Oh, I gotta update that. It's pretty damn busted now. It's going to need a new blade and its hilt repaired. At this point, the only benefit of repairing it would be that you can astralize and materialize it at will.
If it needs a new blade and a new hilt, doesn't that translate into an entire new sword?

As for the benefit, can't we just transform now?

I always found the example from "John Dies at the End" to be the funniest one. It's definitely the most creative way to illustrate the paradox I've ever read.
Unfortunately, I never finished the book. Other stuff got in the way whenever I started reading.

I should probably go to the library or something. (Yay, I can read it in a book format!)

Story Post 16
Taking another sip of your coffee, the bitter drink might as well have no taste at the moment. Getting of the phone, Fu walks over to the table, slamming her hand down on the wood surface.

"I thought I told you not to go out at night!" she hisses.

You stare at the mug in your hands, not meeting her gaze. "I'm sorry."

Silence for several moments, before you feel a pair of arms pull you into an embrace.

"I'm sorry, too," she replies, her tone softening. "This must have been a rough night for you as well. Do you…" Fu pulls away from the embrace, taking in your ruined tracksuit. "Do you want to talk about with me, or wait until the police get here?"

Taking a deep breath, you raise your head, meeting Fu's gaze. Her eyes are red, the skin around them swollen. Your heart plummeting at the thought of lying to her, you decide, in the spur of the moment, to tell her exactly what happened.

Whether or not she believed you could be figured out afterwards.

"I was attacked," you begin evenly. "by a pack of monstrous wolves."

Fu's tone turns harsh. "Now is not the time for jokes, Yue."

"Itsuki has been kidnapped, Fu. You know me, Fu. I wouldn't joke about something this serious."

Fu takes a deep breath, likely calming her nerves. "Continue."

"You know I'm good with a sword, and I happened to have one on me at the time of the attack. I was able to kill most of the wolves, vile creatures shadowed in a… dark aura of sorts. But one outlasted me… and when it saw Itsuki it went for her and… ran off."

You clench your teeth in frustration at your failure to protect your new family. These people had given you a home and this is how you repay them.

"These creatures… when you killed them did you happen to see an octahedron emerge from their bodies? Did you destroy it to kill them?"

You cock an eyebrow. "A what?"

"An octahedron. Two pyramids connected at their base." Fu explains hurriedly.

"Ah, no. I don't remember seeing anything of the sort," you admit, staring at Fu oddly.

Rising from her chair, Fu asks one more question. "And do you believe these creatures were supernatural?"

You nod. "I do."

Taking out her cellphone, Fu dials a number. "I have to make a call. For the love of the Shinju-sama, don't wander off! I'll be back in a few minutes." Fu commands as she walks out of the kitchen.

Left alone, you finish the last of your coffee. Wondering why she asked about octahedrons, you hear your phone ping, indicating a new email message.

From: Itsuki

Subject: Come to the old temple

If you ever want to see Itsuki alive again, come to the derelict Koushou-ji Temple at midnight. Come alone, or she dies.

Your grip on your phone tightens as you read the email. So her captor is intelligent after all.

"Looks like there truly is a mastermind behind those black beasts," you remark dryly to yourself.

Your gaze shifts to the door of the kitchen, behind which Fu is talking to some unknown party. This concerns Fu greatly, but… you've already failed the Inubozaki Sisters once. It's your duty to fix things alone.

Or is it?

Isn't it kinda ironic, that instead of us guarding the temple, we are going to invade the temple?

[X] Don't tell Fu about the email. Go alone.

Bringing a non combatant into a active combat zone is stupid and so cliche.

I doubt her sneaking skill, but backup would be pretty important...provided we don't get noticed to have a companion when we leave the house.

Poor Fu. We'll be disappearing on her, and going out at night, again even after she told us, again, not to.

Still I'm assuming she's calling Taisha about the supernatural wolves. They might have some kinda backup that could help, Heroes can summon their powers in the real world, so having Fu know where we are going means any backup they send might make it in time.

If a note will be left containing the location...

I'm currently wondering if there's any possibly chance of Fuu arriving earlier at Koushou-ji Temple than Yue, setting a very nasty ending? I mean, Yue's memories of her original self's past are spotty, if not outright missing.

Fuu has lived her entire life in the neighborhood.

Wait a freaking minute.
Our mystery person knows who Yue is, currently.

Reason being they were able to find her phone number among the multiple entries that Itsuki probably has on her phone, enough familiarity to match her face with the names on her contact list. There haven't been any stories of incidents involving shadow beasts attacking people, so high chance that whoever it is, they're gunning for Yue herself.

So it's either a stalker, a named character, or someone with spooky connections...

Ahh, damn it.
Either way, the mystery person wants Yue for Itsuki's safety. They'll get her.
