Lesbian and Yuri Anime/TV/Novel/General Discussion Thread

Is there some FOX and CW network rights lock out?
Generally different studios have licensed the rights to make adaptations about different characters. That's why the Fantastic Four and X-Men (and until recently, Spiderman) can't appear in Marvel movies. Sony and Fox had the rights to make movies about the characters and wouldn't let them go.

She does not appear to be a redhead, so that's a strike against. I'm not familiar at all with her work. CW tends to operate like all its shows are teen dramas and cast really young, pretty people for everything.

Kate Kane in the current continuity was an Army cadet who got drummed out of West Point for being gay back when that was still a thing that happened. Not sure if they're going with that backstory in the TV show or not.

MC is an investigative reporter who gets invited to an academy of magic and monster-hunting, only to discover there's a lot of things about the world it either doesn't know or is outright hiding. She also discovers that her runaway mother was wrapped up in some messed-up business that comes back to haunt her. In the meantime, she's making good friends, as well as a couple girlfriends with their own problems. The author takes inspiration and elements from a lot of classical and urban fantasy series and manages to integrate them into a cohesive whole. And the multiple girlfriends thing? It's actually a well-written, well-handled polyamorous relationship, not Harem Fiction #24601.

I can recommend Heaven Will Be Mine, a visual novel from the makers of We Know the Devil. It follows one of three queer women in a war (that may not count as a war) fought with giant robots over the future of humanity in space.

It's not tragic, just to be clear. No dead lesbians, it's really cool, great dialogue, fascinating setting. Love the designs of the mechs, love the style of writing.

Is this the one that can be summarized as "disaster lesbians in space"? Because if so, I did hear some good things about it.

That is an excellent summary, yes. They are all disasters and they are all incredibly gay. They also end up in a polyamorous relationship no matter what ending you aim for, so no need to worry about that.

I've read the manga. The human main is all-but-outright-stated to be gay for the vampire main.

There's apparently some kinda moe ninja-spy thing coming out in the autumn that also apparently has hefty yuri subtext and maybe even text. It's also got a punny English name.

Release the Spyce.

We're also getting some of the first looks at our winter 2019 anime. Here's the two I've pulled from Yuri Nation which may have yuri content (subtext or otherwise).

Endro: No idea what it's about, but it's apparently based off a manga by the same mangaka who did Yuru Yuri. The artwork looks Magical Girlish...

Magical Girl Special Ops Asuka: Magical Girls working with the military. That premise alone will have me watching even if there's a lack of yuri. I think I read the first few chapters of the manga for this one, which wasn't enough time for me to get a sense of the degree of yuri content unfortunately. The military stuff did mean important guy characters, although the sense I recall getting was more paternal then romantic interests.

Release the Spyce at least has a yuri 'feel' from my watching the trailer. Hard to say if it'll GO there, but it looks good.

THE SPICE MUST FLOW!

Wrong series....

I don't mind 'yuri bait' official art, but it would be nice if they used characters where it's vaguely plausable.

Albedo, the black haired lady, is EXTREMELY hetero and is yandere for the series male Villain Protaganist. So, yeah....
