[X] Take some time to spend with Igni and Soul each day
[X] Talk to Strength about your findings; maybe she wants to play a bit?
[X] The Seasons are doing something interesting, but you do not know what it is. But you want to know.
[X] EXP-Plan Its Ana's
-[X] Save it

Prefer to save for Ana at present. It's her XP after all.

Despite of how little you thought about it before, this is incredibly intimate. You read a little about how people share everything if they are married for life, but it is not really everything. This, though? You are about to let someone else into your own head, possibly for the rest of your life. No lies, no secrets... no nothing of that kind. Wait, is this kind of like marrying Ana?

Uh... no. It isn't.
Thats a very Rico train of thought until I think, the Eva interrupt.
Slowly but surely, the sensations you can feel from Ana increase in length and detail; a stray flash of hunger here, some bubbling excitement and worry there... it starts adding up. Your friend... sister? Soon-to-be sister? She squirms once in a while, each time your magic touches something that feels important and glides around it; something prods you back twice, but it does not stop you and accepts the embrace... though you feel something like... greed, maybe? It feels weird, but Ana herself does not seem to notice.
Huh, whats that...wonder if its the worm-form or the Hunger?

While Ana is busy being amused, you take note of deep green walls hidden behind the same furniture you have, as well as two beds that could not be more different; one is a simple white but has a big and fluffy blanket, the other is orange and loaded with stuffed animals. You also notice packed sweets strewn into the mass of fluff... how does anyone sleep in there?
That looks like ant bait!
Also Ana appears to have a Cuddle addiction.

She certainly seems a lot happier now that she's Connected.
And then you see it clearly, a spider. A spider the colour of Chi's skin. Then another... and more... and more. They slowly peel back and wander up her arm after separating from what looked and felt like normal skin before; your hearts beat in a fast, ugly rhythm as you watch with a mixture of morbid awe and horror. Below the cream-coloured spiders are red ones that also pass and so on...

There is only bleak, pale bones left once they are all gone. They are held together by thin strings of silk, the fingers slowly moving together to form a fist.

Chi sighs. "So yeah, that is the actual me. I turned into a spider swarm when I transformed. That", she notes while raising all five fingers, "is what is left of my original body. I used to have the flesh, but my spiders ate it over time."

You shiver over her resigned tone and the eery sight both, all four eyes drawn to the bare bones; this has not been what you expected here at all. However, you do kick yourself back into focus after a few moments of staring to return Chi's gaze. Understanding is written over her face. "It's okay to look... I was horrified about it, too. Took me a while to figure out I'm not human anymore, though... guess that's what happens when you grow up with an obsession for crawlies like I did."
Ah, No Longer Human body modifiers!

...going to be hard to give her hugs when half of us is freaking. And the other half is finding them cute.
Also puts the spider smashing in a new context.
So instead of actually answering at once, you take her hands, one per body. Chi's expression softens a little even before you speak: "I... I think it will be weird for a while, but I like you. You're a nice person, so I don't think I will care about this for long... um... as long as you don't tie me up and make me your lunch?"

It feels right to say this; getting used to one of your friends being a swarm of crawlies will take some time, but there is no need to be afraid or disgusted.

Chi barks out a laugh that quickly turns into giggles, grabbing your hands tightly; then she pulls you into a hug. "Oh, you're so precious... sure, deal. You don't look like you've got much meat on you anyway.... at least Sun doesn't. Aren't you a little chubby, Moon?"

You squeak when she pokes your side, then pout up at the spider-girl. "One of me liked gym class a lot more than the other. Besides, both of me are still completely healthy... and it's not my fault the food is so good here."
Moon getting a little thick.
Gotta get her more exercise!

Although it is not possible to run the entire way; well, one of you could do this, but not the other. You are soon out of breath and have to slow down. None of the others says anything, but they fall in line behind you very soon. Even the slime...
...seriously, take up some jogging!

Now that you know she is always watching all the people however, you start noticing the tiny webs in corners and small openings on your way. It feels a little weird... but you push the thought out of your mind. Chi would not give away anything about anyone without their permission.

Big Sister is Watching.

Harmonious Fragment
-Your life is one-sidedly linked to that of Primordial Sun and Primordial Moon; if either of them dies, so do you. Your mind is linked to theirs, being able to work in tandem and thus exceed regular boundaries. Any attempt to interrupt or shut down this Ability is redirected to their Two Minds Joined in Harmony.

Controlled Connection
-You can control the impulses you send to and receive from Sun and Moon; negates pain-backlash and emotional resonance.
Huh, unbreakable like Two Minds Joined in Harmony, but the death backlash is one way.

No synch bonus yet, I think that comes at the next level?
World Eater:
-Total EXP earned: 3,530
-EXP spent: 2,750
-Available EXP: 780

Sun/Moon:
-Total EXP earned: 9,413
-EXP spent: 9,330
-Available EXP: 83

New Tally:
-Total EXP earned: 12,943
-EXP spent: 12,080
-Available EXP: 863
Ana is substantially behind on XP spending, but looking at her sheet she has a lot more APT, so teaching her Skilled Dodge is a big help, especially if we raise her to Advanced Connection.

Advanced Connection
-Controlled Connection
-500 EXP
Replaces Controlled Connection and upgrades it

Complete Connection
-Advanced Connection
-950 EXP
Replaces Advanced Connection and upgrades it

Grand Devourer
-Prepare the Feast Level 15
-900 EXP
Strength in adversity is nice, but strength from weaklings is nicer

Overeating
-550 EXP
Increase regenerative effects from consuming enemies

Shedding Skin
-Powerful Skin Level 15
-1,000 EXP
??????????????????
Ana has some interesting options here.
We know what the Connections do of course. Advanced shares APT(she has six, we have 5, taking Advanced Connection means we have 11 APT to split into 2 Skilled Dodge/Parry and still have 1 APT each), allows Sync damage bonus.

Complete shares spells...which I have no idea how Prepare the Feast interacts with us but Rapid Digestion's going to be a doozy .

Grand Devourer looks like upping her caterpillar form's boosts. Shedding Skin is probably the ability to cut off damage at thresholds.

So vote changed to:

[X] Take some time to spend with Igni and Soul each day
[X] Talk to Strength about your findings; maybe she wants to play a bit?
[X] The Seasons are doing something interesting, but you do not know what it is. But you want to know.
[X] EXP-Plan Hook Ana Up More
-[X] World Eater - Advanced Connection - 500 EXP

Advanced Connection should be when we can transfer APT and adding Synch Attacks IIRC

Uh... pooling ApT starts at Complete Connection, with Absolute Connection being what allows to share Spells.

It is, if you actually try for it.
Half-assing that one will lead to failure.

After all, Celestial Ascendance is the most powerful Item in this Quest. Getting it will be harsh, but doable.
How should I put it: I have no doubts it can be reached still, as in we have the opportunity.

I have doubts we won't get sidetracked. So my current position is "abstain except for harmonious incorporation specifically", I won't vote for EXP for a while.

Though I won't discount the possibility of there being an opportunity for Harmonious Incorporation: The White Reaper, and the associated influx of spare EXP - in the late endgame. Who knows what that might bring?

So we saw from the fight with Nightmare Child that it's a big problem for us if an enemy can move to fast for us to see.

Should we ask one of the teachers how we can train to deal with that (how to train False High-Speed Combat, the ability to use raw skill to anticipate an enemy's actions)?

Alright, good enough for me. I want to see the triple sync attacks!
I'd say hold off. Storywise it makes more sense to me for Ana's tiers of Connection to progress gradually. I want to wait at least a day or two IC before upgrading to Advanced.

Also, rather than the attack synchronization, I think the sight sharing is the bigger benefit of Advanced Connection. That lets us do things like have Moon hide inside the Caterpillar's mouth and have her Scepter fly around and whack things that Eater can see. Or if we split the party during a battle.

Hiding within the mouth of a beeing that is always hungry doesnt seem like a good idea. Maybe if Ana is trained for such things and can control her swallowing reflex and dont forget her saliva. Nice Ideas but that would need at least quite a few days training. And about the false highspeed combat. If we cant keep up even predicting where an enemy is, is something that will work once or twice until the enemy understand what we do and can easely lure us into a trap.

Sry if I appear pessimistic on that part, but without a decent level of real combat-speed it will be nearly pointless if we can predict it. Or is there a spell/ability that let us do this without knowing the enemy? And that whole thing isnt just for offense, but for defense as well, otherwise the enemy just need to take us down faster.

But in general leveling a few things we have is most likely the right thing to do. Because until now acting was nearly every time better than reacting. (If we have us leveled up in a way we can try to force the enemy or mission into the way we want, even if we dont use all EXP for it, I somewhat recommend of leveling a few things.

False HSC.

Original - Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest! | Page 727

High Speed Combat (False) is one of the only personal abilities to have a False version, as opposed to weapon abilities. Veteran Magical Girls (and other combatants) can, with sufficient time and experience, develop a kind of sixth sense for what their opponent(s) will do and how the battle is going to progress, and in doing so allow them to fake much higher speed and reactions than they would nominally possess. The difference lies in that while False HSC can allow you to know exactly when and where the bullet will be, is doesn't let you actually watch it make its way there as sufficient levels of the True version would.

Well, yeah, obviously Ana would need to train to do that. I was listing things we could train to do, not things we should be capable of immediately.

As for the predicting thing, if it stops working after one or two hits, that means you have only somewhat got the hang of it but haven't actually mastered the skill yet. If you've truly gotten the hang of it, you'll be anticipating them trying to fake you out (unless faking people out like that is what they specialize in).

From what I understand, it's less guesswork and more Spider-Man's Spider Sense. And definitely similar to the "Eye of the Mind (True)" skill from the Nasuverse.

The entire point of High-Speed Combat (False) is that it lets you successfully fight against ridiculously fast people without actually having anything on your sheet that explicitly says that you can do so.

Over in CWMGQ, most of the Top 20 MGs do NOT have High-Speed Combat, but all the ones who don't can still use the false version to beat up people who are ridiculously fast. White Soul can even dodge rain without any ability related to dodging or HSC.

The only problem I see here is that it doesnt seem that anyone possess such a thing (at least no one showed such a thing and train us to do that is an entirely other point. I can see which way you want to go, but there are way too many "if´s" to be a safe way.

Sorry, I always forget...

here.

@Naron - Personalised Kyubey Is False HSC a thing here, using raw skill to anticipate enemies' actions without actually being able to track their movements?

Naron - Personalised Kyubey-Today at 8:51 AM

It can be.

Sorry, I always forget...

here.

It can doesnt mean there is AND it doesnt mean they know how to teach us this. With the last one lies the problem. It is even possible that there isnt an enemy which we need a better high speed combat than what we have now, if our other abiltys and dmg and defense are upgraded a bit more.

Narons post is rather evasive ... like always. I just give you things to consider. Mostly because you try/hope to get things from certain places which you/we dont know if they even have it or can teach us that. I just point that out, otherwise people will complain that this comes out of nowhere or such things, even when they are somewhat obvious.
I Dont mean it in a mean way, it is just a possibility that can happen and isnt that unliekly.

The thing about False HSC is that its not really something you can be taught. Someone can point you in the right direction, but the main thing is basically just "get really good at fighting by doing a fuck ton of fighting". You're training your intuition. Its not something you get quickly. Its something you get by being really, really experienced.

And that is the problem. We dont have that many fights and our girls are the more social type. It is more like hopefully we get that. i just hope we can avoid enemys who are too fast for us.

Putting some effort into it greatly increases the odds of it actually happening though, which in turn increases our odds of managing to save up that 15k. Since then its something the characters want IC.

I dont think we should even go for it. Like I said it is just the shiniest goodie, which would be the hell to get but then it would be really great. Even then I would go more for the other route, because my goal is no deaths until the End of this quest.

Regardless of the HSC thing, we need to get better at fighting in general, which means lots of sparing.

[x] Take some time to spend with Igni and Soul each day
[x] Go look for Sky and see how well her spars went
[x] The Seasons are doing something interesting, but you do not know what it is. But you want to know.
[x] EXP-Plan
-[x] Save it

Hmmm.

Gonna need a tiebreaker for two categories.
