Legacy of a Hero [RWBY/Fate Stay Night]

People keep bringing up UBW, but...

1) This Jaune isn't really Shirou, despite the past-life memories.

2) Remnant's rules of magic may not work the same as Nasuverse!Earth. Case in point: Everyone can use magic here.

3) Jaune's mom may have a "Gae Bolg", but it's obviously a bit different from what Lancer(s) used. Won't it be the same for the other weapons, as well?

4) Continuing from points 2 and 3: Dust. Even if we can recreate weapons, many offensive abilities in RWBY require dust to activate. Even if Jaune's able to recreate the weapons, would he be able to be able to recreate whatever dust was used as ammunition for the weapon?

Existence of UBW. Given that we can project recorded swords, it's strongly implied to me that both UBW and the "distortion" as it relates to swords is still there. We wouldn't have the ability to remember swords well enough to project them with weight if we didn't have UBW.

Recreating Dust Manipulation Effects. Truthfully I haven't paid attention to it because I'm more interested in us unlocking our past life's armory of conceptual weapons, so to me it's not too relevant. That said, dust manipulation is probably a thing we should pick up at some point. We might look into dust engraving/weaving into clothing like runes.

Someone needs to write an omake for Scathach so we get training bonuses. I just remembered that she was nuts at magic and runes, so she's probably our best bet for everything.

Now to be fair to Kiritsugu, it's not as though he was a shining beacon of sanity himself. In some ways he was just as screwed up as Shirou so I think he can be forgiven for not noticing how broken his adoptive son was.

No doubt. But when you have to say "to be fair", the subject usually loses out on "Parent of the Year" status.

Oh, I never said it was *impossible*, but would it be as effective in this world as it was in the past one?

What are you thinking specifically? My thoughts, below:

UBW Effectiveness for Arc-Emiya in Remnant
  • Positives
    • Aura is a much better fuel than prana/magic circuits
      • Implied to not be as limited by "territory control"
      • Aura reserves can be increased through training
        • Unlike most Semblances (Speed, Kinetic Redirection, Polarity) which scale linearly with magic reserves, UBW scales exponentially (Schnee Glyphs probably do as well)
        • Even if we can't project NP's, there's a strong PvE utility to being able to project hundreds of copies of nameless blades, or mundane well-crafted blades
        • Our fighting style effectiveness increases a lot when we don't have to be nearly as restrained about breaking phantasms or using more prana-intensive techniques
          • [Prana-burst} to increase melee
          • [Caliburn] as an alternative default sword / Dad would probably like that
    • Alaya potentially gives more power because of lower population?
    • If we're fighting against humans (not Heroic Spirits), imitating the skills of the wielder becomes a lot more powerful and effective; because the gap isn't nearly as large
  • Negatives
    • Loss of past-life armory?
      • This would be unfortunate. If we don't have the ability to recover enough of our past life's memories that we can get some conceptual weapons.
    • Versatility of enemy semblances?
      • This is probably the big one of our negatives
      • Remnant has a lot more in the way of potential enemy "magic" methods with higher frequency that could counter UBW
        • Speed Blitz, Silver Eyes, etc.?
Things can go both ways, but generally I view UBW as being overall enhanced because:
  • Aura can be trained
  • UBW threat level scales exponentially as reserves increase because you get to use the higher-quality aspects of the armory more frequently
  • Imitating the skills of wielders is much more OP against humans, while against heroic spirits, it just means you don't instantly die
  • If we don't have Noble Phantasms any more & can't replicate dust-ability blades conveniently, we use mundane blades and do

Joining A Club, Part 3
"Looks like I will be in your club Emeralda." you said to your sister and her smile was radiant.

"Neat! We will find you a good weapon in no time Jaune!"

~~O~~

Once joining the marksman club you were quickly introduced to the group. In total there were fifteen people from all years, the lower years working on weapon safety first before taking to the target range. You were no different, and you learned the composition and maintenance of several types of guns and archaic weapons, from the deceptively simple sling to the spear thrower, crossbows both modern and archaic and bows both archaic and moderns.

Out of all of them, you felt more natural with the bow.

Draw with a breath, hold, aim, loose. You thought you could refine those steps further and you did so, changing and adapting the steps until the correct form was achieved, which logically would end in the arrow hitting the mark. It was also fortunate that you could already use aura to enhance your strength, giving you access to the target range.

First the necessary steps he had came up with after talking with his bowmen.

Footing. Torso positioning. Readying the bow. Raising the bow. Drawing apart. Full Draw. Release.

*thuck*

"A bit slow", admitted one of the upperclassman that was also a bowman, "but damn if it isn't effective. Have you ever missed?"

"Once or twice." You admitted, knowing that your form had slight flaws, not the least of them your size and awkward grip, having to hold the bow with your aura basically and a certain something that makes the perfect shoot an uphill battle no matter what the other club members say.

That, and the fact that you are still shooting too slow and with a bow too weak. Still you're only seven, and you will work it out in the future.

+1 Martial, +1 Diplomacy

Uh. Your update is a tad incomplete. I mean, where are our next options to murder each other over vote on?

@Warhawk_1 First of all, thanks for that easy to understand list! :D

Secondly, I was concerned since 'magic' seems to work a bit differently on Remnant than it does in Nasuverse canon. Everyone being able to use Aura and Dust with proper training, for instance. Not to mention the magic circles and such that Weiss, Cinder and Ms. Goodwitch used seemed more like the Age of Gods Magic that Medea of Colchis tossed around.

Oh yeah, and then there is Kanshou and Bakuya... could Jaune/Shirou have traced them if he hadn't seen them with his own eyes first, or were they traced purely from his past life memory?

Bah. Whatever. We better use the fuck out of that bow, since we're apparently cutting points out of our close range combat for it. Going to be really pissed if the vote was entirely to make Jaune more like Shirou and it doesn't get used.

Ya know... Jaune actually has the hair color to atleast make a convincing Gilgamesh here and probably could find those clothes somewhere.
I mean I know jaune is shirou's reincarnation but Gilgamesh is a lot cooler (if he wasn't a massive arrogant douche i'd like em) :p

I don't know. Gilgamesh's personality with Jaune's level of skill could be hilarious.

Edit: For bonus points, give him parodies of the more broken crap from the Nasuverse. "Behold, the Normal Eyes of Depth Perception! They allow me to perceive the light reflecting off objects!"

Just imagine Gilgamesh stuck in a tree because Pyrrha tried save him from getting killed from the fall...

Year 8 - Bianca Graduation, Club Competition
The year passed without any issue, and Bianca will join a preparatory combat school next year, one inside Vale proper named Clock Tower. She will need to live on Vale on her own. Already your mother is feeling lonely without her, which was strange since she spent a great deal of time away on hunts but nobody in the house had the heart or courage to point that detail out.

Still, this marks how your older sisters will soon go their separate ways in pursuit of their dreams, leaving only the youngest back. Your mother is right, it will be really lonely without them and something inside you makes you want to go with them to make sure nothing bad happens to them. Maybe it's a bit clingy, but when you remember that Shirou have no one anymore it's understandable that you make up for that during the day.

Speaking of dreams, apparently Shirou is making new friends in the school. Well, more like being exploited is the right thing to say. The you of the dream doesn't mind helping them, happy to be of use, but the way he does it and the way they threat you, you can't help but feel pity for your dream self which makes you appreciate even more your family during the day.

You're been told you're the 'perfect little brother', something you doubt is true, but nevertheless you strives to be. For your parents, for your sisters, and even for yourself.

~~O~~

Events!

There will be a farewell party to Bianca at the end of the year! (Mandatory)

There will be a marksman competition on the Kingdom of Vale during the year! (Optional)

Marksman Club so we can see what it's like and meet some of our fellow club members, sisters because it gives more chances for Diplomact increases, cooking toget that structural analysis upgrade, 7 Mysteries because the odds are slightly better and I want to make up for last time, the library to hang out with not-Amaterasu, and Aura and Semblance because I think they'll be important to understand more about early.
