This quest is a lot of fun, I love the world building! Is it even possible to complete all the objectives? I guess if we get perfect rolls.
I think they're going to outrun us handily in a straight line so the wipe-out and 50% losses objectives are going to be a struggle since they can just disengage, but I bet we're early enough in the conflict that the I-16's handling will still be a surprise so I have faith in us preventing them from achieving their objectives and getting at least one of them. The bit that's going to be all on the dice luck, and the determining factor in whether this is a win or a loss for us, is whether we can keep all of our friendlies alive.

lovely grey and black dress in the latest constructivist style
Ooh, character art! That's always fun.

I'm looking forward to the first dogfight that we're actually prepared for.

Oh, also, IRL we're a little bit past the 100th anniversary of the Limerick Soviet (wikipedia, podcast). Since it occurred after the Point of Divergence, I'm wondering if it was more successful in this timeline.

Oh well that's canon now.

So, we've got an independent, socialist Ireland, probably heavilly influenced by the ideas of people like James Connolly? I love it!

This may or may not be the optimal choice but it's darn sure the most potentially entertaining.

We're likely to be able to out-turn them, let's just get on their tail and stick there forever (using Tables Have Turned to get back as needed).

The concern I'd have is that they dive and outrun us, and then get their energy fighting on. Surprise might let us get closest.

True, but making them burn altitude early still seems beneficial, since it's unlikely they won't end up pulling that at some point regardless of our positioning.

@open_sketchbook do you have any in-thread rules for omakes if I wanted to write up a side story about the WIF?

Nah go for it. Just remember the setting conceits: authoritarianism, racism, sexism, etc all fell down the stairs in the 20s, early 30s at most. Decolonization is full speed ahead, everything is cool and queer.

Fell down the stairs into the basement where the incinerator is, I presume?
