Ah man I like both of these. Fighter jets are cool and I don't think have been done before as a main theme and Duel Monsters have so much lore and cool designs to draw on.





But if fighter jets or Duel Monsters win I think these would make for a great supermode.

You might have been able to PILOT these two mechs for one episode, but unfortunately you guys didn't pick a Cyberpunk/complete tech focus world. Sorry!

Same plan as Ashen Cross, expect I dropped Extraordinary Synchronicity so that we don't need to take Deficiency In Social (since dumping that stat is a bad idea). Also dropped Known Reputation since it pretty much nullifies one of our Perks and makes one of our Flaws worse, so we don't really need it.

The ex-assassin is a pretty solid archetype, especially given that the very combat heavy statted set up lends itself to some character development in terms of lerning how to human. Then I wondered a bit about what fits with a brash yet calculating ex-assassin, and the calculating part just brought a spider sitting in its web to mind. So hey, that makes a decent theme, just shift it slightly to the mythical figure instead, partially because the whole challenging Athena aspect of the myth fits with the brash trait and partially because it extends the theme from just spider webs to also include textile weaving and as far as I'm concerned, the character image has a very nice scarf already, so I would not at all mind if we maintain a certain amount of fashion.

As a bonus, while the threads can be used for setting up traps and the like, they also very much just lend themself to the idea of connection, bonds. Which again brings us back to the idea of learning how to human and perhaps thematically justifies actually having some burried affinity for growing closer to people, which is where the social speciality and the synchronicity fit in.

@MrKermie I made a new theme.

As for the Duel Monster plan/power, while I do actually find the idea rather neat, I don't think that taking something that leans very heavily into the heart of the card and making the duel monsters sentient entities to interact with plays well with making social the dump stat.

Increased selection of special moves in combat, which pertain to debuffing your opponents damage or mobility. Also, spending enough time around certain characters will allow you to see the relationship threads (relationship situation) between them.

While I do feel the need to lean into our inspiration, I feel like Duel Manifestation is a bit too far. I'm willing to take a trait and Flaw to shore up either Mental, Social or Technical to make Zweithund more attractive.
 
Why not a magical Cabal origin.

The character joins up because ideals, need for belonging or just the cabal leader has a cult personality.

To gain powers they summon and fuse with youkai or other monsters.

As Cannon fodder the Mc could have been fused with youkai that was powerful or smart enough to give the mc a real look at what's happening.

As for how they leave the organization, they were defeated as a mook, their only friend died to help them escape or they ran as the Hero raided the Cabals base.
