Somehow all this fluff is making Henry more assholish, its only Joseph and his trolling is what is putting Henry in place. I believe that Shade is subtly making us wish for angst.

Chapter One Hundred and Fifty-Seven
Chapter One Hundred and Fifty-Seven

The months had gone by, the tensions were there, but simmering softly, perhaps even ceasing with their boiling. The marriage of Princess Henrietta with Emperor Albrecht would take place in Windobona, the capital of Germania. It was going to be a great thing, and yet Isabella's health prevented her from participating. Since she couldn't deal with court due to her pregnancy, it fell up to me to either go, and have someone be a regent in the meantime, or stay behind, rekindle the fires of indignation, and yet deal with the troubles of Gallia.

My wife was, by herself, torn. On one side, not going was a scandalous affair. On the other, going and leaving her behind was definitely not something she wished. Yet she couldn't just go, not when there were risks the baby would be born midway during the trip, be it in going or returning. So, Isabella definitely couldn't go, and she also definitely couldn't let me not go, but at the same time she didn't want me to go.

It was quite the conundrum.

"My Henry, please don't start any wars," she said from the bed, myself sitting on a chair by her side. "If you do not know what to say, then say nothing but smile and nod. Though he calls himself an Emperor, he has no more authority over you than I, and if you do bow, bow just a little as thanks for the hospitality and because he is foreign royalty. They might say something about how the war was handled, but please do not overtly praise your men while doing so. If they wish to make deals, tell them it is up to me, and you will simply refer them-" Isabella's hands were clasping mine, "And be back soon, as soon as possible. Don't linger for the festivities. Only watch the proceedings, the marriage feast itself, and then leave as soon as you have given your blessings to the Emperor and his wife."

I nodded. "Yes dear, I will," I acquiesced. "I'll be bringing twice the normal amount of men as an escort-I sincerely doubt they will try anything however," I kissed the back of her hands, "Try to stay calm, and not worry too much."

Isabella chuckled. "How can I not worry? Just be quick," she muttered. "I want you here when he comes."

"You're so convinced it's going to be a boy?" I quipped back.

"Of course, a small cute little Henry to snuggle whenever I wish," Isabella said with a huff, "Nothing less would suffice."

"And if it were a little Isabella, what then?" I remarked. "Not cuddly enough?"

Isabella sighed, "I'm sure she would be cuddly too, but I prefer myself a little Henry."

I nodded. "Then I'll return on my manticore's back. It should get me here faster than if I go with a carriage. I'll suffer some discomfort with my knights, but it should be doable."

Isabella's eyes wet themselves with tears. "You would do such a thing?" she muttered, "Oh, my beloved-please, keep yourself safe and return to me as fast as possible!"

I gave her a gentle kiss, and then nodded as I stood up. "You have nothing to worry about, Isabella."

I least of them all, since I was pretty sure the Elemental Siblings would be a part of my escort, if secretly at that. The departure from Lutece was accompanied with a bit of a fanfare, the knights standing on their dragons following dutifully by the sides and in front of the carriage I was in, and as I sighed and closed the curtains of my carriage, I also closed my eyes.

"Raven?" I murmured, Raven's vision sharing itself with me. "How fares the situation?"

Raven's eyes showed me the vast fields of Gallia stretch beneath him, my carriage and my knights walking ahead without a care in the world. A few handpicked servants followed in a carriage behind us, and the familiar dark pink color of Jeannette's hair was noticeable under the typical maid head-wear. A young faced blond-haired boy was wearing a butler outfit, and a tall dark-skinned man with angry red tattoos was apparently wearing a similar outfit, if with a clear comedic telling when put next to the blond child. Bleu was among the members of the escort team, a knight recently minted into such a prestigious position.

Crows followed the trail of Raven, standing in formations as they flapped their wings to keep up with the lazy flaps of Raven himself.

"Skies are clear," Raven cawed. "The weather is beautiful," he added. "No troubles ahead."

I hummed pleasantly. "Henry," Raven said suddenly, catching my attention. "What happens now?"

"What do you mean?" I acquiesced. "Louise's already doing her second year, so-she..."

I belatedly realized she wasn't going to summon Agnes, since she was already her summoned creature. "Uh, that's not going to end well for her reputation, is it?" I winced.

"Do you want me to go shank a few kids?" Raven asked, quite nicely too. I clasped my fingers together and gently shook my head.

"I'll visit her another day, just to see how she's doing," I mumbled. "But now...tell me about the latest developments."

Raven cawed twice, and a few crows spread their wings as they drew closer. A swift exchange of caws later, and Raven let them go. "The Windalfr is on the move. Though he commands the animals, he cannot make them speak-nor understand them." Raven crooned. "He won't be able to learn anything from the Murder Network."

I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Why not the Crow Network?"

"Because I like the word murder, Henry," Raven harrumphed. "Through the seven gates of hell, my decision is unshakable. Thus I dub them, my Murder Network." He nodded most primly even while at such a high altitude, and I couldn't help but sigh.

"It was a mistake to explain Chuuni to you," I drawled, "A really big mistake."

Raven stuck his tongue out, and then flapped his wings a bit faster, increasing his speed as he scouted ahead. "I am the wind made manifest! I am fluff given form!" Raven cawed happily. "I am the darkness, and the light! The transcendent beautiful Raven!" I pinched the bridge of my nose as Raven kept sharing his sight and voice, he cackled as he made a pirouette in mid-air, the rest of the crows following him doing the same, laughing in turn.

Was I bringing my familiar and some of his spies to explore Germania, or a gaggle of schoolchildren?

I calmly massaged my face with the palm of my hand.

No words could express my current mood.

No. Words.

Raven stuck his tongue out, and then flapped his wings a bit faster, increasing his speed as he scouted ahead. "I am the terror that flaps in the night!" Raven cawed happily. "I am the darkness, and the light! I am the transcendent beautiful Raven!" I pinched the bridge of my nose as Raven kept sharing his sight and voice, he cackled as he made a pirouette in mid-air, the rest of the crows following him doing the same, laughing in turn.
FTFY, now it rhymes.

I am honestly surprised. My omake got in excess of thirty rates? And Shade threadmarked it?
I- I have no words, because when I try to utter them they come out "My sempai noticed me! *squee*"
This, a new chapter, and a new omake were wonderful things to wake up to. Thank you, everyone, my day has now been made.
:)

I think Isabella is going to be lke the mother of the main antaginist in fruits basket. She got jealous of her daughter (even as a baby) that she raised her as a man and even tried to kill her.

On the windalfr raven hack - raven just needs o tun human then the magic will wear off. Thats what happened with illcocco... At least thats what i remember from znt Back to Basics...

Just had a random thought, what if in order to prevent Wales from killing himself Tiffanias demands his service as a familiar in exchange for forgiveness
