She thought about it, she really did. With whatever Astral had done for her, she would be able to involve herself in the thing, and really kick the guys in the balls. But in the end she reached for one of the normal wreaths, and let others move forward and pick the special ones.
Part of her burned at that caution. She was one to jump in and fight. But she was a young girl in a place where someone like Astral existed. A teen who could lift her up with one hand, and he struggled versus what they fought.
She was weak. And she hated it. But she knew how to dance that dance. How to step through life without being hurt too badly. She put on the wreath with bitter emotion, but she pushed that down and looked back at Astral.
The guy had one of those stick ones on. A bit of gold glinted at the center of it. Normally she would have discounted it, but with what she knew, she could spot the difference. Already the girls with the special wreaths were starting to circle around him. All of them had picked up drinks and were downing them far faster than was healthy for girls their size.
Astral found a cup thrust into his hand, and a girl on his lap as she watched. Faith frowned as a spike of jealousy hit her.
"Care to dance some?" Freddy moved into her view with a smarmy smile and a hand outstretched.
Faith looked up at him. She wanted to let how much she despised him loose, but she knew her own abilities and the plan. "I suppose." A fake smile, tilt the hip and move the hair. "My boyfriend seems a bit occupied."
"He's gonna get that a lot." Freddy laughed charmingly, and Faith was almost fooled. "We usually shoot for a lot of girls in these, but I think we overshot." The man gestured around as he pulled her onto the dance floor.
The music was slow at the moment, but it was already starting to pick up. Faith let the guy get up close as she glanced around. There were quite a few girls here actually. Usually it was the men that were outnumbered. "How'd you manage that?" There was a bit of curiosity there.
"Few connections, and looking in the right spot. But really a total accident this time." Freddy chuckled and pulled Faith into a simple dance. She noticed that his hands even kept in the right spot. "Might have to see about getting more men next time. Place like this should be fun for everyone."
The girl nodded. "I can dig that. "
"Glad." Freddy gave her a twirl and then stepped back. "Care for a drink?" He gestured to the bar.
The brunette scanned the area. Astral was at one of the tables, gently prying another girl off his body. He didn't even look tipsy, and noticed her glance with a nod. He had another cup in his hand and was sipping it with a stoic face. She could tell that he disliked it quite a bit.
"Maybe?" Faith didn't really want to. Alcohol was fun, but she honestly liked natural highs more.
"Oh, I want a dance instead!" A girl's voice from her shoulder made her jump and turn.
A tanned girl. Sparkly makeup and blue hair. Her eyes were a shade of brown almost red that glittered as she looked at Faith. Near perfect face, and white clothing wrapped around her body in a way that just bordered sultry. The grin though, that was what made Faith say yes. It was a wild grin of joy and entertainment. A party girl.
Faith gave a grin and a wave to the suddenly intrigued looking Freddy, and both of them skipped off, and back onto the dance floor.
The beat picked up, and Faith let herself go a bit wild. To her surprise the girl followed. For a few long minutes there was nothing but the dancing and adrenaline. Almost as good as grinding herself against a hunk, and she caught more than a few suddenly heated glances as the girl giggled and got touchy.
Yet not touchy. That was what let her continue. She implied. She swayed and teased everyone watching. The blue hair whipped around, and at one point tangled with Faith for a few perilous seconds. But it was all play. A joy Faith hadn't even known she could have.
She almost lost track of time in that dance. But then she caught sight of a rather sullen looking Astral almost glaring at one of the 'special' girls, and Faith decided she had to back him up somehow.
"Hey hey." The girl tugged her attention back, and she met those red-brown eyes. "Lets get a few drinks and pry the hussies off your boytoy."
"How do you...?" Faith trailed off under the too knowing gaze.
The replying grin was far too knowing as the girl placed a finger on her dance partner's lips. It was strangely intimate. "I know you Faith. Better than you know yourself. You can call me Blue." She fluffed her hair and the moment was lost. "Like my hair, see!" Faith blinked as for once she was dragged along.
The drinks were incredibly easy to get, and soon Faith found herself on Astral's lap, the girl called Blue taking up the side she wasn't on. Drinks in her hand and his. Rather unsure, and frankly just a bit distrubed, the girl sipped at her drink. Then frowned.
"Lowest alcohol content here." Blue grinned at them both. "The little god's manipulations will keep back so long as you're drinking."
"Who is this?" Astral's eyes focused on Blue with an intensity that Faith knew from experience meant danger.
"An old friend of your new teacher." The blue haired girl looked around casually as she twirled her hair. "See, you got my attention. Or rather Faith did. She could never have her namesake. But she did believe in friends. So as a favor, I'm going to offer a deal." She sipped at the fruity concoction in her hand.
"A deal." Astral looked a hair's away from violence. "From an unknown..." He stopped and shook his head. Faith tilted her head and looked at him. That usually meant his 'patron' was saying something. "The Herald of War."
"Hmm. Right now I'm just Miss Party Girl." Blue's smile was both mischievous and dangerous at the same time. "Unless you want to see war?"
"What's the deal?" Faith interjected before things could get more dangerous.
"It's simple. I'm going to offer to change your fate Faith. You lack the faith for what Astral is doing. You have a destiny to be Called for something greater." The girl looked around lazily. No one was paying attention at the moment, but Faith knew that could change. "You probably know what. In March, it will happen. I'm offering to change that. You can become my handmaid. No faith needed. Just consider me a friend and helper. I will give you a hand when you fall down, and you just have to offer one to others. I am the blades raised in unison, the teams forged together, and the call for help answered."
Astral inhaled and exhaled. Faith could feel him do it from her position, and could feel his heart beating faster than normal. Half of what she said had made no sense to her, but something about it resonated just a bit. "That's a big offer from what I know."
"Oh yes." Blue bounced in place and frowned at her empty glass. "My friends aren't little buzz-saws, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun with it. Either way I'm fine with it really."
