So, at this rate, how long until Raven out grows Freedom and becomes Henry's mount of choice. Not only would he be a fluffy bundle of joy and feathers, but with a beak and talons of that size, he would also be properly terrifying.

Think Raven's going to be as big as the crow in Dark Souls? He's already bigger than Tiffania here, and as tall as Mathilda. Just where exactly the familiar summoning ritual took this bird from?

And 3/4 void mages acquired. The deck is firmly stacked against future Pope Vittorio... sure would be a shame if one of the Void artifacts gave him exactly the spell he needed to get back in the game. Come to think of it until Henry hunts those artifacts down his Void mages are only useful as hostages instead of trump cards.
"No!" he yelled. "Master loves me! And I love master! He said to wait for you here!" he cawed, "Master is really smart! And hugs me lots! And tells me everything! He wants you to come with me!"
Keep this bird far, far away from the Windalfr.

Okay, it appears Henry's forces are powerful enough to quell thoughts of rebellion when he is there in person but he is also becoming unpopular enough to risk being assassinated... I think he is skilled enough to survive what they could conventionally throw at him. I do wonder what will happen if he clashes with any nobles who have comparable firepower.

The real danger now is that Joseph has gone crazy enough to fuck everything up. If Henry goes down for a week or so from poison or injuries, Joseph could plausibly torpedo the entire situation. The Josette letter update wasn't too cleverly disguised so its plausible that anyone who read the letter has figured out he's hiding someone.

Raven had indeed built himself a nest, and he was actually fending off the advances of a friendly crow that seemed to want to play with him more often than not.
Raven...how much did you grow while I wasn't looking? I hadn't bothered noticing it, but Raven was talking eye to eye with Mathilda. How had she not noticed him atop the rooftop then? Perhaps amidst the foliage, his dark plumage had hidden him, but still-
Any chance for there being a flashback or future reappearance of Raven's crowfriend?

I am feeling a bit lonely without your presence, even when surrounded by playmates and my cousin, I still find myself sincerely wishing you were back. I hope you will find that unfortunate child of uncle and auntie, and bring her back into the folds of the family of Gallia. Even though...even though, do you remember when you told me the story of the hunch-back? That passage, about the smile and the sorrowful loss of Esmeralda? How the nice bishop was cast aside, and the evil bishop had a change of heart and patted Quasimodo's shoulders? That piece right there, I'm afraid I can't remember what happened next. It's been such a long time.

I blinked.
Man, for an eleven year-old girl, Isabella plays The Game really well.

And yeah, she totally read Cattleya's letter. Charles comes forward about her missing daughter, while at the same time Catt just found a stray noble child? And the letter came in with a mysterious figurine? Isabella knows Henry's plot.
I do hope you'll find that poor girl, though! When you do, please keep an eye on her. She'll definitely be scared, and worried, and who knows what might have been told to her by whoever was despicable enough to kidnap such a young child! Why! Such evil!
What's also nice is that with Henry's care and influence, Isabella (apparently) has remained an empathetic girl, not only caring about Helene but her twin sister too that she had never even met.

Thus the warning and her suspicions.
Jean-Jacques and I are getting married later next year!

I very slowly stood up from my desk, and proceeded to the wine cabinet. The servant by the side of it didn't as much as move, the gaze in my eyes enough to make him freeze on his tracks. I grabbed the bottle, uncorked it, and the sat back down behind the desk.

I took a very deep swill of it.
A very reasonable request.

Also, Wardes definitely would not want to go against Henry now or break Cattleya's heart. Not when his friend and brother-in-law is the fuckmothering marshal of Gallia.
"Here," she mumbled, "This is the place the villagers talked of-" she turned towards what could only be Tiffania, a large hat that easily covered most of her face, not even a hint of hair emerging from it. "For a cursed house-" Raven, did you do something? No forthcoming answer, but it was clear that Raven was hiding something. Perhaps he had scared some kids away with his voice, which was highly possible.
More like scared the everloving shit out of the nearby villagers. Revan probably learned how to throw his voice too.
"No!" Raven cawed. "Master works for love and hugs!" I blinked at that sudden exclamation. "Master loves happy people! He loves helping people! He's the best master there is!" he hopped a bit closer. "You need a hug! You want a hug?"

Mathilda's eyes seemed kind of a mix between shocked out of her wits, and scared senseless. "I want a hug," Tiffania said, childishly stepping forward only for Raven's wings to surround her frame and-

Wait a minute.

Surround her frame?

Raven...how much did you grow while I wasn't looking? I hadn't bothered noticing it, but Raven was talking eye to eye with Mathilda. How had she not noticed him atop the rooftop then? Perhaps amidst the foliage, his dark plumage had hidden him, but still-
Whooohoo! And this is at what? 4, 5 years old? Yeah, by the day canon starts, Henry would definitely be riding Raven by then.
Now, to put this apparently innocuous figurine hidden in my pouch among the children born eaten by a minotaur or an orc...and then, obviously, make this hunt end.
Clever. The news would break Charles' and his family's heart, but at least he would not be forced by peer or tradition to harm Josette, or have her turned into their pawn in The Game.
Now, once I got Mathilda and Tiffania safely within the fief of La Blois-father would take care of that.

He owed me for the hippogriff, so, rather than buying me one, he'd take care of those two and keep silent.

The official excuse?

I needed a fallen noble to take care of the coffee plants I had left behind.

Decadence, the number one excuse for why a noble would hire foreigners, and which nobody bothered to even check about.
And the location of Henry's man cave, IRC, was remote enough that people would not be poking around and see Tiffania.

Definitely Dark Souls. And listening at Snuggly the crow's videos, it's my head-canon for Raven's voice now.

"You, you! Give me, warm! Give me, soft!"
And 3/4 void mages acquired.
Actually, it's two void mages, plus one potential void mage. Josette gets the slot if Joseph bites it.

a new holy relic she had to never remove
What would that be? Some shapeshifting trinket? If so, dying her hair would be to make sure.

Keep this bird far, far away from the Windalfr.
This guy has a point. I don't remember, could Windalfr control Rhyme dragons ? (since they are human level intelligence, not some beast). If yes, could he make Raven talk all he knows? That would be extremely bad, with all the shady (heh) stuff Henry had him do.

She's older than that. They married when she was 12 and Henry would have finished the academy if he had continued to go there. She would probably be 15 by now. Since Henry is 20 or so.

The other nobles will wonder what happened with his familiar. He's gone for a while, come backs as a giant. Probably puberty but people will wonder.

I also wonder who will be the Voids familiars. They are supposed to be the best suited to the mage or something like that. With all the butterflies that could change a lot.
Henry gets summoned 3 times and wonder how it came to that. OTOH, all the powers.

And once more I must applaud you Shadenight. Once more do you tear from the world its fate and instill upon it your own.

I am mildly surprised you have not taken the name Odin in some manner or another, or spent 9 days in a tree.

Unless, would you care to share the Nom de plume dear Henry has taken for himself?

Hm, does time Raven spent in a tree count for him? Questions for another time.

She found a stray, nobody ever said it was a child. Stray dogs and cats are perfectly fitting in with Cattleya's rep as animal snuggler.
