[X] [SCARLOC] Swallow your pride and tell him he did a good job

[X] [PLAN] Plan: Rotate and March
- [X] Order De Jonge Bokken to replace the Irongulls on the left flank of the formation; order the Irongulls to replace De Jonge Bokken as the rearguard.
-- [X] Speak personally with the former second-in-command, now leader, of the Irongulls.
- [X] During the march, inform Valahuir of the Chimera and the likelihood that, if it appears, the Fireclaws will need to coordinate with Aramil to kill it.

The Lore of High Magic that she can't cast?
Touche but I don't think Fanriel would be willing to lose classical Asur beauty to the side effects of Lore of Hag. Seriously, whoever created that magic in the past must have been a really petty granny who's being jealous of the good looks of Kislevite women and inflicts this on them while making it essential to defend Kislev from threats in the cold north where Norscans and Chaos Warriors live there.

A case of "If I can't have it, then no one can!"

No, though you could perhaps get a loan.
A potential loan could be useful if the interest isn't too high and we aren't required to put any collateral. The biggest issue we have with taking loans right now is that the only collateral we have that's valuable enough to secure a worthwhile loan is the Silverine Plate or Lightfang, and we need those too much for our missions in order to have them put aside as collateral for a loan.

We could also write down our spellbook and use that as collateral, i am sure it could fetch quite the sum in Marienburg.

A spellbook written by a Loremaster must be basicaly impossible to find in any other way in the Old World.

We don't need a loan right now.

Fanriel is making it work so far and so long as we have enough cash to pay our troops, hire new ones and have some extra on hand for other expenses, we are doing just fine. The thought of owing money to a human merchant/bank/whatever must be a bit disquieting for her.

I agree, i wouldn't want to take a loan either, i was just giving Imperious a suggestion.

Another thought for the favor: @Blackout, would borrowing some experienced troops from the Bokken for a mission or two to be an experienced core to train our own green recruits around be within acceptable parameters? For MOST merc companies I imagine it might be too "creating your own competitor" but 'based in marienburg' vs 'based in kislev/ostland's border with kislev' seems like JUST on the border of acceptable.

Not for a Minor favour.

This is fun- Grand Cathay is coming to tabletop for The Old World.

Bring harmony to the Old World with the armies of Grand Cathay - Warhammer Community

Fight under the banner of the Celestial Dragon Emperor.

The models look cool, though I'm not a fan of them shoehorning Cathay into sending an expedition into the Old World, led by the Dragon Sibling in charge of Cathay's defences no less. Miao Ying has no business abandoning the Great Wall to gallivant in the Old World.

The realistic alternative: this is where Shen-Zoo went.

The funny alternative: Yin-Yin decided that that expedition needed a second try with proper supervision, went even further off course and ended up in Westerland.

A spell book is a bit problematic as collateral because its value is in the knowledge in it, which means that someone could retain all the value in it by just copying what's written in it and than sell the copies of our spell book to who ever wishes it. A theoretical creditor who took our spell book into safe keeping would probably hastily end up copying it and selling the copies to potential buyers, making it lose value as well as loremaster penned spell books suddenly become a lot more common.

The simplest form of collateral would be some form or land or real estate, like if we buy some house in Praag for the Lightfangs to stay in in case we move. A creditor wouldn't need to take it into their keeping for fear of us hiding it away and we could still make use of it even while it is being used as collateral.

Why is there talk of borrowing money? That sounds like a horrible idea.

Because while are better off than before, our budget is still pretty tight.

I think using the favor to hire them to fight for us would be a better idea, so we don't have to spend an action for recruitment in the near future and start with a solid core for our company, we can always dismiss them and start recruiting our own troops later.

How about using the favor to keep in touch with each other? Like a shearing a message pigeon

That could also be an option.

I wouldn't necessarily be against it depending on who the creditor is and what are the terms they're offering. Like if Razin were to come up to us and tell us that he would lend us 1,000 GP on the condition we paid him back 1,050 GP by the year's end I could see agreeing to it if we thought we could make the money back. If some loan shark came up to us with a 40% interest loan while demanding we give them one of our artifacts as collateral I'd tell them to take a hike.

Agreed. Lore wise it all makes no damn sense, especially considering that this is during the Time of Three Emperors.

It would put us under pressure, and even if we're better off than in the beginning, we're still not great. Even with a loan, it"s not guaranteed we would be able to pay it back. Furthermore, it risks taking more of our limited down time if we have to desperately find more cash. Let's at least gain one BM spell to make us more marketable.

So while I know this sounds stupid to say i don't know if Cathay line is meant to be going into the old world
