Apart from the whole breakdown thing, Isabella did do practically everything in her power to keep Henry from going.

Put a squad of loyal mage knights to hold Henry in his room - Nope! Square mage bullshit.
Put multiple squads between his chambers and the Throne room with orders to stop him - Nope! Square mage bullshit.
Royal Order Henry directly to stand down - Nope! Make me.
Order the entire room of Gallian military officers/mages to obey the Crown and arrest Henry. - Nope! Army is loyal to the Prince.

With all the avenues cut off, Isabella literally has no way of stopping Henry. Her forces are either too weak or disloyal and her own magical prowess is tiny compared to a couple in a generation Square mage.

And so Isabella gets to watch her beloved husband walk to his death, out to fight a force that all of the Kingdoms combined has NEVER been able to beat in warfare. She has no idea of his plans (Probably Fire Lamp Nukes) and probably thinks the last time she will see him will be him walking angrily away to die.

Pretty low key response all things considered.
Pointing out how incompetent both her leadership abilities and her plan to keep Henry contained were does not increase my sympathy in the slightest. And this is like the fifth time she's had a meltdown about not being able to protect Henry by stopping him. She needs to learn some pattern recognition.

A half-assed figurehead of a Queen who repeats the same mistakes without ever learning garners neither my respect nor my sympathy.

That's a good point actually.
The Elven council has no real reason to believe in Henry's intentions and have considerable historical evidence that the Human Kingdoms despise them, enough to attempt multiple wars of Genocide even when they were doomed to fail.

And now comes this high ranking Human Prince not only claiming to have a number of Void mages but also an army that is advancing technologically at an alarming rate.

Maybe they thought to launch a crippling first strike at the human kingdoms before they become too powerful and brutally murder every man, woman and child of elven descent.
on the other hand he claimed to already have the void nuke set up and ready to fire with only a day's notice, so an assassin would have made more sense than giving him time by openly invading.

unlesss ... it'd be mildly hilarious if this was supposed to be a diplomatic envoy group but the human army panicked

Considering Shade's pattern of instant angst-resolution in this story (going from Karin's bullshit, to Henrietta's bullshit, to Isabella's bullshit), that's probably what will happen.

Try thinking of her as a person rather than as a queen. You don't get special powers for being royalty (apart from the magic, which isn't relevant here). What faults do you have that would be magnified by pressure of a royal setting where every little decision can mean life or death for huge numbers of people? Personally I'd fail horribly. Oh sure I can sit here and dispassionately say what I think should be done here or there, but sit me down on a throne day in day out with no let up from the pressure and I'd just as likely crack like glass.

So yes, she's not perfect, but I think you're being a little harsh.

That...would be kinda stupid on the Elves' side. Why not send Bashamel Bidashal back to give a message of their response and if they wish to send a diplomatic envoy, tell Henry first so trivial mistakes like that can be avoided.

Well, he basically told the Elves "I have you all by the throat and could kill you. Also your Glorious Hero was the Gandalfr." And intimidated Bidashal.

Then he send Bidashal to talk with politicians. How he is oh so superior and wants to be gracious.

Basically imagine an African Ayatollah sending a congressman home to tell them Roosevelt wasn't Christian and to negotiate from a position of strength on his behalf.

It doesn't matter that the African Ayatollah is actually an enlightened scientist who sees that America is killing the oil reserves too fast with their insistence on cheap gasoline, politicians will put down the uncivilized barbarian to score with the masses.

Except Isabella is a reprehensible Marie Antoinette analogue who explicitly doesn't give a shit about the lives of the commoners she governs and is confirmed to have remorselessly murdered thousands of people for the Greater Good, Henry Edition. If her husband wasn't the MC failing to protect him would be nothing more than the end of a karma houdini streak.

Don't bother trying to change MinorGryph's mind. She's like this about pretty much everything in the story. I'm honestly not sure why she's even still reading it, since it seems to piss her off, so much.

Ah. I understand now. You simply hate her enough as person that you view absolutely everything she does as negatively as physically possible. Don't worry past experience has shown me, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that it would be completely and utterly pointless to speak with you about anything vaguely related to the object of your hatred.

In fact the only reason I am even putting my epiphany on the forum is to warn anyone else who may be tempted to converse with you on this subject.

Well, time to bring out the not-Soviet propaganda and try to get the entire populous mobilized into the war effort. That period of time has so many different speeches that can be ripped off to inspire the population since this is probably going to be a desperate defense without any surprise game changers.

"If you have not killed at least one Elf a day, you have wasted that day...
If you cannot kill your Elf with a bullet, kill him with your bayonet.
If there is calm on your part of the front, if you are waiting for the fighting, kill an Elf before combat.
If you leave an Elf alive, the Elf will hang a Gallian and rape a Gallian woman.
If you kill one Elf, kill another - there is nothing more amusing for us than a heap of Elven corpses.
Do not count days; do not count miles.
Count only the number of Elves you have killed.
Kill the Elf - this is your old mother's prayer.
Kill the Elf - this is what your children beseech you to do.
Kill the Elf - this is the cry of your Gallian earth.
Do not waver. Do not let up. Kill."

Uh, Killing all the Elves is bad. Using Nukes or similar things on them is also bad. The goal is to stop the animosity with the Elves, not slaughtering them. If he wanted to slaughter them he would have used the Genocide Spell.
