane… w-why did you… I-it's not like that… please…"
To your credit, you are still more or less aware of your surrounding and thus faring somewhat better than Kishi who has turned the lovely shade of a freshly painted fire truck. She is still standing, but it is obvious that she is utterly paralyzed. A constant stream of gibberish keeps coming out her mouth at a rapid pace, but you can't make out any individual words in the state you are.
"Yeah, you definitely should warn them the next time!" she manages between her bouts of laughter, "They are not used to things like that."
"But… It's just a greeting between friends!? Why are they...What are they doing!?" Ariane manages to blurt out in panic and she runs back to you, hurriedly waving her arms in front of your faces, "Uh, I'm sorryyyyy!"
"Uh, let me…" Evelyn sets her hand on Ariane's shoulder and pulls her back a bit. She forcibly calms herself down clears her throat and starts to speak to you and Kishi in the most calming voice she can muster, "Sorry, there's no need to embarrassed about that. I know it seems a bit sudden, but that's pretty normal back where I'm from."
She takes a small pause and gazes at Ariane who looks at you guiltily, "Kissing each other on the cheeks is basically done as a greeting between friends. There's nothing else to it, I promise."
You swing your body a forwards and stick your hands on the ground to keep the balance. You glare at the two girls in front of you, feeling a bit more coherent but still embarrassed, "A-and why didn't you warn me about t-that!? Or do that before!?"
"Preparation courses for transferring here. They were quite adamant about adapting, and hammered it in that you should not go for that kind of things here unless asked. Well that's the gist I got at least… I think there were some more complicated rules, but most were 'do nots', so…" she answers back casually, brushing aside the concern.
"Anyways, let me help you up…" She offers her hand with a slight smile on her face.

To be fair to Adriane Kishi does have a somewhat blatant crush and Tamiko is oblivious. If Kishi denied the crush and Adriane believed her, that would alter one's perception of what were the social behaviors between friends.

We may want to consider taking some time out for training. Ariane froze up, Tamiko really needs to work on dodging, and while Kishi has been our mainstay in combat, she has the lowest potential of everyone. If she goes down, or is incapaciatated we are in a pickle. (I am honestly suspicious that Kyubey meant for her to be a quick witch out just due to how abrupt his recruitment was. Though spur of the moment "I want to live" wishes seem to survive surprisingly well, considering Mami...)

Kishi is not really a viable long-term investment due to heavy personal issues constantly pressuring her and the girl's pretty bad relations with Coobs (read, did not take to her robotic transformation too well). Mami may have had her issues too, but she was a genius Magical Girl who trusted and liked Kyubey enough for his company to keep her semi-stable.
And Kishi is hardly the best MG in the area for witch-wiping in the first place.
