[X] Oh that was just the Deadric prince we belong to showing his appreciation for how awesome we are! He must have found our contest very enjoyable to watch, and decided he wanted to join in. Shall we call it a draw?

I love ya Shiggy.....but WHAT THE DRAGONBORN MAN!

The silence is deafening on the way back to the inn, made worse by all the conversations you catch snatches of down the main road of Skingrad. People haggling over the price of vegetables. A young couple loudly proclaiming how deeply they're in love despite their parent's feud. A Khajiit purring through a negotiation with a tiny wood elf for a sparkling golden ring.

All of it reminds you that Morlia is stalking silently ahead of you, arms crossed and shoulders hunched up to her ears. To say she didn't take being dragged from the house well would be an understatement. You have to broach this silence somehow, lest one silly reference undo a whole week of hard work getting on Morlia's good side.

"Look Morlia," you start contritely, "we get you must be pissed and annoyed and angry and all those non-beneficial descriptive terms, but we can't help it!" You really can't, sometimes all it takes is one silly comment to start a landslide of 'bad decisions' though you seem to have avoided those so far. Much to your relief. Morlia makes a humphing sound but at least she's listening.

"You try having your own head stuffed with a dozen of voices not always in agreement, woman -though most agree on Diana being a huggable cute little thing!" You get another humph for your troubles. "The point is, we're still your ever-reliable defective Knight of Order, yours truly!"

"You're certainly defective." You almost miss Morlia's dry comment she says it so quietly. You'd smile if you could, talking is good! Talking is progress and progress is good.

"Besides, if we didn't lighten up the mood a bit, who would? It just happens we act like Daedra on drugs and make bizarre references no one can really understand, but you know we can be serious!" Morlia shakes her head, pony-tail swinging from side to side jauntily, with something like a laugh.

"Like... once a month. It's our quota, you know." You finish with the levity for now. "I really am sorry for scaring you back there." You finish and carefully, quickly wrap your arms around her. She freezes for a second, stiff as a board, before hesitantly curling one of her arms around yours.

"I'll forgive you, just this once." Morlia slowly leans her head against your breastplate to look up at your helm, searching for something on your blank faceplate. "Don't do it again."

"I can't promise anything, but I'll try to keep it in mind." You tell her seriously. She smiles a bit sadly and steps out of your hug.

Is it feel trip time? It is feel trip time!!!

Y'all can thank me for that ;) I accept payment in newborns' souls.

So, I liked it. Really liked the chapter, bonding time was a nice touch  and the contest... well, I'll get what we can, way I see it. I'm just grateful Kyrina ran with it as much as she did (even if she chickened out in the end! :p), and maybe, if we're lucky, Freyja will decide on a spur of the moment to go with us? We can only hope...

On other news, CHEESE! And Sheogorath, of course, but mostly CHEESE!

Brother Martin is back in Kvatch. We are in Skingrad.

[X] "Too far fair Freya, far too far, for fine folk fancy not such fearful follies. Let us miss madgod's machinations and mischief in our meeting of minds. I admit my alliteration is attenuating and ascribe your accidental aberration also to attenuation of abilities."
-[X] "Look, call it a draw?"
--[X] Try to pass it off as an ill-advised joke on her part, hoping that she will take the hint and do likewise, in public at least.
---[X] Tell her you'd like a word with her sometime about solving the spider situation, and to... Discuss the events of the competition.

[X] Unless Freya wants to speak now, rush Morlia upstairs to Diana, and give them an explanation, after quickly catching Diana up.
-[X] If she does want to speak now, bring her with us, and tell her that we believe Sheogorath spoke through her, and that we could explain more, if she doesn't mind getting mixed up in the affairs of Daedric Princes, and at least two evil cults that are or will be out for our blood.
--[X] If she elects to stick around, catch her up on events.
-[X] Tell them that it was revealed to you in a vision that Morlia's summons set in motion events in Oblivion, and seems to have been at least partially assisted by Sheogorath, the mad god. It was revealed to us in vision recently that most of the daedric princes were panicking over our arrival, fearing it to herald the true return of Jyggalag, save for Sheogorath, whose plan it seemed to be a part of. We suspect that much of the oddity surrounding our summons was a result of his interference.
--[X] Tell them that Sheogorath seemed to speak through Freya in our competition, sending a greeting and saying something about being summoned by Sulinus, who we know to be a conjuror of the Skingrad mage's guild. Tell them that we don't know what he is up to, but that it probably has something to do with interfering with Greymarch somehow. (Explain it again if necessary).
---[X] Advise them that this doesn't seem like something that we can safely ignore, as Sheogorath is one of the few Daedric princes not out for our blood. Tell Morlia that the decision is in her hands, but that we would advise either sending us to make contact with Sulinius or coming along.
----[X] Be completely earnest and serious.

[X] Apologise, saying that it only really sunk in on reflection that Mehrunes Dagon is likely going to send his mortal servants to try and kill us. He has a cult in cyrodil called the Mythic Dawn, which will try to assassinate the emperor in a few years, which will probably be the ones coming after us.

Do people think we should bring Freya up to speed and down the rabbit-hole? if so we could bring her in.

Added a section to my vote.

Truly the most important part of this vote.
Heh.

Provided we don't act serious too often, our unending cavalcade of shenanigans has given us the power to instantly impress the gravity of a situation on our companions merely by acting normal.

ACROBATICS

Sheogarath's Shenanigans
On the one hand that was Sheogorath! The temptation to burst out with a high pitched kettle whistle of a squee is strong. On the other hand that was Sheogorath, Prince of Madness making something of an appearance in the middle of Skingrad! That's not something you think the local population will take kindly to that.

You need to distract them and play it off as a joke. Now. "Too far fair Freya, far too far, for fine folk fancy not such fearful follies. Let us miss madgod's machinations and mischief in our meeting of minds. I admit my alliteration is attenuating and ascribe your accidental aberration also to attenuation of abilities." You say cheerily. "And, uh... let's call it a draw."

Freyja lowers her hand from her mouth and forces out a weak smile. "Done." Freyja says and sticks out her hand with the same level of finality as if she's giving you a salute. You take her hand and shake, firmly. The crowd in the inn erupts into noise at the very idea of a draw and who gets what money from which bets.

Distraction successful! You'd celebrate but, uh, Freyja seems to be trying to crush your gauntlet in her fingers. It's not working, obviously, but she's giving it a valiant attempt. She probably wants something.

"So... you want to know what just happened. Right?" You're no genius at human communication but you can work that out.

"Please." Freyja says through gritted teeth. You can't exactly blame her. If Sheogorath possessed you you would want to know what happened, after you got done squeeing anyway.

"Sure," just gotta collect Morlia to do all the explaining at once. "Oh, and there's some stuff about the spider issue I could..." Freyja glares at you, icy blue eyes piercing. "Okay... not interested right now, cool we can do that later." You mumble and fight your way through the crowd to Morlia.

"What was that?!" The elf hisses at you. "I know it wasn't a joke, not with you involved Fast."

"Upstairs." You direct quickly, all too aware that there are a lot of people who could hear something and get completely the wrong idea. Which would probably result in really bad things for everyone involved.

You hurry up the stairs, Morlia and Freyja on your heels, all clanking and grating. You raise your gauntlet to knock on Diana's door. She opens it before you can contact knuckles to wood. "I thought I heard you on the stairs."

"Didn't disturb you did I?" You ask, if you've aggravated her headache you'll never be able to forgive yourself.

"No, I'm feeling a lot better." Diana peeks around you and her eyebrows raise. "Uh... did I miss something?"

"Yeah, you could say that..."

When everyone's sat on the bed, or leaning against the nearest wall or piece of furniture you check the door's shut and start. Quickly relating the Knight of Order thing to Freyja so she's got roughly the same amount of information as Diana and Morlia. Once that's done you move on to what happened downstairs and the vision thing that you've been mulling over for the last couple of hours.

"So here's what I think's going on." You make deadly sure that your tone is utterly serious. You're speaking about Daedric Princes and they need respected. "When I got summoned I think Sheogorath might have gotten involved, which is how you got me rather than some boring orderly guy with no sense of humour."

"Yes you are infinitely preferable to that." Morlia mutters with a roll of her eyes.

"I'm not obsessed with Greymarching the world, much better than the other guy." Wait, you're getting distracted. Serious, serious face, serious business. "Anyway, downstairs I think that Sheogorath might have possessed Freyja for a couple of seconds to pass on a message to us. Which, given he's been watching me... us for a while now, makes sense."

"How do you know Sheogorath's been watching?" Diana asks, innocent as ever.

"I got a vision, I don't know how or why but it happened, and the Princes, all of them, were debating what to do about me. They think I'm going to awaken Jyggalag and start the Greymarch, which I don't want to do in case you're worried about that, so at least some of them, Dagon for sure, want to destroy me. Sanguine seemed pretty chill and Sheogorath seems to like me, from the little bit I saw of him."

"Then... Sheogorath mentioned Sullinus and summoning...." Morlia says slowly, brows furrowed and ears twitching a little as she thinks. "Why would the Prince of Madness...."

"I... don't know, alliteration probably isn't the best way to communicate." You admit. "I don't think it's safe to ignore it though." Not since a full blown Daedric Prince has gotten involved directly anyway.

"The Mad-god mentioned Sullinus by name, I'd think that's grounds enough for investigation." Freyja pushes herself off the wall.

"Hey wait, this is getting involved with the Princes and at least one, probably two, evil cult's trying to kill me and anyone I'm with." You warn her, tangling with the Mythic dawn is unlikely to go well for anyone here right now.

"So? This is going on in my city. I'm going to get to the bottom of it." Freyja leaves, door swinging shut after her.

This... got much longer than I intended. The updates have been doing that lately.... Weird.

[X] I don't think you quite get it this is not some jumped up bandits or a half asses cult , Multiple Daedric Princes are now gunning for me, This is Ever so slightly above your pay grade! Heck, the last time someone went up against a Daedra, wiped from existence! As of right now the only person who even stands A CHANCE of standing up to them is the Hero of Kavach(Hero with a capital H), and it is no where near time for him to show up!

-[X] "You're going into danger, you're going to need back-up! I don't think telling the other guards that you're investigating based on the advice of the Prince of Madness is going to go over well, so let me help!"
--[X] Try to explain just how dangerous the situation might be. This is potentially 'Hero of Kavatch vs Mythic Dawn' levels of dangerous here.
---[X] Plus it might help to have somebody investigate without the red tape of the law getting in the way... Wait, do you guys have tape?

[X] Investigate Sullinus your way
-[X] Keep in mind this is Sheogorath's advice. There's probably something fucky about the situation. Maybe Sullinus is innocent and it's his 6 month old baby or 90 year old mom summoning spiders? Anyways, try to be open minded.
