Of Lords and their Legions (A Necron Overlord Quest)

Voting is open
The human question is coming up, what should be our position on it? Personally, I don't believe 40k Imperial worlds should be given the same position as that of the Sarino. The largest reason of course, is religion.

The Imperial Creed preaches hatred of all Xenos, of which we are. And even if we curb said religion and get the Priests to strike that particular line from the books, it would be impossible to rule Imperial worlds without a very large base of dissent.

Edit: Now some sort of puppet relationship? Where the world in question is banned from space travel and whose only use should be manpower for Penal Legions. And above all else, restriction from ever touching Necron tech.

social engineering to root out imperial creed and replace it with something more like the tau ''greater good'' might work

untill then,a puppet state is necesary

maybe try to take human genome and clone our own humans, educated in necron and sirano culture, colonize a few planet with them, and then use them as diplomats for when we need to deal with other human polities

[X] A temperate paradise; Average temperature of 17 degrees. This is the temperature at which the Sirano are most comfortable. Substantially colder than Daeloth, but they are evolved to deal better with a more temperate climate

What better way to garner trust than to gift them a brilliant garden?

That should take less energy and time.
What was found on the human ships - data, technology, FTL?

No technology of any great consequence for you. The Sirano have poured over the ships and discovered a few items of consequence (a much more refined geller field than their own being the main one) but without the construction methods or detailed blueprints there is relatively little to be pulled from the Imperium ships for them. So this is a case that simply knowing that something is possible makes it much easier to do.

Its basically impossible to steal the Imperiums FTL methods. Without the astronomican or navigators, pretty much all races bar the Necrons and Eldar are limited to "shallow" warp jumps which are much slower.

Did we capture anyone?

You captured several hundred. Mostly higher ranking officers and captains such as the guy in the update. These were interrogated thoroughly in order to get a clear picture of the sector and the planets within it. The sheer number giving you the ability to cross reference and verify the (largely fabricated) information which they were eventually forced to give up.

Any trained Pskyers? Or Navigators?

Huh, that's also a large amount of prisoners. If relations were ever to normalize between us and the Empire, we could try for a prisoner exchange. Normalize as in, it would take a fully organized Crusade to fight us and they know it. For now, let's just throw them into cold storage until we want to use them for anything.

Unfortunately nothing like that. The imperium is aware of the advantage that such people offer and take extreme action to counter any attempts at capture. Such individuals not only are very heavily defended bu also have handlers to ensure they do not go rouge. The psyker casualties on captured Imperial vessels were total and very few were by your own hand

I simply assumed that the prisoners would be killed. If the thread wants them kept alive, a relatively small number such as this can easily be kept and is not contrary to Necron thinking. Though if the number of captives begins climbing into the low thousands a less ad-hoc solution will be required

I think only the leaders of the fleet/ships. People of rank and privilege that might one day warrant us releasing them (or shoving a mind control scarab on them). Some of them surely are fairly well connected to planetary governments...

You know if we encounter the Slaugth we may be able to learn how they manage interstellar travel without using the Warp. Unfortunately... that's not a certainty since they tend to use subtlety a lot rather than directly and openly do things like the Orks.

Jornakh and the Sirano
[X] "Reforge Sirano administratively and culturally, to better reflect their new role in the Necron Empire. Focus their society on reproduction and the colonization of worlds. Furthermore, begin the construction of multiple Sirano armies capable of being deployed in support of foreign Necron Dynasties."

Silence fell in the audience chamber as you made your pronouncement. If Jornakh so desired a chance to rule he could prove his skill. To turn the people of a continent into even an approximation of a useful people would likely tax him to the limit, even for such a lengthy time frame. Which was good, after all a busy heir was one that wasn't plotting your death.

However when, after a few seconds he still stands seemingly in shock you begin to doubt yourself. Perhaps you had been too hard on the boy. To even look after a single planet of the living was a challenge for even the greatest minds. Even you, always greatly skilled in administration, felt a weight fall off you when you had realised all the supply chains and strategies, all the bureaucracy and needless politics were removed by the Biotranspherance.

Finally you were brought out of your musings by your heirs response "Of course father, It shall be done. Forgive me for my silence, I had simply thought that my first task would actually be a challenge to my abilities". With that, he sketched a brief yet to your eyes somehow conceited bow and turned, his living metal cape flaring as he strode from the hall. lords parted before him, whispers and chuckles following him and his retinue out the door as you were forced to seethe in regal silence

Sirano Impression of Jornakh

Breakpoints = 20/40/60/80 1d100 +20 = 66

Initially Jornakh had significant issues connecting with and leading the Sirano. He had only been a few decades old when bio transference occurred and his inexperience with the living gave him very slanted views on how to approach the Sirano and their problems. Repeatedly he found his efforts at governance stymied by nobles utilizing obscure protocol and traditions to limit his effectiveness as their overlord. He Also frequently found his efforts for changes and reforms limited by corruption and excess found in the upper levels of government. Ultimately however, he is over time able to get the SIrano to like and respect if not love him. The colonization of different worlds and the terraformation of Telgu to fit their required needs starts taking great prominence in his rhetoric and is presented as a gift from him and his kind to the Sirano. He increasingly frames this and the gradual technological uplift as an attempt to bring wealth and prosperity to the Sirano people, becoming a spokesman for the people and the military above that of the nobility, who begin to develop a mild distrust of his methods. He is also relentless in improving his understanding of his new subjects, walking among and speaking to the masses being seen doing it his efforts gradually improve his understanding of how a living society functions and his relationship with the "children of the Necrontyr" as he calls them begins to improve.

  • They like him. He has some issues initially, but his skill and charm gradually win the people over if not so much the nobility

5 personal actions
  • Apply mass cloning for the Sirano dc 40 = 1d100+21 = 40

Cloning has ever been a skill set of the Necrontyr. However, the failure rate for their cursed bodies never let them pursue it for the same reasons that Jornakh does. Rak shuls curse causing mutation and collapse in the vast majority of bodies. Despite these advantages, the perfected process for the Sirano still takes Jornach and his scientists fully 4 years of dedicated effort. However, once the work was done, He has facility a facility made for creating tens of thousands of clones each year. Once the process proven and with the resources you were providing, dozens more are soon under construction.

  • Mass cloning is now being conducted by Jornakh for the Sirano. These will begin being fielded as grand legions of the Sirano by turn 20

Bartering with the Ahrekh'un
  • Dc = 40 - 1d100 +20 (diplomacy) = 104
You were privy to the conversations Jornakh had the the Agrekh'un representatives. Although it is better to say that you were present when Jorrnakh dictated terms to them. Milking the perceived insult from their last representative in the court of lords for all it was worth, as well as emphasising how thin the Agrekh'un were stretched. He is able to drive and exceptionally steep price for what is essentially an under equipped garrison force. By the end you were astounded, for The Agrekh'un even seemed thankful for the 'favor' that Jornakh was doing for them. Within 7 years of your pronouncement to Jornakh, a grand transport barge and its shroud cruiser escorts decelerated into the Daeloth System and the 1st Sirano Grand legion boarded, headed back to relieve a small portion of the overstretched Agrekh'un. It left behind hundreds of megatonnes worth of precious high grade alloys and as well as one of its two escorts, which Jornakh takes as his personal flagship.

Do they have to fight anything significant dc 80 = 70 - a relatively quiet assignment with some action

The biggest action that the unit participated in was an attempted invasion by a splinter force from a disintegrating Waagghh. A single meteoric entry vehicle and light escorts attacked the planet where the Sirano were stationed. The escorts were annihilated by orbital defenses, however the rock managed to crash land onto the planet, depositing near a million Orks in the process. Orks who outnumbered by an order of magnitude were swiftly dispatched with minimal loss of life for the defenders.

How are they treated 10/30/90/100 = 22

Derided as unnecessary, expensive and unworthy by the local lords, the Sirano mostly stick to their barracks when they are not required, rarely venturing further afield. Eventually, when the Agrekh'un come asking for them to consider a second term of service the offer is soundly rejected by a majority vote

After their 5 year term is completed the expedition is relieved by a second expedition and upon their return are rewarded with significant land grants on Telgu, though they are made to wait nearly a decade before settling begins as the geological cataclysm happening beneath the surface of the planet gradually subsides.

  • Grand legions are being deployed to the Agrekh'un more and more often as they become available in order to supplement their buckling lines. Jornakh has managed to negotiate exceptionally beneficial terms for his race which now receives industrial supplies and occasionally baseline level Necron ships and infrastructure to aid in his people development.

Scouting for planets = 1d100 + 55 - 'discovers' Delinova
Delinova - do the Sirano survive 1d100 - 80 = 2 - bronze age primitives

With the Shroud he acquired from the Agrekh'un Jornakh scouted the local Temeron sector taking particular note of the worlds of the former Sirano Empire. He discovered the Siranee, but elected not to make immediate contact and instead explored the remainder of their old empires planets, discovering the presence of humanity on nearly all of them. Until that is he searched for Delinova. A planet located upon the edges of Sirano's ancient star maps but not also not present on those of the Imperium. What he discovered on that forgotten worlds was greatly pleasing to him.

Delinova is an arid planet. Of dusty plains and sandy deserts which stretch as far as the eye can see. However, near the Poles the planet is quite hospitable with temperate land suitable for the Sirano present there. This was self evident, for the farms were still tilled and the plains still irrigated. The Sirano remained here, but time and the Orks had not been kind to them. It appears that in the distant past in the waning days of their empire Delinova managed to withstand the onslaught of the Orkish attacks. their great defensive batteries in orbit falling one by one but reaping a terrible cost against the Orkish fleet. By the end of the battle both forces had been terminally beaten and some of the starship corpses of that last battle still remain above the planet. The rest however, have fallen below. Immense craters dot the surface of the world whose populace were nearly slain by the apocalyptic rain. They survived, but it was a narrow thing and their society regressed far back to that of primitive bronze age kingdoms. A state they are only starting to emerge from now.

Deciding that quick and decisive action would be quicker here than diplomacy Jornakh began planning for the conquest of this planet for the glory of his new empire.

Talks with the Siranee
=1d100 + 20 = 26 failed with subsequent actions made more difficult

When Jornakh first approached the Siranee he did so via a shroud class cruiser. Ensuring that he could not be seen by any lingering Imperial vessels. This proved to be disastrous, for when he did reveal himself he did so far within the Siranees detection envelope. Panicking their people and prompting them to launch fighters from their vast orbital station. The shroud untroubled by the pinpricks continued to advance and began projecting a message hoping to open negotiations with the Siranee.

Eventually forced to accept that this mystery vessel did not intend immediate harm a meeting was arranged with the fortress's second in command on a small Siranee owned satellite. As soon as the meetings began there were already difficulties. Jornakh intended to show himself as a benevolent monarch and had brought along numerous Sirano attendants whose presence immediately derailed the negotiations. The Siranee believed that Jornakh had conquered some lost sirano world and indoctrinated them with his own monstrous culture. The ensuring explanation doing little to disabuse them of this notion. Discussion about possible union or vassalisation with their brethren under Jornakh was swiftly dismissed and the meeting concluded having achieved nothing but aggravating the Siranee. Who do remain open to diplomatic overtures, but are insistent on them being conducted at arms length.

The conquest of delinova
1d100 +18 = 96
With stealthy transportation limited to the shroud that Jornakh acquired from the Agrekh'un the hypothetical invasion force of the Sirano would be rather limited. This was further complicated by the vast majority of military production going toward outfitting the expeditionary grand legions. Therefore it took significant time to gather the spare equipment even for this much more sedate force. Merely 250,000 would eventually be used to complete the subjugation of the feudal planet. The modern legions of the Sirano facing more trouble with the conquered population than their bronze age equivalents, who fled from the field more often than actually engaging in battle.

Thus most of the Sirano investment on the planet ended up being infrastructural rather than military in nature. However in order to not incite unrest back on Daeloth The hearts and minds of the locals had to be captured rather than broken. Thus the queens of their cities were mostly left in place with the most barbaric and cruel being removed to the cheers of the populace. Mines and infrastructure were created in order to bring some semblance of true civilisation to the natives with the hopes that in significant enough time they may be welcomed as true citizens into the new Sirano Emplre

Thus did Jornakh acquire his first extra system territory. A rather barren world which would require significant time and effort to be made useful. But for the Necrons, whose plans span millenia it is still a strong first step.

While Irrelevent to the Necrons as they are now, the Sirano were able to pursue biological research the Necrontyr had never had the time or energy to go down. The curse of Rak Shul after all ensured that any bio - engineering was primarily focused on lengthening the time spent alive, or simply making Necrontyr healthier while they yet lived.

During the beginning of their colonization efforts for Duat the Sirano recognized that they were very poorly suited for the arid planet as they were. It is estimated that even with the most advanced technologies the Sirano knew of, without committing to a complete transformation, Duat was only capable of sustaing a population of only a hundred million. If they were to prosper in the way that Jornakh was asking them to, they needed to be able to colonize this worlds and near any world of import they discovered.

Through lengthy studying of their genome the Sirano scientist delved further than ever into what information their DNA contained and what information could be manually encoded into it. Gradually discovering ways for environmental experiences to be stored within their own bodies to be passed on to the next generation. As the technology developed it was discovered that the process of evolution could be greatly accelerated within their species, to the point where full acclimatization would theoretically occur within only a few generations of unprotected life on the planet so long as the environment was not too extreme. There were safeguards implemented however to ensure that genetic drift is not too varied ensuring they still remain a single unified species.

  • The Sirano receive a significant bonus to what they consider habitable planets and will to a certain point adapt to inhospitable planets over generations, requiring no investment of resources.

Breakthrough (year 4) dc = 90 = 100 = Cascade drive
Breakthrough (year 17) dc = 90 = 18 = Nothing unknown to Necrons

Thought initially as an error in recording equipment the Cascade drive was discovered in a freak accident in the fourth year of the Sirano's vassalisation. In the course of researching antimatter power generation. A stabilizing disc, a key part of antimatter technology, had while undergoing testing, begun to be surrounded by a slowly multiplying coat of antimatter, all contained within powerful shields. Unfortunately for the scientists running the experiment, a moment of instability occurred due to nanoscopic faults in the disk's construction, which ultimately resulted in an unstable cascade of antimatter creation. Within milliseconds a cataclysmic detonation was the result. The force fields bulged for a third of a second as they struggled to contain the apocalypse within. The invisible boundary flaring to a brilliant cyan before ultimately failing. Still, they contained the worst of the blast, which coupled with the depth of the facility, hundreds of metres below the surface and its sheer remoteness, located near the northern pole. Turned what could easily have been an extinction event, into merely a large detonation, vaporizing only the rock within a few hundred metres.

Only when conducting the necessary review of the experiment did the Sirano scientists make a revolutionary discovery. The third of a second during which the monitoring devices remained active allowing deep insight into what actually occurred. The stabilisation disk briefly disappeared from frame at the very beginning of the detonation, thought destroyed, until an analyst spotted it 3 frames later. in the 9 nanoseconds between those two images. It had somehow escaped the still unbreached shield walls and more importantly, it had travelled 14.734 metres . What began as an unmitigated disaster swiftly became the primary focus of not only the nation, but the Necrons ruling it. For if this recording was correct the Sirano had discovered a native method of either teleportation, or even more interestingly, faster than light travel. Jornakh quickly requisitioned an antimatter fabrication engine from his father's domain and created a far more advanced and secure facility on Telgu for the scientists to continue their work.

Within a year and several more much more contained detonations, the scientists were able to repeat the results. within four they were able to replicate the effect on command. Only a few months after that, using canoptic swarms to swiftly iterate they had created a tiny craft, fitted with nothing more than the antimatter generator and drive, basic life support and enough room for a single Sirano to test the effects of this travel on a living creature. It was the third of its kind and hopefully would not meet the fate of its forebears. Its pilot, Agrist'an was an experienced spacefarer. Having corralled asteroids for mining consortiums in his youth, he would be relied upon to hopefully fix any issues in transit if such came to pass.

The experiment began after the craft was placed at the edge of the Dailoth system, as previous experiments showed instability when near strong gravity wells. The craft extended an energy field around itself along which antimatter spread, slowly encapsulating the pod in an invisible screen. Then, the field created tiny instabilities at the nose of the pod, the antimatter was forced into a predetermined pattern, a miniscule amount of matter was introduced and the explosive mix detonated outwards, the universe's laws buckling minutely in such a way that its walls folded, and the craft vanished from sensors.

Only to reappear less than half an hour later at the edge of the system, where its was then reclaimed and brough back by a khopesh class cruiser. After reviewing the ship's log and debriefing a very shaken Agrist'an, it was discovered that the dimensions that the fighter journeyed through were recognizable to Necron science. But such a crude method of transversal had never been devised or thought possible, merely stable portals, the foundations of Necrontyr wormhole and teleportation technology. The technology was now proven. The craft had only exceeded the speed of light by 11.3 times yet this was the exact speed that the scientists had desired, and it was clear that there was further development in the design. Soon, the newly forged fleets of the Sirano were having ever more potent engines installed. Eventually a baseline was reached where even as the technology improved the navy settled on a standard engine for the ships which would mount the drive. Which while only capable of 600c would serve while they delved deeper into the Cascade drives potential.

The Yulenoth of course were stunned by this turn of events. While the Sirano were seen as a useful tool by most, there were still some who derided their continued existence. This discovery silenced many such critics. While scientist lords pointed out that there were limitations of this drive, that the realistic theoretical maximum speed for war vessels would only allow it to cross the galaxy in 5-6 years. This was still seen as an improvement on Necron technologies, who risked annihilation to have the Inertialess drive go so fast over uncleared routes. It also brought on a period of introspection to the Necron nobility. For if they had missed this, what other discoveries had simply never been made.

  • The Sirano have discovered a hereto unheard of ftl method, the cascade drive detonates antimatter in such a specific manner as to open a hole into higher dimensions.
  • This method of FTL is theoretically much faster than the inertialess drive, though it will require significant investment to get it there. It is however still much slower than imperial warp travel
  • The drive unlike the inertialess drive works purely as a form of ftl and cannot be activated while in system.
  • The drive is affected by gravitational changes far more than warp drives. Requiring the craft to fully exit the system before activation
  • Movement through the higher dimension (referred to as hyperspace) is constant and does not require the frequent stops of current FTL methods. Removing the chance of interception.

The changes in the Sirano military

The Army

The differences between the Sirano defending their last holdings against Ork invasions and the grand legion sent out at the end of the 20th year of the restoration are extremely stark. First and foremost is the change in infantry. Gone are the high powered laser weapons of their old legions. The miniaturization of power cells and refinement of lightning projectors has allowed far superior tesla weapons to be fielded as the average legionnaires rifle. Simultaneously improvements in high energy containment has allowed the widespread use of plasma weapons as a specialist weapon so individual squads are are prepared if they are forced to fight against heavily armored or monstrous foes. Furthermore, the materials revealed to the Sirano bysupplies kept in imperial ships has allowed their armour to be made harder, more resistant to thermal energy and lighter if for an increase in manufacturing costs. Finally, for the elite of the Sirano armies there has been a widespread adoption of power armour, not fully refined as of yet, and far too complex for the average infantryman to possess. It has nevertheless greatly increased the survivability of the Sirano's finest

The Sirano's combat vehicles have likewise seen a paradigm shift. Further refinement in gravitic engines allow the development of heavy gunships much more capable and heavily armed than those formally wielded by their forces. Furthermore the advances in shield technology means that these craft are capable of mounting rudimentary shielding. Greatly increasing their longevity in combat. Meanwhile the maturation of tesla technology has allowed its use as anti vehicle weapons. Replacing the aging and inefficient plasma howitzers which had been the mainstay of the Sirano anti vehicular arsenal.

The Fleet

The "Scarrick" named after a Daeloth native species notable for ascending to the sky as it matures is the Sirano's first vessel in two thousand years. Mounting two Tesla heavy projectors on its dagger like frame. Inaccurate but capable of inflicting (light) damage on even Necron craft. At only half a kilometre long it is the size of a corvette and its superstructure, constructed of plastic composites and titanium, renders it fragile when placed alongside imperial escorts of similar size. The shielding that it mounts is sufficient to defend against interstellar debris but is ineffective against any significant real ordinance. Finally the warp drive, echoing designs of the ancient past allows rapid but risky faster than light travel. A fair first effort to be put into space but one which was quickly outshone by future designs

The "serrated edge" is the most recent ship in the Sirano's fleet, and like the forces on the ground it shows centuries of development over the course of mere decades. As the first of the Sirano's light cruisers, it stretched the limited industrial capabilities of the young race. However, it now proudly stands in defense of the system and as the flagship of their tiny fleet. Tesla batteries line the avian wings of the craft, each individual cannon equal in power to those mounted on the "Scarrick" but far more sophisticated and accurate. This gives it an extremely formidable forward firepower arc even if the other facings remain relatively undefended. The shielding systems are also far more robust and capable of absorbing far more punishment, featuring a multi layered design of regenerating plasma shielding. Individual layers falling to hopefully be restored before the last layer is penetrated, only made possible by improvements in both shielding and reactor technology. Finally the warp based drive system has been replaced by the currently far slower but much more reliable cascade drive.

Changes in Sirano society
As technological advances envelop Sirano society, seismic shifts have occurred at every level. Vast numbers of Sirano are rendered unemployable by expeditious improvements in manufacturing and agriculture, with many clerical and administrative duties also being streamlined and replaced by complex canoptic inspired programs, capable of outperforming purely biological creatures in any task requiring rote activities. An economy where increasingly the only way to remain competitive is to undergo extensive modification, both biological and mechanical. These developments have resulted in unprecedented economic prosperity for the Sirano, but also caused a growing issue in unemployment as increasingly few Sirano are required or able to maintain that prosperity. A rising problem as Jornakh begins focusing policy on increasing the birthrate of his charges to fuel and ever growing war machine. learning from the early history of the Necrontyr Jornakh anticipated the effect of such a massive disruption to the social stability of the young race, and implemented numerous measures to soften the blow of industrial work falling largely into the hands of machines and automatons. His primary solution being as necessary now as it was in the war in heaven, military service.

The massive recruitment drives to provide fresh bodies for the grand legions would be impossible without this social upheaval. Each twenty five million strong, and coming with the promise of settling rites on new worlds. Many young Sirano saw and took the opportunity for future prosperity promised by their new charismatic overlord. As with many of Jornakhs plans, this appears to serve multiple purposes. More than simply driving massive colonisation waves to Duat and Telgu, veteran legions returning to the system were allowed to keep their equipment. granting the newly settled worlds a capable and near professional militia should it ever be placed under threat of attack.

Increasingly, however, your taps within the datasphere are beginning to pick up on growing discontent in the Sirano. Their lords hold onto the majority of the wealth generated by their increasing prosperity and only allow a small portion to fall to the masses, whose numbers and needs multiply by the decade. Even with the release valve of military service and other worlds to colonies there seem to be limits to what this populace is willing to accept. Though the discontent is focused on the nobility and not the young lord, time will tell if Jornakh is able to maintain the stability he has so far managed.

Even some of your own advisors wonder and talk of the society that Jornakh is building. One whose stability seems reliant on constant expansion and your own subsidies to remain stable and viable.

well...our son is going to learn that the constant expansion and subsids aren't going to work In the long run...and lets hope it doesn't blow up too badly in his face, but it would give him some humility to learn as a lord needs to.

wow think first time I ever see necrons humbled technologically by a in universe non special snowflake race.

So we're basically building a puppet empire? While the Sirano are at the forefront and fighting our enemies, the Yulenoth hang back and watch from the shadows, growing in technology and understanding. In gaming terms, we influence the Sirano to play a wide build while the necrons play the tall build.

My question is did our necron scientist tell the cirano that they discovered something they dint already know or did the scientists pretend it was nothing new while swallowing their pride?

"You have done well."

Give away nothing.

As for sonny's empire...yeah, he's going short term gains, long term troubles at this rate. hopefully the lizard bois are going to survive the learning process.

wow think first time I ever see necrons humbled technologically by a in universe non special snowflake race.

is not the dream of any father to see his sons outgrow him and not longer need of him as protector, but rather be his peer?

in a similar manner, the sirano are being given space to grow and evolve and evnetually they will be equal allies rather than vassals
but the time for this hasnt yet come

that new FTL that cant be intercepted is awesome

remember what i suggested of ''deep space'' stations and migrant fleets?

well this seems to work

ships with 2 drives (inertialess drives for inside system, sirano FTL for outside) seems a good idea

it seems there is social problems,so eventually we will have to crackdown in nobles and tell them to let the wealth trickle down

on the other side, our necron lords can unironically understand the joy the old ones had for uplifting species :V

To be fair, rapid growth followed by a brief period of purging is very useful for us. Though it looks like the nobility of the Sirano is becoming more of a problem to be dealt with, then a asset. Remove the lower nobility and replace them with a Sirano meritocracy, giving the populace opportunity to become one of the wealthy elite?

transhuman lizard capitalists?

Unfortunately, while I do believe the Sirano industry and economy would benefit from such a thing (and us), our cultural ties would become more strained. Remember that we ourselves have a large nobility and the Sirano nobility would seek to capitalize on this similarity. By removing them, we would risk delegitimizing our own rule.
By removing the lower nobility, I hope to instead empower the Queens of said world. That should limit the taking off the top, and allow the wealth to be seen and taken by the capable. Furthermore, the Sirano are mortal so the positions of meritocratic wealth and power would be self regulating.

The new drive seems like the big advantage is being impossible to intercept. Very good for deep striking a target with overwhelming force without being possible to obstruct. No lines of engagement when on the offense.
If it was faster it'd be a beautiful raider doctrine.
