Even if it does cause others to care about us, Ziz specifically said that it doesn't force people to do so (Like some kind of passive mind control thing). My guess is that it's something that strengthens whats already there, but the actual friendship/relationship it strengthens is still all down to Tamiko

We wished to be someone who 'matters' to others. Had we confronted Mariko, I'd imagine we'd matter in a completely different way.

Pff, whatcha mean "had we"? We can make our fist matter to her face if y'know what I mean, that is totes still an option here.

'cuz that worked out so well for Kyouko that one time in SayakaQuest and all. :V

I... have a growing suspicion that our wish isn't just countering Kimiko... it's forcibly compelling others to care about us. Hmm.
If you are referring to the whole 'something reaches out of Soul Gem', no. The principle of how that thing in particular works is a bit strange, but the effect should be more or less deductible from the scenes where it has been brought up.

Wait.
If we're someone that matters to others, that could be phrased as reaching out to others.
Is our soul literally reaching out to others to make those connections to them.

[x] Talk with Kishi.
-[x] Of course we should know about this. We're her friend, how are we supposed to help her if she isn't telling us her problems?
-[x] Sometimes, one simply needs a comforting hug and a listening ear to ease the burden of one's problems.
-[x] No, she isn't pathetic. We know this because Kishi is Kishi, my first friend after years of being alone.
-[x] We have each other and that means a lot.

[x] Unlimited Hug Works

[x] Muramasa

I like the altered wording there.

Hope no part of the school's more than 100 meters away.
Nah, you won't run into Soul Gem -related problems with the gym class since the gymnasium is inside and almost next to the locker rooms. And I'm not feeling enough of a prick to start pulling shit like that yet :V.

In the mean time, votes closed and writing the update.

After that, I'll get around attempting to change uncle's picture and make some modifications to the character lists (i.e. fix some stupidity in Kishi and add more to Mariko).

You bring up your other arm along Kishi's back and set it on her head. Gently, you begin to pet her surprisingly soft hair and, at the same time, tighten the hug a bit with your free arm. She doesn't seem to mind too much, as she ceases her attempt to shake her head in the embrace and falls quiet.

"K-Kishi… O-of course I should know about this. I-I'm your friend," you whisper back at her, feeling surprisingly confident in your own words, "and how am I supposed to help you if you aren't telling me about your problems?"

It is pretty clear now that she has some problems with whatever happened in the locker room, and chances are it is not a recent development. Knowing that, you wish to help her even if you don't really know how yet. You close your eyes and sigh calmly before continuing your speech

"S-sometimes, one simply needs a comforting hug and a listening ear to ease the burden of one's problems… And I am here," you tell the girl in your embrace, hoping that she will listen to you. She has no need to say such things about herself!
And was anyone there when you needed it?
"T-Tamiko, please d-don't-" she tries to say, but gets cut off by you.

"No…" you say firmly at her, "you aren't pathetic. I-I know this because Kishi is Kishi! M-my first friend after years of being alone. We have each other and that means a lot!"

You both fall into a silence, you to let your words sink in and Kishi to think of something to say in response. It takes some time before the other girl has regained enough confidence to speak back to you, and even then her answer comes out weak, "I-I... t-thank you... thank you, T-Tamiko... B-but it's not something y-you can help with. I-it will just get worse if y-you say anything."

Kishi pauses for a moment and shifts a little, perhaps trying to get out of the hug. However, she seems to decide she likes it better like this and falls back into the embrace as she continues, "B-but what you s-said... C-can you promise that... C-can you promise that w-we h-have e-each o-o-other?"

Her stuttering seems to get worse near the end of the sentence. You are not sure if it is because she doesn't believe it or something else. Having her face hidden from your view makes it more difficult to tell.

What do you do?

[] Stay here and continue talking with Kishi.
-[] Promise her, that's what friends are for!
-[] Things can get better if you make them!

[] Now to make good of your offer to help and go confront the girl.
-[] Polite questioning.
-[] Verbal smackdown?
-[] Literal smackdown?

[] Just go to the class, no need to waster your time here.

[] Write-in.

===

"I am the girl of all the hugs,
Gentle is my hold and warm is my embrace,
I will hug away all your worries,
Unknown to others, nor noticed by them,
I have withstood the pain of loneliness,
Yet these hands will never turn away those in need,
For I still care,
UNLIMITED HUG WORKS"
