Massive arenas and extravagant stages were created on the borders of the Mushroom Kingdom's territory in preparation for this world renowned event known as the Mario Party. This would be the 26th hosting of this sporting event and promised to be one of the most extravagant ones to date if nothing else. The participants had already been selected, the spectators had gathered to watch the game and the operators had prepared many things for both parties to challenge and enjoy themselves.

However, a threat on the integrity of the games was sent to the operators a week before the event's start. A warning that not all those that would be playing would be interested in the good sportsman nature of the game. The organizers frantically devised a solution into the fabric of the game itself that would hopefully improve the ratings. Each day during play the players would be allowed to observe each other and by majority vote eliminate who they believed was the least sportsman player ceasing their progression any further into the game and tarnishing their reputation. With actual stakes on the line in the form of reputation, ratings skyrocketed and the rewards for the victors became greater.

It had been a few years since the last Mario Party game was released a noticeably longer delay then normal, but that could easily be explained by the release of what will certainly be an amazing gaming technology, Full-Immersion VR. Nintendo with so many properties to choose from though oddly selected Mario Party 26 to be their first game to utilize the technology a choice most have found to be an odd one. Though when they revealed that the next game to be released was a Pokemon game most of the community became content with waiting, you and your friends were not content with waiting this was a brand new technology in gaming and even the friendly friendship breaker that is Mario Party was an amazing option. Gathering a number of your friends to play with you fall deep into the game selecting your characters and preparing for dominance.

This game is intended for 19 players, newer players will be given higher priority if we have more applicants than the intended number.

Rules
  • All roles will be randomly assigned.
  • The game will be separated into Day and Night phases. Each Day phase is 72 hours, each Night phase is 48 hours or when I get all the Night Actions. If you have an extremely good reason, I may give an extension.
    • The day may be ended early in the case of a 100% unanimous vote.
    • Day 1 will be only 48 hours.
  • Always always always post at least once per Day Phase! It'd be nice if you did it once every 24 hours.
  • Lynches happen at the end of the Day and are determined by the plurality of votes, not majority hammer.
    • Ties will result in a tiebreaker. The exact form of the tiebreaker is a mystery.
  • When you vote for someone, vote for them by like so: [x] Lynch [player name]. To rescind your vote, vote [x] Null.
  • Do not write illegible, hidden, or coded messages. Invisitext isn't as cute as you think it is.
  • DO NOT DISCUSS THE GAME WITH OTHER PLAYERS OUTSIDE THIS THREAD. Only talk to another player elsewhere if there is something in your role that allows it. If you're talking elsewhere, impersonating other players is not allowed.
  • DO NOT EDIT YOUR POSTS. If you gotta fix something, doublepost.
  • DO NOT DIRECTLY QUOTE YOUR ROLE PM'S. If you gotta mention it, paraphrase.
  • GM reserves the right to distribute information as they sees fit in response to attempts to use role card information itself as a verification method, at will. I suggest you don't.
  • When you die, you stop posting. The only exception is if you are lynched, in which case you get one final post.
  • If you've got a question, or you're confused about something, ask me.
  • Finally, do not act against the spirit of the game. This is a nebulous term, but includes such things as "Taking your ball and going home". Always keep fighting for yourself, always be trying to win. Don't give up, basically.

Rules shamelessly stolen from @Terrabrand. With very minimal changes.

Day 1 Start: New Beginnings Among Known Strangers
Fireworks soar into the sky and burst into a vibrant cacophony of sound and color as all participants are brought into the first arena. It seems not a single seat is left empty in the stands, denizens of the world of all shapes and sizes gathered together, each with favorites to win and lose this event. The announcer, a member of the Lakitu species, floats down from the sky distinguished as a unique individual with a checker patterned scarf, triangular shades, and a proper sprout of coarse black hair.

"Welcome one and all, we have quite a spectacle prepared for you all over these next few days. Days filled with terrific triumph and disdainful defeats. Tales of weal and woe are weaved into this championship and only one can truly acquire the ultimate reward in the end." The Lakitu raises their hands into the sky as a dazzling Solarflare Star descends from the heavens themselves and illuminates the entire stadium in a burnt gold hue. Hovering only a paltry distance above the Lakitu's hands. "But a reward such as this is coveted by the daring and dastardly in equal measure. Those that wish to attain victory with honor are met with those that believe dishonor is their only option to win this event and thus we shall begin the games not at the first event, but now!" The Announcer claps their hands and the Solarflare star turns the world into texture-less white void and when the world returns to you the star is gone.

You look around and you are certain you know who all these people are, you know they are familiar, but you don't remember their names or pasts, only that they are competitors and that some of you have ulterior motives.

"Let the first elimination of the one deemed most likely to be unsportsmanlike begin now!" Bellows the Lakitu announcer.

Day One has now begun. You have 48 hours from this post until day's end.

Day 1 Final Stretch Warning
The announcer continues to watch bemused by the spectacle that continues before them. The crowd watches with endless anticipation unaware of the scope of the announcer's meddling into the minds of the participants.

Speakers blare to life the voice of the Lakitu blaring through.
"Let it be known that @Winged Cat is currently selected as the least sportsman of the candidates at 4 votes. And that @Letmebefree, @MedievalParadox, and @Rikimaru trail them at 2 votes each. Their are only 12 hours remaining in this decision."

Day 1 End/Night 1 Start: The Fall of a Hero
Neither the crowd or players were prepared for the event to begin during this opening ceremony, but despite the odd feelings in the backs of all their heads they began discussion. A figure clad in green with overalls draws the ire of the players much to the audience's confusion. However as the clock ticks on their ire fades and others are found wanting and suspect. Words were shared and as the deadline for a decision raced towards a close, he who had drew the other player's ire in the early parts of the competition found himself suddenly the one to be eliminated yet again.

The Lakitu once again descended from the now a darkening turquoise sky, floating beside the podium in the center of the arena beckoning forth @Winged Cat the plumber to the stage, allowing them a chance to speak their mind before being exiled from the gaming grounds, the crowd grew quiet heeding every word of the who they found once a noble hero, and when their speech concluded the grounds were still with silence for what felt like hours despite being only a few minutes.

That silence was broken by the announcer who took to the podium, "And with those words Luigi, has been eliminated from the games for unsportsmanlike conduct, well to be more precise expected of such vitriol. What could be their motive for such dastardly ideas and whims? We may never truly know that inquiry, but with one of this kingdom's great heroes the first to go this certainly will continue to be an event to be remembered for years! Hero's out for themselves? Is this a new development or has Luigi always been a liar and cheat? Has he tricked us into loving him?"

The crowd roars into a chant of, "Lying Luigi," venom in their voices their love of a hero tarnished, be it because of lost gambling bets or a sudden ire for the hero. Many objects are pelted at Luigi from the crowd as the other players are ushered out to their residences before the first proper game was to occur. Luigi ascends hoisted up by a different Lakitu's fishing rod dripping fruit as they are carried to location unknown.

Luigi a PC has been Exiled for Unsportsmanlike Conduct.

Night One has begun. You have 48 hours from this post until day's end.

Game Ruling: Clarity in All Things
There are some things that are important for the integrity of the game as a whole. The rules are clear, but how one should arbitrate their violations are not, it is subjective of what would be a just punishment for any violation.

A player has deleted a post, a post made after the falling of night and thus a bar on posting in thread. I know that others have laid their eyes on the post and thus the only fair thing to do is to share the post with everyone and remind everyone to not delete or edit posts in the future AND to not post after night fall unless given explicit permission to do so.

@Archeo Lumiere had made a post reading
Sabotage Nictis

Seriously, fuck, that was going so well too.

You have received a warning for these actions, as I believe that to be punishment enough. Everyone please continue with the game.

Night 1 End/Day 2 Start: The Hunt for Ancients
The sun rises the following morning and all competitors gather together, well all but one @Archeo Lumiere. The games are postponed for a half hour waiting for their appearance, but they fail to appear, as a result they have been eliminated from the games for not being present to participate. Later in the day it was announced that they had been coated in rubber cement and were unable to leave their residence.

Waluigi a PC has been Sabotaged.

With the delay of a half hour passed the games would continue, the stadium though was certainly different then yesterday's. As today a large sandpit had been dug and filled with swaying Pokeys and dancing Fire Snakes. Yet it was cordoned off with ropes like a boxing ring, with only two entrances with a shovel laying at the stoop of each gate, this didn't seem like a challenge for the group whatever it was.

"Welcome back players today we have a special treat for our audience by demand from on high two individuals have been selected to battle it out for the first event, @Broken Base and @Terrabrand, they will fight off the inhabitants of this here 'Portable Desert' shoveling for a treasure buried beneath these ancient sands! A treasure claimed to be older than the Mushroom Kingdom itself! What wonders await our soon to be weary competitors as they search for victory in this first challenge?" The Announcer pauses as a wave of applause rolls through the spectator seats.

"Now step right up you two and collect your gear," restarts the announcer, "As only you two are participating in today's festivities you are the only individuals that can be caught in any act of unsportsmanlike conduct today, but everyone still has their voice even if they are not playing." The Lakitu looks over a card stashed in his scarf and his eyes squint at it, "Seems I have nothing further to read on this matter please begin, let the Hunt for Ancients begin!"

A Duel Event has been started: which means for this day phase the only players that can be voted to be Lynched are @Broken Base and @Terrabrand. Votes for any other players will not be counted.

Day 2 has begun. You have 72 hours from this post until day's end.

Day 2 End/Night 2 Start: Distinguished and Disheveled
The competitors gather around the perimeter of the portable desert keeping their eyes keenly on both @Terrabrand and @Broken Base as they dodge the denizens of this arena whilst still shoveling for their prize and victory. You all watch intent to spot any suspicious actions either may make to gain an advantage one great enough that wasn't just a cunning strategy for success. Yet as the hours drag on and the duelists find themselves falling deeper into the earth the group doesn't notice anything strong enough to send a player packing.

The day drags on the sun setting lower and lower people apparently begin talking about themselves to pass the time as both competitors are too far gone to be thought about until suddenly one of the competitor's digging holes glow with light. Everyone lurches forth unaware of whose tunnel the light was coming from and with one massive huff a treasure chest is flung onto the surface a disheveled Broken Base clawing their way up right afterward as the crowd cheers. Hearing the commotion a ragged Terrabrand returns to the surface breathing heavy and frustrated by losing but glad that the match was over.

"Congrats Broken Base, you have emerged victorious in the first event of this competition! Such a success will surely improve your chances to win the Solarflare Star in the end. This cacophonous crowd continues to applaud both of your efforts this day! We shall hold onto this chest and return it to you at the end of the competition. Now let everyone return to their homes and rest. For yet another day of excitement tomorrow!" This Lakitu's smile is somewhat sinister as they eye the chest, but no one has the ability to respond to them.

Sorry this took so long, I hit a mood where I just didn't want to write.

Night 2 End/Day 3 Start: The Race for Truths
The sun continues to ascend as it always does all the competitors gather together. Everyone that made it to day 2 once again appears ready for day 3 and whatever challenges and tribulations face them.

Starting at the proper start time today the Lakitu descends from the cloud cover floating above something hidden with large red curtains. With a boisterous smile scrawled across their face they begin to announce, "Welcome back everyone, both our astounding audience and our courageous competitors! Without each and everyone of you this event would mean nothing, but we're here just to discover the best of the best. And the games certainly have slowed considerably it seems. So we shall speed things up a bit." They raise their hands as the curtains rise into the sky through the use of Lakitu fishing rods. Revealing what appears much like a diorama of a convoluted race track running around and through an overgrown mansion with what appears to be an astronomy tower.

Giant screens descend from the sky before the audience as a strange light flares from the announcers eyes as he swipes his hand over all of you and your competitors and you start to watch as the world around you seems to be growing! Wait no that is wrong you're all shrinking! Before each of you is a go kart seemingly individualized in color yet uniform in construction.

The announcer's voice reverberates through each of your ears taking on a lower cadence due to your size difference, "Today is a race, but not to a finish line to an answer to a question. Where is the Solarflare star hidden on this track? You may not go off the track in search of this answer though and to spice this up even further you will all be able to communicate with each other over comlinks in the helmet to communicate individuals most likely partaking in unsportsmanlike behavior and eliminate the TWO with the most votes at the end of the day."

The Lakitu withdrawls a card stashed within his scarf and begins to read something,
"Hello!!! I'm an NPC, using my night ability. NPCs totally exist and stuff! It looks like we're all Survivors, so please don't kill us. That's it, good bye!"
"And with that I have nothing further, please find your way to your vehicles and let the Race for Truths begin!"

A Double Event has been started: which means for this day phase the two players at the end of the day phase with the most votes will be lynched, instead of the one individual with the most votes.

Day 3 has begun. You have 72 hours from this post until day's end.
