"Digging isn't so hard, we can bury him." You say firmly. You aren't going to be argued with about this. For once you feel unified about what to do next and there's nothing that you will let get in your way.
"Alright." Morlia nods. If you could smile you definitely would be. As it is you look around for somewhere suitable to dig a grave. Not a full six feet, probably, but something.
Just off the road, about four or five paces, you find a suitable site. It's screened by a line of moderately tall bushes so it's private. Quickly you mark out a six foot by three foot area that should be large enough and
get to work. After trying to dig with your sword, some of the weapons you got off the bandits and a couple of wide flatish branches you resort to hand. You're a giant spiky crystal suit of armour, there's not much that can beat the digging power of your hands.
You get down a respectable distance and inform Diana that it's ready. You pick up Thomas's body delicately and carry it to the grave. You place the body into the grave with care, face down at Diana's request, and she throws in the first handful of earth.
"Thank you Thomas, I'm sorry I wasn't a better friend or student. I-I'll never forget how you helped me." She whispers. "I-I..." she can't say more, tears falling down her cheeks in floods. Morlia puts an awkward hand on her shoulder, her eyes are moist too.
You fill in the grave. Soon there's just a slightly raised lump in the earth to indicate that anything's here at all. You grab a couple of branches and stick them into the soft earth.
Diana takes off her hood and wraps it around the tops of the branches.
In silence you head to Kvatch.
