I'm not sure what to vote for. On one hand, if he hadn't been forced to fight, this wouldn't have happened. On the other hand, his soldiers are dead because of his orders. He probably misses his family, but his family forced him to fight. It's a good opportunity, but it came at a heavy cost. Finally, if they're going to be friends, he should probably tell her more than the bare minimum.

"Blessing in disguise" is the only one that doesn't really fit, IMO, since it kinda seems to disregard the soldiers who died under our characters' command.

We definitely deserve it: it was our fault they died. But at the same time, we should never have been in the position anyway, we were basically forced to.
And we definitely care about our family considering how much money we're sending them, so I feel that should be included too.

Not sure about whether or not you get GC's voice correctly, since she's your character and we've only really interacted with her once so far.
The dynamics between her and the MC looked interesting, though; Harold clearly seems to find Genevieve attractive, but the player base decided not to pursue her romantically (which hopefully is more of a "not at this time" thing, rather than a "not ever" thing) so he tries to steer things in a platonic direction. Genevieve might've picked up on his attraction and reciprocated it to at least some degree, but then seemed thrown off by the platonic angle.
The result is somewhat awkward, which is kinda how I'd expect things to turn our if something like that might happen in real life, so I'd say yeah on them feeling like Real People(tm).
